Your gameday beer: Cheating because this is a January-March seasonal, but Buzzsaw Brown Ale fromthe Deschutes Brewing Co. is our beer choice today. Nutty like most browns, it froths well and goes down with class. Browns are good in the beginning of spring, but also in the middle of fall. So it’s not unlikely to go brown today. Eat a barbecue chicken sandwich with this offering.
Go Phillies!

What is happening to the Brewers? C.C. Sabathia gave up a three-run home run! Wow! This Brewers meltdown reminds me of what I went through last year with my Mets! I empathize with Brewers fans.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
GO REDS!!!
September 10th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
Wow, 3-1 Reds in the 6th. St. Louis half game behind us and Houston full game behind us in Wild Card.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Please Myers, don’t collapse again
September 10th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
Could you imagine if the Phils and the Mets both made the playoffs, that’d be sick. Especially if we ended up playing them in the NLCS.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
I think it’s possible they both get in. The brew crew is really hurting right now, and if the Phils can win their series with them, it’s another way of getting in.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
There would be nothing better than a Mets vs Phillies NLCS. I prolly wouldn’t even care to watch the world series.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
The Phils need to win today. It’ll be extremely difficult if they have to sweep the Brew Crew to get even.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
Phils/Mets NLCS would end up with another Clemens/Piazza type incident, would be as good as it gets.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Can’t see the game, but Myers looks like he’s pitching well via internet.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
atta boy Howard!!
September 10th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
Howard’s going to get 15 mil next year.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
yeah, you know his defense is terrible and he does strike out a ton, but his HR and RBI numbers are unreal. It’s a shame next year could possibly be our last year with him.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Brew Crew tied
September 10th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
Howards not going to win his arbiration case this year, the general opinion around baseball seems to be that he’s taken a step back.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
He’ll get $13 million next year. That was a monster home run. He broke the score board.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:41 pm
I think the arbiters look mainly at the glamor numbers (i.e. HRs and RBIs) therefore he’ll get the raise.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
Think both sides will be a little more willing to not go to the arbitrator this time around. Brew crew up on the Reds now.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
Man, Gonzo destroyed that ball.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
If Myers can keep it at a 2 run game we’ll be okay.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
47 pitches for Myers already? this isn’t so good…
September 10th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Phils are going to need the bats today.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
Myers is fine. He’ll give us 6-7 strong innings.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
56 pitches and counting…
September 10th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
For a team that is generally out hacking, the Marlins are taking a lot the past couple games.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
what was sarge referencing talking about players on the marlins hot doggin, did someone do something?
September 10th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
Shit, the Brewers won.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
MYERS!!!
September 10th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
That was a great at bat.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
WOAH Myers helping his own cause! Yes!
September 10th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
bunt myers to 3rd, sac fly him in… oh wait, this is the phillies, they’ll just swing as hard as they can at every pitch.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
who cares about the brewers or the mets – win ball games and everything will fall in place.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
Small ball isn’t something that Manuel or the Phillies know anything about.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:55 pm
If they don’t score Myers in then this team is pathetic and deserves to lose. If the pitcher hits a lead off double don’t squander it.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:56 pm
He won’t score. Utley is the most unclutch person on this team.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
Utley: foul out or grounder to second?
September 10th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
they’ve shown werth’s ridiculously high average with runners on 3rd and less than 2 outs the last 2 days now. He’s 0-2
September 10th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
Werth?! Ugh… feels like a stranded runner at 3rd coming right up.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
jesus christ
September 10th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
omg…Hanley made a good play. Does he ever do that?
September 10th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
that’s rough. thats just baseball
September 10th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
nice catch from an all-star player who plays for a team that is better than the phillies.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
I suppose if you mean having a negative run differential, fewer runs score, more runs allowed and a worse record then yes, the Marlins are certainly better.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
nope, i’m talking about right now, during this series – the marlins are the better team.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:03 pm
I wonder if this double comes in.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:04 pm
Kyle, thank you for saving me time in arguing against the Marlins. They overachieved BIG time earlier this year.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:04 pm
And if the Phils take 2 of 3, that makes them worse?
September 10th, 2008 at 5:06 pm
absolutely does. keep your eyes off past stats and move them toward what they’re doing present day. good teams win big games. the phillies haven’t been a good team all year. and they’re certainly not a good team right now — just average.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:07 pm
Ya, the Nationals Marlins Mariners and Braves are all better. You should go root for one of them.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:08 pm
Quick Question i am new to the site… why are some peoples names read when they post?
September 10th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
Present day: Phils take 2 of 3 from Mets, they’re better.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
It means they are left handed.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
RED* sorry
September 10th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
mark, my name is read because i have a higher knowledge of baseball.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
Story of the season? SAS: Someone Always Slumping. Not just struggling a little, but playing a staggeringly poor level…and usually at least one pitcher and one position player In the beginning of the season it was Howard & Myers. Utley decided to take about 6 weeks off in the middle of the year. Rollins was atrocious for two weeks and the bullpen started to look iffy. Recently it’s been Kendrick, Blanton and Burrell. Someone is always slumping this team. All year we’ve been saying, if only we could get things together, we could make some noise in the post season. This team just seems incapable of ever doing it.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:11 pm
Red means they have a website link
September 10th, 2008 at 5:11 pm
Thanks…
September 10th, 2008 at 5:19 pm
This team is tightened up and pressing big time!
September 10th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
From a while ago… but who was that little kid they kept showing on TV with his dad and his mom sitting right next to him, I was watching it at the bar, with no volume, and they showed him like 10 times.. it was just after Tmac talked on screen
September 10th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
Don, one of the last times the Marlins were in town, Hanley Ramirez sharply fouled a ball off of a Jamie Moyer into the stands and hit the kid. He was hospitalized at Children’s Hospital. I guess he’s back as a guest of the Phillies and was given tours, met the players, free stuff, autographs, etc.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:28 pm
Big hit by Coste.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
Wild ovation for a sac bunt…
… I love this city
September 10th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
ohhhhhhh good deal. thanks!
September 10th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
STOP SHOWING THAT BLOODY STAT jeeze
September 10th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
Good job Werth tying it up.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
Johnny wacko
September 10th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
You know, Utley, it’s been awhile since you last homered….
September 10th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
Utley is sooo anti-clutch these days…
September 10th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
Utley is hitting 261 with runners in scoring position
September 10th, 2008 at 5:42 pm
Yeah they gave the kid two worthless , adam eaton jersey’s and two playoff tickets, no refunds . plus authograph pictures of kendrick,Blanton and seanez
September 10th, 2008 at 5:46 pm
I like how Burrell is swinging the bat today. Hopefully his slump is over.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:48 pm
Victorino is kinda slumping lately. Perhaps Werth CF and Jenkins RF for a game or two?
September 10th, 2008 at 5:49 pm
Jenkins apparently would have trouble playing the field because of that injury. He’s more or less going to be used for pinch hitting only. So you’d be looking at a Bruntlett or Stairs RF more likely.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
Manny Says please no Jenkins. please can’t hit. can’t throw. can’t run. but knows how to cash his check.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
Nah, in that case I’d keep Vic in CF, SJ Mike
September 10th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
They have to get Myers a couple more runs, he deserves a win here.
September 10th, 2008 at 5:58 pm
Good move by Charlie leaving Myers…We’ll probably need our bullpen a lot tomorrow since Moyer at his best goes 7 innings, and with a 3-day rest he may just go 5. Tomorrow our bullpen needs to be stellar.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
So now what’s the pitching line-up against the Brewers? Moyer Thurs, Hamels Fri, Blanton Sat, who Sun? Is that correct?
September 10th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
That ball girl is freakin hot!
September 10th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
I would’ve kept Meyers in, but then again I just tuned into the game a couple innings ago. What was the pitch count?
September 10th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
117
September 10th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
Myers through 104 pitches according to MLB.com
September 10th, 2008 at 6:14 pm
and there goes a run….
September 10th, 2008 at 6:15 pm
Clutch save with interfering with that ball. If they come back and win that guy will be responsible for saving our season… for another day
September 10th, 2008 at 6:15 pm
Oh man an ex-Met has a chance to kill the Phillies big time right here. Lets go Lo Duca!
September 10th, 2008 at 6:15 pm
Jeez, people , keep your hands to yourself. I thought Wheels said 117 pitches.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:17 pm
Will Myers start on Sunday?
September 10th, 2008 at 6:19 pm
Lo Doca ground into a DP or something?
September 10th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
dammit, is it that hard to get something started offensively? we can’t afford to lose this game.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:22 pm
The possibility of being 3.5 behind the Mets and 4 behind the Brewers can KILL us
September 10th, 2008 at 6:22 pm
funny thing is that Nolasco beat the Mets a few weeks back 4-3
September 10th, 2008 at 6:22 pm
Sometimes the whole batting order looks like they could give a shit, it must suck for the starting pitchers.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:25 pm
They’re beating themselves mentally at that plate, its not for lack of trying.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:26 pm
Do i have one clutch hit all year?
September 10th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
I still say Utley’s on painkillers.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
any how i figured out how durbin keeps his ERA so low. He lets all the inherited runners score but strands his runners
September 10th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
well i should be too watching him at the plate is a disgrace
September 10th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
The crowd is real close to erupting into major booing.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:30 pm
What is the team’s BA after the 7th inning?
September 10th, 2008 at 6:30 pm
well we pissed our playoff shot out the window today
September 10th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
jeltz for the offense
September 10th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
agreed-can’t get more than 3 runs for Myers, pitiful.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:34 pm
after the tie Phils:10 ABs, 10 outs. What inspired play.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
i have a bad feeling about this…
September 10th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
Ugh. la.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
Nice job Romero.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
Don M , can I borrow your rose-colored glasses for the rest of the game?
September 10th, 2008 at 6:37 pm
AND HIS NAME IS DAAAAAN UGGLAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 10th, 2008 at 6:37 pm
always next year
September 10th, 2008 at 6:37 pm
there goes the season, its over
September 10th, 2008 at 6:37 pm
i have this sinking feeling in my gut that’s saying the season’s over
September 10th, 2008 at 6:37 pm
welp. Maybe this will wake the Fightin’s up and they will sweep the Brewers. Outlook is pretty bleak if they don’t.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:38 pm
This is just great
September 10th, 2008 at 6:38 pm
Don’t worry, there’s still a chance for you guys. The Mets might go 5-12 over their last 17 like they did last year.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
They’ve given up.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
this team sucks
September 10th, 2008 at 6:41 pm
Can someone please shoot JC Romero for me?
September 10th, 2008 at 6:42 pm
I thought you guys were supposed to have the best bullpen in the NL or something? Even the Mets bullpen has done better than this! HA! Don’t count the fish out. They are still hungry!
September 10th, 2008 at 6:42 pm
Biggest game of the next week has now become Eagles/Cowboys.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
What is it with the Marlins and killing our playoff hopes in September yearly?
September 10th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
Well it might be time for the Phils to gracely conceed the division and give some of the kids some playing time. Have to give it to the Mets, they’ve had it far worse than the Phils have for much of the season but there at the top no-one can be blamed but the players, the coaches and the front office if they genuinely feel they should have won.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
this is a really bad loss, nolasco is a pretty good pitcher
September 10th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
burell is the number 1 reason this team is going to be watching october, what hes done lately
September 10th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
And now, on to Shea….
September 10th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
Sj, dont yo remember the marlins got us in the playoffs last year
September 10th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
Three runs is not going to get it done most nights. Brewers won, and there’s a good chance the Mets will beat the Nats tonight, leaving us 4 back in the loss column to both teams.
This bullpen is taxed, and I don’t know why – The starters are top 5 in innings pitched, and Myers went 7 1/3 today in another solid outing.
Am I blowing this out of proportion, or is Romero nothing more that a situational lefty?
September 10th, 2008 at 6:48 pm
GOOOOOOD NIGHTTTTT!
September 10th, 2008 at 6:48 pm
And the Marlins kept us out of the playoffs every year before last year.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:49 pm
Stick a fork in em.
The bullpen is falling apart, both Durbin and Romero have been bad lately.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:49 pm
durbin has been just as bad lately, inherited runners score every time he comes in
September 10th, 2008 at 6:49 pm
I agree with Choke Utley. I wouldn’t be surprised if Burell set a major league record for worst BA with runners in scoring position.
Anyway, the season is not over. Winning the division doesn’t seem likely, but the Phils need to play every game like their lives depend on it. Esp with the 4 against the Brewers coming up.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
its actually making me sick that some of u are throwing the season away already with a good amount of baseball left
September 10th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
And another wasted starting pitching performance, I’m curious as to how many times that’s happened this season???
September 10th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
Thats it.
Its over, Johnny.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
And here come the weekly Phil fans waving there white flags…it seriously does happen on a weekly basis on this blog
September 10th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
Phillies loose, it is over. What has happened to this team? Mets will now most likely take the division.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
Don’t worry the Mets will fold, the Brewers will get swept this weekend and gas will drop to $2 a gallon.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:53 pm
I just don’t see it happening, even if we start to play better. That Mets team is not going to collapse this year. They are a different team.
Go Eagles.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:53 pm
DON’T COUNT THE FISH OUT!
September 10th, 2008 at 6:54 pm
I hate to say it but it is really over, there is no real chance with how the mets have played. The wild card looks like it would be the way to go but with the way we have played who the hell knows and can we really see a somewhat consistant phillies team?
September 10th, 2008 at 6:54 pm
I just wish that fight and excitement was there and they just don’t have it. It just feels like they’re going through the motions. Since the All Star Break, they just haven’t had it….
September 10th, 2008 at 6:55 pm
MARLINS FAN: Are you the only Marlins fan in existence? Take a hike.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:55 pm
In fairness this was over a while ago but it took the Mets a long while to take advantage of the Phillies inept play over an extended period. Dan your right we’ll bitch and moan about the pitching but the reality is the offense wasted too many games and it’s natural for your pitching to hit a wall, other teams jump on our mistakes but we rarely this season have been able to capitalise on theirs.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:55 pm
Mets won’t fold. They held the Phillies in check this year. That is the difference. We couldn’t dominate them like we did last September. Won’t it be our luck, Mets take it all. I’m done.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
Interesting quote from Jimmy today in a pre-game interview. Final question of the interview: “Any message for the Mets?” Jimmy: “Oh no, we’re done with them. If they’re not there in October with us, we’ll just see them in 2009.”
This man’s arrogance is exactly the sort of thing that cost the Mets the division last season. I really don’t like him right now. I know he’s been good lately, but overall he has had a bad year, and he is unreasonably cocky.
September 10th, 2008 at 6:58 pm
Nicely said Fred… We can Dream… We can sure dream…
September 10th, 2008 at 7:08 pm
The offense has cost the Phils dearly this year. J-Ro, Howard, Utley, Victorino, Burrell, Coste, Ruiz, on and on it goes. No clutch or situational hitting at all.
Poor coaching but the bottom line it’s the players who are too blame for this mess. Guess they just got knocked off their high horse.
September 10th, 2008 at 7:10 pm
I didn’t want to look forward to 2009 until 2008 was over, but this Front Office has got to get off their high horse and do something.
September 10th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Unless the Phillies sweep the Brewers, which won’t happen since Moyer will be pitching on 3 days rest, the season is over.
September 10th, 2008 at 7:17 pm
The season is not over, but realistically there is like a 3% chance the phillies make the playoffs.
Next year I hope to see a drastically different team – shop Howard for some pitching help; let Burrell go and add a contact bat in the outfield; drop the dead weight(Jenkins, Taguchi, Eaton, etc.); do something about the catching situation.
September 10th, 2008 at 7:17 pm
Pitching might not have been the best but it was sure good enough to win the division. How many games did the starting pitching keep us in the game only to be let down by the offense? Way, way too many.
It appeared to me the everyday players had the notion they could turn it on at will. It also seems to me the Phils thought a little too highly of themselves starting with winning the division last year. They seemed to party it up on the field with quite a bit of liquid beverage thrown in. The victory celebration looked extremely similar to bunch of guys who had been up all night partying.
Their play against the Rockies (granted the Rockies were hot) looked like they never recovered from their partying. I think that party and uppity attitude carried over to this year.
September 10th, 2008 at 7:18 pm
On their high horse… Nice way of describing this FO. They seem to be very naive or incapable of address what are the issues.
September 10th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
Mets are lucky they play in a BANDBOX..easy to hit homers
September 10th, 2008 at 7:22 pm
1-0 Mets
September 10th, 2008 at 7:22 pm
Shea stadium is gigantic compared to this stadium.
September 10th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
Like I’ve said before, this FO doesn’t really care about post season, just about filling seats and making money in the regular season.
September 10th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
Mets and Washington tied 1-1
September 10th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Trade Howard for Nolasco
September 10th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
Unfortunately the season ended in the 8th inning today. Especially with Milwaukee winning.
Priorities for the 09 season must include
A legitimate starting pitcher not Joe Blanton think CC
A major league bench….sayanora So
A major league catcher
A team leader type similar to Aaron Rowand
There is no way this ownership is spending for all of these things so next Sept. we’ll all be hoping and wishing and praying for help from the likes of the nats and reds.
PS…..Remember we’re all a bunch of front runners. Great season Mr. MVP.
September 10th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
Mets up 5-1 already
September 10th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
7-1 actually
September 10th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
Mets up 5-1
September 10th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
oops take that back 7-1 now
September 10th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
The Phillies season is still not over and it makes me sick that everyone is saying that. There is still quite a bit of baseball to play this season. I think this weekend will show us if the Phillies are playoff bound or not.
September 10th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
Did you know that Jimmy “MVP” Rollins has posted better than league average OBP just ONCE in his major league career? And he’s a leadoff hitter?… what?
Go Mets.

I’m not here to gloat unlike many Phillies fan on the Mets blog.. But the Mets will not go down quietly this yr. This is a different team with a different manager and right now as the National league’s top teams minus the Mets are all slumping bigtime. Cubs, Brewers, Dbacks/Dodgers.. The Mets are up 7-1 and looking to go up 3.5 games. Good luck in your series with the Brew Crew. This is do or die series for the Phils

rivelz, why does it make you sick that there saying that, personally, i love it

16 games left and the phillies basically have to go 13-3, and hope the mets cool off to the point that they go 9-7(8-8 to win division), or the brewers continue to steadily decline into a 9-7 finish . . . not likely
we need to infuse some small-ball type players into this lineup, someone who is willing to move runners along and sacrifice their personal stats to better the team. by that i am hoping we don’t have another 2-4 years of burrell.

Ooohhh… the pain.

Does anyone really believe that they won’t bring back charlie.or that they will go after a top starter. They will let pat walk and replace him with werth which scares me. and jenkins in right [god forbid] but I believe they just don’t care forty four sellouts and they go out and get joe blanton, The owners are just ballies enough to do nothing and tell us Blanton will be better and myers was good after his minor league stint, cole is a year older, ruiz just had a bad year. Jimmy will be back. And our minor league system is better. even though triple a and double a were horrible with only two postional prospect donald and marson.

Nothing like giving the suffering a ray of hope… mostly to yank the carpet out from them when they look up to see it… but Washington’s putting up a good fight against a struggling Pelfrey tonight.

James K I keep on saying it rollins is not a lead off hitter. Victorino bunts and if he start to walk more he should lead off. Jimmy should hit third or fifth.

September 10th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
Umm… so long as the Phillies are losing, the Mets don’t need to go 17-0.
BTW, welcome to 3.5 games back
September 10th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
17 games left after tonight. What are the chances they lose 12 of them again? Deja vu all over again?
September 10th, 2008 at 10:37 pm

Boy, is there anything I love more than to see all the Phillies fans piss and moan like a bunch of school girls. The only thing you guys can hope for now is a shot at the wild card. If you dont sweep the Brew Crew than say goodnight. We’re gonna leave you guys in the dust. Fu$$ off Phillies fans. I’m so sick of all the Phils fans talking shit.

KM stated that the Phillies have to go 13-3 while the Mets or Brewers go 9-7. In my mind, the Mets are playing far too well for us to catch, and we have no head-to-head games to do anything about it.
However, if we sweep the Brewers, our 13-3 (subtracting 4 wins) turns out to mean we have to go 9-3 in the remainder of the games. The Brewers’ 9-7 turns into 9-3 for the remainder of theirs. This season is not over, but a bad weekend series will end it.
Playing PTI Oddsmakers: I’d put chances of catching the Mets at

YOU CAN DO THE WILDCARD!!!

phillies suck. the only thing they learned from 2007 was how to play with no heart in september. i guess some team has to play dead at the end of the season. last year it was the mets. this year its the phillies. the mets figured out that their manager sucked and heaved ho his ass. phillies need to do the same thing or the only thing 2009 will bring us is more grief when we don’t matter and all anyone talks about is the mets and braves… again.
September 10th, 2008 at 11:42 pm
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH… “they know we’re better than them.” BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAHHAHAHA…
almost as funny as “the phillies are the team to beat!” he meant that as a challenge? but it became in invitation!!!BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
no better fans to leave in misery than philly fans! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Loss today bad psychologically as well as how it affected the Phillies in the standings.
Rollins, Utley and Victorino all left two runners on base today. Utley cannot hit in the clutch right now, Victorino is slumping as of late and Burrell does not have a clue about anything up at the plate. A dependable veteran hitter, similar to what Rowand was last year, is needed to hit fifth or sixth in the batting order. The two players that were brought in during last off-season have not gotten the job done.
Myers did not pitch badly today but made two key mistakes to Luis Gonzales and Nolasco the pitcher, who was hitting .142. A veteran pitcher like Myers has to get the opposing pitcher out in a key game like today. No excuse there. It is kind of unjust that Myers picked up the loss today when Durbin gave up the Marlin hits that produced the lead runs and then of course it continued on when Romero came in to pitch.

Still lots of baseball left. It’ll be extremely hard for the Phillies but it’s possible.
