Chad Durbin on Blog Talk Radio

Posted by Brian Michael, Fri, August 08, 2008 02:55 PM

Tomorrow at noon, Eric SanInocencio, host of Baseball Digest Daily Live, will be joined in the studio by the everyone’s favorite reliever, Chad Durbin.  They plan on discussing the Phils season and his transition back to bullpen after starting mostly in Detroit last season.  If you’d like to have any specific questions answered, leave them as a comment.

What was his reaction to not being chosen to the All-Star game, even though he had better stats?

  2. Kennedy Says:

Will you consider resigning as a Phillie?

  3. Eric SanInocencio Says:

    Guys,

I’m the guy that’s going to interview Chad, and I’ll try my best to get as many questions from this group as I can. Thanks and feel free to listen live tomorrow.

  4. Richie Says:

    Hi Eric,

Thanks for this opportunity. Could you ask him if he feels more comfortable as a middle relief (6th and 7th) type guy, or in the role he currently is in as a set-up guy. Also, make sure he knows he has been a savior and he better be in red pinstripes next year and years to come. Thanks a lot.

  5. doubleh Says:

With all the innings you are pitching, how do you keep your arm from falling off?

  6. Don M Says:

    Eric,

Could you ask him what the deal is with playing long-toss to stretch the arms out.. we keep hearing that the Phillies players don’t do much of that?

Was that the case with other organizations as well?

A couple people have commented on decreased velocity of pitchers once they come to Philadelphia.. maybe this would help us figure out a reason why..

  7. PhillyGirlinMichigan Says:

A question for you Eric – can you post the interview somewhere? I won’t be available to listen to it live.

Since I’m both a Tigers and a Phillies fan, can you possibly ask him what he thought about the whole Detroit thing – being non-tendered after having a pretty good season with them? I know my co-workers & I thought it was really odd when they kept less talented players on the roster. Anyways, it appears it actually worked out for the best for him (other than not starting). It definately did for the Phils.

  8. Joe Durbin Says:

Tell him his Dad says Hello!

  9. Joe Durbin Says:

I am sorry I was in one of those lunch time silly moods.

It has been great seeing Chad have such a great year with the Phillies.
He has worked hard, watched and listened.
At the beginning of the season when people were being critical about the signing, I remember blogging saying give Chad a chance and you will be surprised.

Go Phils – lets hope Eaton and JD Durbin get back on track.
People do not truely understand how stressful and demanding being a major league pitcher is. I only know from watching the ups and downs and the work taken to be successful that I have seen in Chad.

When the show is done, that link provided above will go right to it. Or you can click on my name and it will take you there as well.

How it works is that the most updated show will play until a new one is done (hence next Saturday). So if you clicked on my name right now, it will play last week’s show automatically until tomorrow’s is complete. Hope I didn’t confuse you too much. Let me know if you have any other questions.

  11. Dave Says:

Brian Michael – speak for yourself, because my favorite relievers are RJ Swindle and Les Walrond! Durbin comes in 3rd.

Although I could probably guess what his reply will be, I would ask Chad if he would rather be starting than relieving.

  12. Jamie Says:

Ask Chad what his long-term plans are. While I’m sure he enjoyed a starting role in years past, does he believe he better serves a team like the Phils in the bullpen, and if so, does he envision himself in the next few years in that role? Also, what does he think of the Phils, and what are his interests in returning to them long-term, even if it is a bullpen role like he currently has?

  13. John Reed Says:

Thanks! Really interesting. I wish i could spend my time on writing articles…just have no time for it.

  14. Eric SanInocencio Says:

It was a great interview guys! Thanks for all your suggestions and I hope we got the info from Chad that you all were looking for. Thank again and feel free to check out the show. Either click on my name or go here….
