Bats Send Phils On Brink Of World Championship

Posted by Tim Malcolm, Sun, October 26, 2008 11:39 PM

They came alive, and at the perfect time.

The Phillies scored plenty to defeat the Rays, 10-2, in game four of the World Series. With the win, the Phillies lead the series 3-1, and are now one win away from their second world championship.

A tight game became a blowout thanks to some heavy hits. Ryan Howard was the big star, knocking two surefire homers and driving in five. Jayson Werth added a homer in the eighth. And, yes, Joe Blanton hit his first career home run.

Blanton pitched superb. He went six innings, giving up just two runs and striking out seven. He located all his pitches, never ever getting into much trouble while making the Rays look dead on arrival. The bullpen cleaned it up without a dent, per usual.

As well, the albatross known as “hitting with runners in scoring position” was lifted, as Pedro Feliz sliced a two-out RBI single in the third inning. And anything leftover was thrown to the trash when Howard struck his first bomb, a three-run dinger. When that ball landed, the game was over. It was the fourth inning. Things are looking very clear now, Phillies fans — guess what: We’re on the verge of a world championship.

ONE MORE WIN! I can’t believe I just typed that! Blanton should get the Ashburn.

  2. Jamie Says:

I think I’m going to start drinking early tomorrow.

  3. VA Steve Says:

Tonight we CRUSHED, tomorrow we must FINISH! Go Cole!

  4. Nationals#1 Says:

UNBELIEVABLE! No wait, scratch that, we all knew this would happen! Forget the naysayers, the cynics, the critics and everyone else… tomorrow night the Phillies will become World Champions!!!! Oh, and f off McCarver, Buck and Rosenthal, for suddenly praising the Phillies you hacks

  5. GOOSEBUMPS Says:

I know the whole city has me!!! GOOSEBUMPS’08!!!

This was the Phillies at their best tonight. Smackin balls around like no other. The other games were won and were great too, but this was classic Phils hitting tonight and it was refreshing to see.

    GO PHILS!! 1 MORE WIN!!

  6. NEPA Says:

I knew this team was capable of something like this but I did not think they would finally fulfill it. Has anyone felt like the last few weeks are like a dream? Like I look at the graphic on ESPN saying the Phillies lead the World Series 3-1 and I can’t believe what I’m seeing. This just doesn’t happen to the Phillies.

  7. Griffin Says:

    Joe “F-ing” Blanton!!!!

  8. Brian Says:

In 24 hours we have one hell of a chance of being WORLD CHAMPIONS! I cannot believe I just typed that!!!

    1 more!!!!!!!! With our ace!

  9. Jason Bintliff Says:

The Legend of Fat Joe will live on Forever. Things are destined to be when Blanton takes one deep. For all of those Phillies faithful in the world, I want you to close your eyes a minute and picture this:
    1. Chase Utley hits a homer off the foul pole two years ago in Washington that was called foul. 5 days later, we were eliminated from the playoffs.
    2. Billiy Wagner gives up a homer to Jeff Bagwell with two weeks left in the season three years ago to give the Astros the wild card lead. Harry Kalas’ home run call went: “All of the runs are unearned, but so what.”
    3. Obviously Joe Carter’s name mst be mentioned.

Now, open your eyes, exhale, and know this: It’s over. All of the torture that we have endured over the past 28 years will end tomorrow. Our wounds will heal, and we will no longer be losers. We’ll always be Philadelphians, and tomorrow, we will never be more proud. I’ll end this with a uote from Fred Shiro: Win today and we will walk together FOREVER!

  10. Paul Says:

Is anyone still complaining about the Blanton trade?

    Great win Phils! 1 more!!!

  11. scot Says:

Blanton – 2-0 in the postseason.

    Harden – winless

    CC – Winless

    Gillick = Genius.

  12. BCEagleDeb Says:

What a game – we DOMINATED the Rays! I agree with the previous posters – this is our year – ya gotta believe! Tomorrow we will celebrate a World Series win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. Jeffrey Says:

I hope my boss — a Mets fan — doesn’t expect me to show up for work Tuesday if we win tomorrow. I don’t care if he does.

  14. Sam Says:

    CC—FA
    Harden—1 more year under contract

    Blanton—-2 years left

  15. Manny Says:

ONE GAME AT A TIME. Let’s net get too ahead of ourselves because Hamels will be our pitcher tomorrow. WE NEED TO KEEP HITTING THE BALL and SCORE AS MANY RUNS AS POSSIBLE!!

Go Phillies!!!!!!!!!! I’m so proud of this team!

  16. Stuart Says:

i cant believe its almost time to celebrate. I think we need something all phillies fans do if we win. not shave a mohawk. thats the rays thing they do for losing. what do we do?

  17. Mike Says:

Bring little santa clauses and wave them. It’ll confuse Joe Buck (not that that takes much effort).

  18. NEPA Says:

    Well certainly get hammered drunk.

  19. rk Says:

OK gotta ask the question again if we win tomorrow, when is the parade? any ideas. I cant believe I am even able to ask this…Lets go Phils

  20. Keith Says:

    yay Phillies lol :)

  21. T Marty Says:

i don’t think this will fully hit me until December. all i can keep saying is, i can’t believe this, i can’t believe this is happening. and it is, this is real!

  22. Josh Says:

This is ridiculous. I’ve grown out a World Series beard and everything and it’s actually working! We are so used to losing and getting our hearts broken but it just feels different this time. This team gets it. This is the team that leads us into the promised land as fans (especially those of us that weren’t old enough to remember the Phillies in ‘80 or the Sixers in ‘83). I’ve been a diehard Philadelphia sports fan for over 20 years now and I can’t wait to celebrate a championship. Gotta finish it Monday night!

  23. Phil Says:

I can’t f*cking wait till tomorrow. I will be at the game. I already have tears of joy and excitement in my eyes and I’m not even there yet. I will ball like a little girl when they win it all tomorrow, just like I did when Mitch Williams let up that homer to Joe Carter 15 years ago. This is a team of destiny and I’m so proud to be a fan of it. All of the years of torture I’ve gone through over the years will finally be erased. It will all have been worth it.

On a side note, does anyone know about the tug-o-war? 610 is hosting it. Only people named Phil or Ray can be a part of it. I’m Phil and I’m a really big dude. I used to play 1st base. I’m almost Ryan Howard’s size, a couple of inches shorter though. I want to beat the Rays. haha

  24. Phil Says:

Josh, I grew out an epic beard too. I’m considering it not trimming it till after election night to keep the luck going.

  25. Phillies Phan SC Says:

Paul – I watched Blanton pitch against the Phillies; I never complained about the trade to start.

All – I moved from Philly some time ago, but my heart is with the Phillies. I will always be a fan and I am sad I won’t be able to make the parties… GOSH, one more. It just hit me. I have waited 15 years for this and I think we should not mention the words Joe Carter (Phil); tomorrow we have redemption from 1983 and 1993 I hope….

  26. George Says:

Guys. Capitol Lounge tomorrow. I don’t care if y’all see my cry if they win.

  27. Rob Cowie Says:

Ill be popping bottles and Cottman and Frankford tomorrow.

  28. Rick Says:

Alright then? Devil’s Den had some magic tonight (thanks Phil)! So where are we going to wreck havoc tomorrow night. I think tomorrow night needs to be a night where Phillies Nation comes together. What do you guys think? It’s time to mobilize/organize! Let do this!?!?

BTW – Maybe Tim should recommend the spot since he does contibute to this site (just a little anyway ;-) )!

  29. Ryan Says:

I was there. We broke my losing streak. What a great game!

    LET’S GO PHILLIES!!!

    ONE MORE WIN!!!

  30. Phil Says:

Good Ryan, glad they broke the losing streak in a big way. Rick, glad you liked the spot. Did you get some wings and drink Yards ESA tonight?

  31. Phil Says:

oh yo Rick…did you see the people outside a block away watching on the big screen TV? We partied with them after they won the NLCS last week. Those people are all cool.

  32. Turban Joe Balasootoe Says:

It’s unfornutate but true——-all the pressure is on the Phils
because they cannot afford to go back to Phony-Dome.

  33. JimC Says:

I’m loving being able to say Bam Bam pitched a gem. My teacher scheduled a test for tuesday morning for accounting 2. My reply was. Ill see you next semester. No way I’m missing anything for a test. But what can I say that’s a typical mets fan trying to ruin the Phillies fun in anyway they can. PHIGHTINS one more win. Oh ya I saw Jimmy Rollins about 2 hours ago and he said they’ll take care of business with Cole on the Mound. YAAAA BOYYY lets f*ing do it

  34. Lewisauce Says:

I can’t believe this is happening. I doubted all season. I thought we couldn’t stack up to the AL.

    I was wrong.

    I will eat my words.

When we win tonight, I will ejaculate jizz with red pinstripes. (I just grossed myself out). Alas that I am 3,500 miles away and unable to join the celebration.

  35. Mark Says:

I saw the video of Blanton’s homer — awesome — beyond description. He hauled off and ripped it. Looked like Luzinski.

I just heard an interview with Just Joe.. about his first hr since High School… he said he “just closed my eyes and swung hard..”

Do you love it or what?

Even after Ryans HR, it was almost TBD what was going to happen although everyone was sure – then when Just Joe hit it – Oh man… wildness!

Took my grand daughter to the game last night and she is whining now about school! Believe me, she will never forget her Phillies experience!

  38. Rick Says:

I was watching the interview with Kentucky Joe after the game and it sounds like the rays were questioning the dirt spot on his hat. Wow. . . can we talk about grasping at straws????

  39. Phils2611 Says:

    So Monday morning begins…

I’m at work (like many of you right now I’m sure), after last night’s game. I’m reading about last night, as well as some previews / speculation for game 5 tonight. It hasn’t even truly hit me yet that tonight, this could be ours.

In my honest opinion, I think the Phillies will finish off the Rays strongly tonight. Hamels wants games like this. He knows what awaits at the end of the tunnel. His performance tonight will be nothing short of stellar.

Phillies fans will be insanely intense on EVERY pitch tonight. We will have this team going. After last night, I don’t think pressure will be an issue, our team is having fun now, and with that, it brings wins.

I plan to be distracted during work for the next 8 hours with the upcoming game. I can’t wait to chat more about it and see what analysts have to say, etc.

For those of you lucky enough to go to game 5 tonight, give em’ hell boys. Make that place shake!

    This is our year!

I wish I could bottle this feeling right now and pull it down off the shelf whenever I need it. This is incredible. I’ve having trouble believing it’s real. I was there saturday night and will never, ever forget it as long as I live. And there wasn’t an empty seat in the house – NOBODY left early. I wouldn’t have sold that ticket for $10,000. We have finally turned the corner and will not be denied!! GO PHILS!!!

  43. Geoff Says:

YES! One more win. This is their time. The Rays looked done last night. I expect them to play well tonight, but they ave to face Cole Hamels and hes just unbeatable right now. This is it!

  44. Bill Says:

Anyone know where I can find a viewing party in Atlanta? Preferably somewhere in the Northern Burbs?

  45. Phil Says:

Scott I was there too and some lame couple and their kid left in the top of the 8th that was sitting right next to me. There was another couple in front of me with an even younger kid, and they were letting the little kid yell whatever he wanted and the dad was ridiculously profane. It was awesome. haha The family in front of me booed the family that was leaving early.

  46. NJ (Go Joe Bombton!) Says:

I think we gave up a little too much in the Blanton never expecting the Phils to see October but that deal means something different this morning.

That shot from Blanton will enshrine him in the hearts of Phils fans.

    Adam Eaton who?

  47. A Couple Things Says:

Are the Phillies the most unimpressive World Series team in history?…

I can’t believe the Phillies are going to win the World Series. Something just isn’t right about bad teams winning titles.
    ……

  48. wjg Says:

Can’t believe it. I really can’t. I’ll be there tonight! What do you think? Boys-2-Men? It’s all better than the backstreet boys.

  49. Dennis Says:

I got SRO tickets for tonight on Saturday! 3 tickets for a grand which turned out to be a GREAT deal since all the chips fell in place and tonight could be the night! This is our time!

  50. Phil Says:

WJG Darryl Hall is singing the anthem tonight.

I have to ask this again…does anyone know anything about the tug-o-war? I really want to participate.

  51. Brian Says:

    Ok is this really happening?!?!?!?!

I get tears in my eyes thinking about this game tonight. I’m at work now, I’m a computer teacher and as I’m reading all of your great posts I’m ready to cry again.

I will be at Cottman and Frankford tonight! We are one game and a few hours away from a world championship!

This makes all the years and years of watching this team and screaming at guys like Bob Derneir, David Coggin, Don Carman, Pat Combs, Sil Campusano, even Bobby Abreu and Billy Wagner worth it.

This is why we are fans and it is happening in our city tonight!

  52. NJ (Go Joe Bombton!) Says:

Bad team… Well not so much. The Phils certainly haven’t played great exciting ball for much of the play-off run but that’s not their style. The only way to stand a chance is to knock them out of the game early or force the pitchers to nibble and to counteract that the pitchers have been getting ahead and the offense has been aggressive. People don’t like to admit their wrong especially when it comes to a team who’s pitching was meant to have fallen apart months ago.

This team is a hell of a lot better than their given credit for and deserving champions.

  53. Brian Says:

Phil I heard something about it on 610 this morning i think it was happening during the morning show today

  54. Phil Says:

Dammit. I wanted to go so bad. I was all about being in a tug-o-war.

  55. Matt Says:

Hey everyone! 1 more win is right!!! Can’t believe this! I am trying to get a group together in Northern VA to watch them (hopefully) close it out!

There is a place in Arlington, VA called Crystal City Sports Pub. I went there last Wed for Game 1 and there was a nice contigent of about 20 Phillie fans. They had the surround on for us and TONS of great tv’s. We took over the entire left side of the 3rd floor bar. Who’s in!?!?! It is PERFECT! Let’s triple the amount and do it again!

Here is the website and address:

    http://www.ccsportspub.com/Directions.html

    Crystal City Sports Pub
    529 23rd St South
    Arlington, VA 22202

Let’s get it done tonight!!! Come out all you Northern VA Phillie Nationers!!!

    Who’s in?!

  56. Joel Michalec Says:

I am soooo psyched, I cannot believe it may be here, now, TONIGHT! The city is already on fire, I have been listening to WIP all morning and I am so mad I cannot be at the celebration.

Phillies, you go tonight and play like there is another game tomorrow, but know this…you deserve it…you deserve it all so swing away and TAKE IT!!!

Take it for Charlie’s Mom, take it for Tug, take it for us, the fans…the BEST fans in the world!

    GO PHILLIES!

  57. brooks Says:

Saturday night there were 7 empty seats behind where I sit in left field (row 9, section 143) – there were a FEW people that left before the game was over, not many.

    Sunday, perfect night for baseball!

In my section, there is a family of 3, with a little baby of 7 months old.. this baby was there for the entire game on Saturday and never did cry – he laughed for most of the night. Same with last night! This babies name is Will – we called him World Series Willie!

He will be there tonight, Section 143, row 4 or 5, seats 1 & 2 (with mom and dad)…. Check it out!

  58. Rob Says:

I am stuck in f*cking NYC for work tonight. But I know there is a bar with Philly fans out there. So please, please, tell this Philly guy where he needs to go to be swarmed in a sea of red jerseys and beers!!!

(seriously – any game watches in NYC tonight??)

  59. brooks Says:

Has anyone heard of contingent plans for a parade? Like if (when!) they clinch tonight where and when it will be?

  60. MGR Says:

TAMPA GOT HOSED TWO GAMES NOW THIERS TWO STRIKE ZONES TAMPAS TWO INCHES SMALLER ALL AROUND PLATE MOYER WASAN’T CLOSE AND GOT STIKES CALLED BLANTON THREW STUFF IN THE GROUND AND GOT CALLED STRIKES AGAIN IT SHOWS THAT THE BEST TEAM CAN’T WIN IF IT HAS TO PLAY AGAINST THR UMPS AND OTHER TEAM I DON’T EVEN WANT TO TALK ABOUT THE MISSED TAGS THAT WERE CRYSTAL CLEAR AND MISSED ALWAYS GOING ONE WAY —SO FAR ONLY GAME ONE WAS UMPED CORRECT AT PLATE — GUY WAS PERFECT ALL NIGHT DIDN’T BLOW A PITCH WHY WOULDN’T THE LEAGUE STICK WITH THE GUY WHO DOES IT RIGHT.

  61. NJ (Go Joe Bombton!) Says:

Depends how quickly they can mobalize the national guard…

  62. Don M Says:

Last night was nuts.. I’m so glad I got a chance to get down there and finally see a World Series game in person!

Cole Hamels on the mound, at home, with the Phillies up 3-1 in the World Series… WHO COULD ASK FOR ANYTHING MORE!!??

  63. Phil Says:

Do you think fans will be able to run out on the field tonight if they win the WS? I totally know I’m going to if I can.

  64. Don M Says:

Both teams have gotten hosed on calls… Maybe the umps didn’t see Rollins get taged by Longoria, just the same way they didn’t see him get hit with a pitch in the 9th inning the other night??

Pretty sure Moyer made a GREAT play and on a ball crawford hit and the Phillies didn’t get that call.. and Baldelli should still be out on strikes… instead those two runers, who should have never reached 1st base… ended up scoring runs..

cry, cry, cry Tampa Rays fan…. but make sure you cut the tags off your jerseys, we know they’re brand new

  65. NJ (Go Joe Bombton!) Says:

That’s bull! The zone and the officiating errors have evened out. Moyer was given that little bit of but Garza has aweful control and presence on the mound, Blanton was on and Sonnestine was nibbling and missing his spots.

The Phils pitchers usually get a good zone because they show respect for the umps and Ruiz makes it nice and easy for the umps to call a game.

Simple the reason this team is winning is Moyer/Romero. Moyer makes the starters respect the game and the umps and Romero has the right kind of intensity that’s moulded the pen around him.

  66. Jake Says:

I LIKE TO TYPE IN ALL CAPS TO DEMONSTRATE MY POINT CLEARLY THE PHILLIES DID NOT GET ANY BAD CALLS LIKE A FAKE STRIKE OUT OR A BLOWN CALL ON A GREAT PLAY BY JAMIE MOYER I ALSO DONT BELIEVE IN USING PERIODS I FRIKKIN LOVE RUN ON SENTENCES WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT I AM A DIE HARD DEVIL RAYS FAN I MEAN RAYS FAN SORRY THEY TOOK AWAY THE DEVIL AND I AM MOST CERTAINLY NOT BITTER CHECK JOE BLANTON FOR STEROIDS PLEASE THERE IS NO WAY A PITCHER CAN HIT A HOME RUN I AM CONFUSED BUT I HAVE A MOHAWK SO PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT

  67. Bill H. Says:

Although I enjoyed last night’s victory a great deal, I was actually yelling at the TV last night over the FOX team announcers.

So much for the “Rays have the depth at starting pitching and David the-wunderkind Price in the bullpen” and they blasted 16 HRs against the defending champs – the Red Sox – and that’s why they are favored to win the world series.

Joe Buck and Tim McCarver are still in denial. Buck wet himself after Heinske’s pinch hit solo homer last night claiming that Joe Maddon pulled the right strings to get the Rays back in it (even though the HR made the score 5-2). Yet, they were shell-shocked when Blanton went deep and tried to keep the Rays’ fans hopes alive by claiming “The Rays will have the heart of their order coming up in the top half of the 7th.”

Some heart of the order – Carlos Pena and Evan Longoria – a combined 0-for 29 with 15 Ks. Where’s all the praise from FOX for the Phillies’ pitchers dominating this sad bunch? Carl Crawford is the only one in their lineup carrying his weight. Watch (and listen) to how FOX will claim that the Rays’ youth is to blame and this post season experience will benefit them for the next 10 years.

This Phillies team deserves a lot of credit. Plus, they are fun to watch.

I have a prediction…since he hasn’t contributed this whole series and it looks like this may be his Phillies swan song, I look for a big night (or at least a big hit) from Pat Burrell. That would be sweet.

  68. Don M Says:

nah, nobody on the field… if they do cops will be busting heads and using pepper spray and taser-guns and all that fun stuff

  69. NJ (Go Joe Bombton!) Says:

With the Rollins/Longoria tag, the ump was right over the play and not a single camera angle could show definitive evidence eitherway. It’s very possible Longoria swiped over Rollins butt but the minute the Phils get a break it’s considered foul play. I really am starting to believe Philly is debatably the most hated sports city in the US.

  70. Phil Says:

It is NJ. Don M, do you really think that cops could hold back thousands of fans? I have plans to run out, I hope people are joining me. I want to give Charlie Manuel a big hug.

  71. Don M Says:

They should start Bruntlett in LF tonight and have Burrell come on to Pinch Hit…. have the crowd go nuts, and let Pat the Bat ride off into the sunset..

    not really.. but you know..

$14 M this year and you’re rocking an o-fer in the WS?

  72. Manny Says:

Yo guys check out this photo… look at everyones faces in the crowd

    http://media.philly.com/images/081026_PHILS_BJ_03.jpg

    Awesome

  73. Don M Says:

Yea, because if they let anyone onto the field, then EVERYONE will try to get on… and people will get trampled… They’ll have cops on horses and riot-patrols and everything out tonight.. BE CAREFUL…

    and.. what’s in NJ?

  74. Joel (GO PHILLIES!) Says:

I agree with Bill H – I am so sick and Ph*cking tired of the FOX team talking crap on the Phils. I actually told my niece that I had hoped since they talked crap on us while in TB that perhaps they could come to CBP and actually give us pops. I guess FOX is totally biased and tonight I need to find a way to maybe turn the TV down and get XM Radio to call the game for me! I damn sure would rather hear Harry call the end of this one rather than Joe Buck!

    Go Phillies!

  75. NJ (Go Joe Bombton!) Says:

I think Burrell stays as long as the FO don’t lowball him in their offer.

  76. NJ (Go Joe Bombton!) Says:

Barely any of the analysts/commentators expected the Phils to mute the teams we’ve played so it’s hard for them now to sincerly compliment.

  77. Don M Says:

Leading Hitters in the World Series:

    Carlos Ruiz: .417
    Jayson Werth: .400
    Ryan Howard: .353
    Pedro Feliz: .286

    Jimmy Rollins: .263
    Shane Victorino: .250
    Chase Utley: .200
    Pat Burrell: .000

    …Something just ain’t right

  78. NJ (Go Joe Bombton!) Says:

Ruiz is the MVP, I’m sure it’ll go to Cole if he wins but Ruiz has been unbelievable. Incredible behind the plate and 2 game winning hits.

  79. Manny Says:

I can’t stop thinking about the 1980 clincher with Steve Carlton on the mound… and today it’s gonna be Cole Hamels. This is way too exciting/freaky/special/unique!

  80. Matt Kwasiborski Says:

Is this really happening? I mean, I don’t know how or what to feel? I mean, I don’t remember 1980 and in 1993 we were always battling back. This time we are ahead after a convincing defeat of the baby Rays last night.

We have Hollywood Hamels tonight and I am confident, but I need to see that 27th out before I can really celebrate. I don’t know, it is all surreal to me but I believe.

I will be cheering down here in DC and hope to be at a parade this week in Philly. If we win tonight, the parade would probably be Wednesday, right? I doubt they would do it tomorrow.

    Hollywood!

  81. SJ Mike Says:

Man, some of the people I went to college with our angry, angry people….

Funny status from this guy I knew in college (and is a Mets fan).

‘Bill realizes that even if hell is about to freeze over, the idiots will set the village on fire and the hellish inferno will return.’

    and my personal favorite.

‘Bill could care less about what philly is doing. Giants are 6-1.’

Yet, all he has posted the past 2 days is about how he got an Evan Longoria tshirt and hopes the Phils lose and just posting everything he can about the Phils. But he doesn’t care.

    They are angry, angry people.

  82. mikem Says:

In 1980 when its was two outs. The philadelphia k-9 unit came onto the field. only a hand full of people got on the field and guickly security tackled them. Let win the game first it isn’t over. I saw a guy get riuin on a series betting and thinking it was over he keep betting the team he had in the series who lost three in a row. and he lost a bundle it ruin him/ so lets not put the cart before the horse. We need one more win. And today we should ignore the mets and rays fans don’t stup to there level

  83. Matt Kwasiborski Says:

I have long felt that the national media for the most part hates Philly too. I mean, Rollins was out but hey, they missed another call. And Buck is like, “another call goes against the Rays!” I mean, come on. The guys on Baseball Tonight analyzed four controversial calls and they all agreed 3 of them should have went for the Phightins.

The national media loves the Rays and they are a good story but they are looking overmatched and the bright lights are getting to them. This is our year and this nucelus was also built in-house, so let’s give us some credit and leave the Rays out of the spotlight just once!

  85. Chuck Says:

I have SO much to do at work today and can’t concentrate one freaking bit!!!! This is just too insane!!!!!

  86. Clare Says:

I was at the game. Now let’s finish!

  87. Ryan Says:

Check out this article. My friend and I are in it about halfway down. The guy interviewed us before Howard hit the home run and it was still 2-1. We were kind of pessimistic at that time. It was an amazing experience, being there last night. I saw three Rays fans all night – they were wise to keep a low profile. If we could finish this thing off tonight it would be great.

  88. Grey's Fan Says:

Lots of people asking for out of town Phils friendly bars. Anyone know one in Northampton, MA? Hopeless, but that’s where I am. I was 30 in 1980, but still went to bed in my Phillies hat and hope to do the same tonight.
