Gamenight: Braves (70-88) At Phillies (89-69)
Posted by Tim Malcolm, Wed, September 24, 2008 06:15 PM
Headline: Alright, folks, here we go
The Major Players: Brett Myers, Pat Burrell, Jimmy Rollins, Brad Lidge, Jo-Jo Reyes, Brian McCann
The Venue: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pa.
The Number: 1.5 games ahead NL East
Four games left. Brett Myers on the hill. A 1.5-game lead. Must. Win.
Big Money Brett Myers: Tonight will be the final start of the 2008 season for Brett Myers (very likely). His second-half stats: 7-3, 2.79 ERA, 72 K, 19 BB.
Hittin’ Season: All of the Braves big bats have hit Myers well this season. Brian McCann is .667 with three RBI; Chipper Jones is 1.000 with a home run; Kelly Johnson is 1.000 with a home run; Yunel Escobar is .500 with a home run. Ouch.
On The Other Hand: By contrast, the Phillies have also hit Jo-Jo Reyes well. Carlos Ruiz has one of his four home runs against Reyes.
One Louder: With the loss yesterday, the Phils are 26-23 in one-run games.
Tomahawk’d: This will be the last time the Phils see the Braves; the Phillies are 14-3 against them this season.
Phillies: Brett Myers (10-12) 4.46 ERA
Braves: Jo-Jo Reyes (3-11) 5.74 ERA
Gametime: 7:05 p.m. EST
Weather: 65, partly cloudy
Lineup: Rollins/Utley/Werth/Howard/Burrell/Victorino/Feliz/Coste/Myers

THIS BOMB SCARE IS THE TURNING POINT IN THE SEASON RARRRRHHHHHHHH.
Go Myers. Go Illies.
September 24th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
GO PHILS
September 24th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
Mets/Cubs on ESPN, guess I don’t have to do Gameday then.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:03 pm
Mets Fan coming in Peace
September 24th, 2008 at 7:04 pm
why the F___ is myers throwing off-speed junk, that’s what got him in trouble in the first half of the season in the first place
September 24th, 2008 at 7:05 pm
better get the bullpen ready
September 24th, 2008 at 7:05 pm
Just like hamels leaving shit up
September 24th, 2008 at 7:06 pm
Oh my god there goes the division…
Coste shouldn’t catch anymore.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:07 pm
Just got to buckle down and take care of things
September 24th, 2008 at 7:10 pm
i know the braves have to get 27 outs to beat us…c’mon phils
September 24th, 2008 at 7:10 pm
Relax guys, its still early
September 24th, 2008 at 7:11 pm
there we go!!! lets get it back
September 24th, 2008 at 7:11 pm
Ok, time to get them back.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:12 pm
Alright, Jo-Jo Reyes throws slop, so let’s hit him hard.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:14 pm
Don’t get too worried about Myers’ rocky start, the Phils are up against Jo Jo Reyes. He’s lost 7 starts in a row, and has one of the worst names in baseball.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
They say wind is blowing heavily to left, so hopefully that’ll help with Burrell, Werth, and Howard.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
Cubs up 1-0 on DeRosa homerun.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:33 pm
Ugh come on Myers don’t screw up now you’ve been so great this 2nd half…Now the offense need to not have these 1-2-3 innings on Jo-Jo Reyes he’s garbage we need to score some runs.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
I hate that pull shift defense. Good job Pat getting something going.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:35 pm
Feliz has got to get this run home.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:35 pm
Again, does Kelly Johnson only do this vs. the Phils or is he literally the worst fielder of all time?
September 24th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Good clutch hit, Feliz. There’s one of ‘em.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
get runs here. BATS BATS BATS. Myers is waffling instead of going after people.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
dont bitch about kelly johnson and his skillet hands. Just take it and enjoy.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Pete, big hit there. Just as big here with Coste though. When a team screws up like that, you want to completely bury them.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
Don’t bitch?
September 24th, 2008 at 7:39 pm
Our catchers are offernsively inept
September 24th, 2008 at 7:39 pm
They at least got one….
September 24th, 2008 at 7:39 pm
if Coste was just a second faster he would’ve beat it
September 24th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
Just got here… how did the Phillies score? How did the Braves score?
September 24th, 2008 at 7:41 pm
ugh. not buried. next inning we’ll get ‘em. Myers= head out of ass this inning?
September 24th, 2008 at 7:41 pm
They quiet again at CBP or is it just me?
September 24th, 2008 at 7:42 pm
Manny, Braves strung together a bunch of singles in the first. Phils, Burrell got a double, Victorino got on a Kelly Johnson error and Feliz singled Burrell in.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
By the way, Bill Murray getting annoyed at the ESPN announcers is funny.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
oh my god… the braves are just going to dink and dunk their way to victory. that’s SEVEN hits in two innings.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
Thanks SJ Mike… so Myers is having a rough start!!
Nice out at home!! Phew
September 24th, 2008 at 7:44 pm
And GONE!
September 24th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
God. Myers needs another Minor League trip.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
That was the smart play by Howard.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
The Phils just don’t know how to play when they control their own destiny…Looks like Myers still sucks after all.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
Of course they’re quiet at the stadium. The Braves have 8 hits in 2.1 innings and the Phils just grounded into a double play to end the inning. The fans will be plenty loud if we start hitting Jo Jo a little more.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Pardonez-moi….
September 24th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Burell!! Why couldn’t he get that?!
September 24th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
i’m sorry guys, but burrell is an awful outfielder
September 24th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
top of the braves lineup is 7-10. 7-10!!
September 24th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
The wheels have come off Myers big time.
Oh. Dear.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
If Hamels and Myers can’t win the “easy” games, then we’re pretty much screwed
September 24th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
Would you guys rather have Kendrick or Myers pitching if you get into the playoffs? lol
September 24th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
I hate going against teams with nothing to play for, because they always seem to then perform like they have something to play for….
September 24th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
anybody else think Coste isn’t calling a very good game? Myers should be throwing way more fastballs to get ahead in the count. Part of that might be on the catcher/pitching coach. I’m watching on Gameday though so it’s kind of hard to tell
September 24th, 2008 at 7:52 pm
you can’t give up nine hits in three innings and expect to win. what the crap.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:53 pm
Mike N., it seems like Myers is trying to nip with offspeed off the corners of the plate and missing spots. He’s also elevating his pitchers a lot.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:53 pm
Clearly, Coste is throwing the game to get back at the team for not playing him every day anymore.
Yup, that’s it.
Ahhhhh we need runs.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:53 pm
I don’t know why Ruiz isn’t the catcher… His numbers in the offense have improved in September and he is amazing defensively and calling games.
But props to Coste for getting the out at home…
September 24th, 2008 at 7:54 pm
I don’t think Coste ever call a good game he was catching when Lidge threw like 30 some pitches agains the Marlins i think it was…The only reason Cholly lets Coste play is for more offense and he isn’t bringing that.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:54 pm
this game dangerously looks like last night’s
September 24th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
This game could be so much worse right now. We really need to get to Jo Jo this inning or the next.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
J-Man – I was also thinking about that game where he caught Lidge and Lidge looked bad.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
Coste always catches Myers.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
p.s. – Coste is Myers’ personal catcher. pretty much all of Myers’ starts lately (maybe even throughout the whole season) has Coste calling the game.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
CHASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 24th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
Good job Chase! There’s another one!
September 24th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
UTLEY!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!
September 24th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
Oh that’s right…Thanks SJ and CT for the clarification… I forgot that tiny detail
September 24th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
ah ok didn’t know that.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
Bases loaded with David Wright up, 2 outs….
September 24th, 2008 at 8:00 pm
Myers is a bit too much of a head case for me, I keep thinking he’s going to have some sort of meltdown, like that guy who climbed the backstop years ago.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:02 pm
Good short inning by Myers. He needed that.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:03 pm
Zambrano walked in a run. 1-1.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:03 pm
Game tied in NY
September 24th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
HOWARD!
September 24th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
Beautiful.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
BIG MAN DELIVERS!!!!!!
September 24th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
I’m flipping back and forth to ESPN. Zambrano is getting squeezed by Randy Wolf’s brother behind the plate.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
Ah the Phillies scored and I was watching the Mutts
September 24th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
PAT’S BACK!!!!!
September 24th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
Grand slam Mets.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
Delgado just hit a grand slam. 5-1.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
Grand Slam Delgado
September 24th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
Haha, T-Mac: “Burrell’s gonna get AT LEAST two on that one.” I’ll bet my left nut that’s all he gets.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
The good thing about the Mets’ grand slam is that I can stop watching that game and focus on the Phillies
September 24th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
man, zambrano sucks. now we absolutely HAVE to win this game.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
Jo-Jo Reyes is already coming out?
September 24th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
Sheesh, Burrell tagging is scary
September 24th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
Bases loaded against Sabathia in the first with 1 out.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
Pirates have the bases loaded with 1 out vs. CC. Maybe they’ll get a grand slam too.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
damn, they should’ve left Reyes in
September 24th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
Randy Wolf’s bro has had a very inconsistent strike zone up at Shea. It has changed from inning to inning. Zambrano got too emotional up there.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
damn, what a wasted opp there
September 24th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
Coste has killed our rally TWICE already!
September 24th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
New ballgame. I’m kind of nervous.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
Sabathia has already thrown near 30 pitches and going into the 2nd inning. He’s on 3 days rest as it is.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
Werth has misjudging a lot of balls out there lately.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Myers has to have a decent game today, or he’ll be a headcase going into the post-season.
Which, BTW, is the last thing we need.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
myers doesnt have an out pitch tonight…
September 24th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Weel, he’s out of the game now… Hopefully our bullpen will keep things straight
September 24th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
There goes the “ace” Myers. Pitching a good game.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
good. short leash is what we needed, can’t let this thing get out of hand
September 24th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
coste out too, good thing considering he wasnt worth a bag of baseballs tonight
September 24th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
You guys still believe Myers is an “ace”? He just had a good streak going and now he’s back to himself.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
RiVLez, with all due respect, save your smack talk to yourself.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 24th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
You’ve got to take the sure out, jeeze.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
Not talking smack. Just telling the facts. There is something mentally wrong with the guy. He definitely real good stuff but just can’t do it consistently.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
jesus. this is frustrating.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
2 run double by Derosa. 5-3 now up at Shea.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
Well, time to start praying for Mets/Brewers losses.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
I’m pretty sure it’s time to panic.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
Bobby Cox just wants to be “that guy” right now, doesn’t he.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
All of our worst fears are coming true.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
I’m so pissed watching this game right now
September 24th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
See, lucky me, I’ve been in panic mode all along.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
This is how a season slips away.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
Cubbies at least tied it up.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
exceeeeeept…the Cubs just tied it up.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
I’m with Manny and Tim. WTF.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
Tie ballgame in New York. Thank God.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
Phillies need to get serious and win their own game!!
September 24th, 2008 at 8:42 pm
Of course Larry has to come up in this situation.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Pirates up 1-0 over the Brewers.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
And I thought our days of scoreboard watching were over for this season….
September 24th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Ok cubs, how about some help?
September 24th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Tim, can I drop an f-bomb?
September 24th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Goodnight.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Jeeze, Larry…..
Bobby Cox is just being a total A-hole of a manager right now.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
CAN I HAVE ONE MINUTE OF HAPPINESS TONIGHT?!!!!!!!!!!
September 24th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
Please. Don’t blame Bobby Cox. Brett Myers absolutely sucked again tonight. The bullpen is tattered. What a horrible life we all lead.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
Goodnight.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
i turned the channel… i couldn’t take it anymore. now i’m cheering the cubs on.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
and this game is over…
September 24th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
At least you made me laugh, Tim. Thanks.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
With an off day tomorrow, this is going to be a very sour taste if this ends the way it appears it will.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
Maybe they score seven runs in the next five. I don’t know. We have to hope.
Or maybe the Mets and Brewers lose. I don’t know.
Ugh.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
If the Braves can score 6 in an inning, we can too… This is ridiculous.. Phillies need to step it up and get some runs in..especially NOW
September 24th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
Not a real good time to advertise for ‘09 season tickets.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
The fourth worst collapse ever…
Oh God.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
You know it was this week in 1964….
September 24th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
o-m-g. ughh chipper.
come on phils. rally time.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
MLB.TV ticker saying that ‘Chippers season may be over’
September 24th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
What’s the point of Werth in the team?
Can’t bat. Can’t field.
boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
September 24th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
mets have 2 on and delgado is up… they just pulled out zambrano
September 24th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
Werth is better as No. 2, in my opinion.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
WELCOME BACK TO JUNE THROUGH MID-AUGUST, BABY. Ahhh, good to see the team we knew and hated. Haha
September 24th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
For some reason, Gameday completely froze up for the Brew Crew game.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
I really want to turn off my TV but I can’t
September 24th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
I wasn’t bought on this team until they actually clinched a playoff spot,i knew they’d kind a way to F it up…Like i said earlier,we just don’t know how to play when we control our own destiny.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
Manny, just do what i did. switch to the cubs game and cheer for them (for the time being)
September 24th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
mets going through their bullpen again…
September 24th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
CT, when I was watching the Cubs game, the Mets got the grand slam
September 24th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
There is absolutely nothing more difficult to deal with for a Philly team than being just a little bit ahead.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
ah, ok Manny… keep the cubs game off then!
September 24th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
The only way this team could win a WS is after losing the first 3 games.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
They just love being behind
September 24th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
I think Cholly needs to switch the lineup around and get Werth out of the 3 hole because he’s in a funk.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
We need Feliz to homer to stay in this game
September 24th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
September 24th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
Brewers took the lead 2-1 and still threatening….
September 24th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
Ugh. Manny you are incredibly right. It seems like the Phils can only game when someone is above them or knocking on their door.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
Well, worst case scenario we’re 1 up on the Brewers and tied with the Mets going into the final weekend. Certainly not what we hoped for but we just need to take care of business vs. the Nats. Must take at least 2 out of 3 vs them and make the Brewers sweep or go home.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
be careful NEPA, if the phils and mets are tied at the end, the mets get the division
September 24th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Brewers: taking care of things against a team they need to beat.
Us: 9-3. Woooooh Phils.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
Well now that the Brewers have spotted Sabathia a lead….
Go Cubs?
I hate saying everything.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
We need to win today against the Braves!
September 24th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
If we end up missing the playoffs what do you think they do after this season?Does Cholly finally get fired?
September 24th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
Can they do it though, Manny?
September 24th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Alright, cmon Phils
September 24th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
I think they can if they focus. 3 full innings to go.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
MetsgirlinPA – They only get that tiebreaker if they’re tied and ahead of the Brewers. In that case, great . I’ll take a wild card. If we’re all tied and behind the Brewers then we host a one game playoff.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
Lets not discount the fact that the Mets still have to WIN. They are into their pen.
They also face a feisty team in the Marlins to finish the season. All hope is not lost, but I can definitely feel the boot on my throat.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
The Mets will look at the scoreboard and get fired up…and then win their game.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
We need to win our games for god’s sake. Offense please reappear.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
How the hell did Kotchman get that?
September 24th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
*sigh*
September 24th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
they should’ve had a pinch runner for jenkins
September 24th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
Ugh, that hesitation by Utley cost us an out and a man on first,
September 24th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
Werth has got to poke a base hit here. 2 runs here can just change so much.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
PLEASE WERTH!
September 24th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
Ok. We lost
September 24th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
McCann’s got Werth’s number. every time he goes up to talk to the pitcher, he must be imparting some kind of insane knowledge about how to get Werth out.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
annnnnd there goes the season.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
Cubs up 6-5!
September 24th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
That was their opportunity. I’m generally a very positive thinker, but I just don’t see it right now. On the good side, Soriano got a clutch double to take the lead, 6-5.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
I try to be positive but the Phillies are playing July-August baseball. Ugly and unlucky.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Mike T., don’t start that shit.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
That was Werthless,he needs a day off we got Jenkins and Stairs on the bench give them a start Cholly.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
the phillies do not deserve to make the playoffs. they had 2 games to put away the mets, and couldn’t do it. so lucky they don’t have to face berggman this weekend – but they will still lose the first game to lannan and probably have to do a one game playoff.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
there just not a good team when they need to be a good team.
myers is not clutch.
hamels is not clutch.
utley is not clutch.
that’s the bottom line – if your pitchers and best player aren’t coming up in big spots, you’re not going anywhere.
goodnight.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Mike T., losing 2 games shouldn’t be enough to claim that we “don’t deserve to make the playoffs.” We should win these games, I agree, but I wouldn’t go as far….
September 24th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
they’re*… my grammar is almost as bad as the phillies clutch hitting.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
I’m not throwing in the towel for the season, just for tonight.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
mets have 2 on and no outs… is it time to hit the panic button?
September 24th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
oh great
September 24th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
Good night everyone… I’m going to stop torturing myself and try to look forward to Friday and Saturday games at CBP. I have tickets (my excitement on Monday was much much higher though)!
September 24th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
Hamels kept us in a position to win last night, but we couldn’t take care of business,Myers is just stinking it up again.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
Oh Chris the Mets are coming back.
Well, you die the way you live. In the case of the Phillies, if we do go down, we’ll go down the way we played: uninspired, listless and as individuals who ritualistically shrink when the spotlight turns on.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Just put up an effort, pleeeease. We need some momentum going into the weekend.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Derek Lee is just an all around solid player.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
People are acting like this team is done. No matter what happens the next two days we are still tied for first place and one game ahead of the wild card and thats WORST CASE. I’m having a tough time not panicking myself, but this team is far from done.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
Nepa, as I said, I’m only throwing in the towel for tonight, not the season.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
This is all so sad. But I still have hope. I have tix for Sunday – I have to have hope!
September 24th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
…. looks like i picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue….
September 24th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
Cubbies dodge huge bullet thanks to Derek Lee.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
SJ Mike, I’m definitely not talking about you. Your way more positive than I am usually, haha.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Nepa, my bad. I think everyone is just in a sour mood tonight (for very obvious reasons).
Brew Crew tacked on another run, 4-1. It’s easy to catch fire against the Pirates I guess….
September 24th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Dave – Thanks for the Always Sunny reference.
David Wright – Thanks for choking in that situation.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Charlie, that reference is from the movie Airplane.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
SJ Mike – Really? With the number of huffing glue references in Its Always Sunny I must have become confused.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
Yea, but it’s also a running joke in It’s Always Sunny.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
What the F, Tavarez. You crazy. Go call Manny and set a play date and cool off.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
… looks like i picked the wrong week to quit amphetamines….
September 24th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
Unacceptable. In every sense of the word.
Just a poor effort, and the concerns about Myers are legit.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
Frank, you just described “Rambo.”
September 24th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
Go figure that the Mets tied it up.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Lets hope they take the day off to evaluate WTF went wrong during the back end of that Braves series and come out strong against the Nationals.
::attempting to stay positive::
September 24th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Haha Tim. Charlie: “Well, your lookin’ all sorts a good.”
September 24th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
The Professor, Jamie Moyer, on the mound on Friday.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
Anyone up for a flaming bag of poo into Myers’ locker?
Throw the poo–let’s go.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
SJ – According to the Phillies website, its Blanton on Friday. I will be there.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
Hmmm, I guess they’re switching it around to give Moyer some extra rest.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
Man, Jim Edmonds is still alive. He’s the Strom Thurmond, God rest his soul, of the MLB.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
Leadoff triple for the Mets in the 9th. Our lead will be at .5 methinks.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
Cubs are just tanking it…
September 24th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Mets blew that one.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
As is are the Mets, really. The NL East is a battle of who wants it the least.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
YES YES YES YES CUBS TAKE LEAD IN 10th!!!
September 24th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
They better hold on.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
Thank you, Jesus.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
AND NOW ANOTHER HR!!! 9-6 CUBBIES!!!!!!!!!
September 24th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
Is Ayala the last guy available in the ‘pen? I cannot imagine why they’re leaving him in.
September 24th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
Oh my, I feel a hell of a lot better now. My girlfriend on the phone with me thinks I’m a nut for how much I was cheering on that homerun.
September 24th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
I take back what I said about the cubs tanking it…oh man thank you cubbies!!!
September 24th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
AC, I kinda called it too after that leadoff triple, so I’m sorry too.
September 24th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
Still three outs to go with a dangerous lineup. Considering they loaded them (voluntarily or involuntarily) a few times tonight, I am not yet content.
September 24th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
yep i am still scared…got the mets radio broadcast goin now….
September 24th, 2008 at 11:04 pm

September 24th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
I HATE REYES. There is not a single Met I hate more.
September 24th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
Thank you jesus. MUST win for the Mets tommorow. Are they still facing Harden?
September 24th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
I was at the game tonight, awful time all around, it was cold and the game was just miserable as we all know…..yet i am going to sleep happy if the Mets lose this.
September 24th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
YESSSSS….Reyes goes down swinging
September 24th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
HAHAHAHAAHAHA
September 24th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
Sleep well Mike W!!
Tomorrow – Rich Harden, big big game. Old Man Pedro for the Mets – advantage Cubs.
Be hopeful, could be a 2 game lead going into the final weekend.
Phils – relax and decompress on the day off.
September 24th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
I’m also heading to sleep. Going to enjoy myself tommorow night with the day off. I suggest everyone else do the same.
September 24th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
Gotta factor in the rain — supposed to be raining through Sunday in both philly and new york!! should be a really really interesting weekend.
September 24th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
I’m starting to fall in love with the Mets bullpen. Is it too early for Valentine’s cards?
September 25th, 2008 at 12:59 am
We need the Mets game to NOT get rained out tomorrow.
Harden v. Pedro is a gift from Pinella.
Rain out is a gift from the baseball gods to the Mets and a bad sign for the Phils.
