However, I think the Cubs had a similar game plan going into their series. But once they got jumped on by guys like Loney, they were forced to pitch to Manny, which only made the situation worse. As for the NLCS it's simple, the quality of pitching needs to be sustained while the situational hitting improves and the Phils can't let Manny ignite the bats around him like he did in the DS.
