Your Gamenight Beer
Here’s a Philadelphia genuine: Extra Special Ale from Yards. I’ve recommended this before, as it’s a very good, bitter, pale beer. But what I really recommend tonight is a Phillies win. One win, and the Phils are in the World Series. Come on, guys. Let’s do this. Get it done. One win. Hopefully we’ll be celebrating all night. This is our moment. No more short sentences — LET’S GO PHILLIES!
Go Phillies!

Ill be drinking 6.99 Korbel champagne tonight. Well ill be wearing more than ill be drinking.
October 15th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
God I have a bad week for fall break. Home in Wilkes-Barre rather than in Philly, but should be a great night. We’ve bought some champagne to pop open if the boys are doing it as well later tonight….
Go Phils!
October 15th, 2008 at 6:32 pm
I’m from Wilkes-Barre as well T.
October 15th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
Going to the series…………
October 15th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
I’ve got my champagne and beer goggles ready for the locker room celebration. *Knock on wood*
I don’t want to jinx or anything but allow me to share this. I’ve always thought that its best when the home team can clinch at home, you see the crowd cheering as they rush on the field to celebrate. But actually, I kind of like the idea of celebrating in the Dodgers back yard. After the way the fans have treated our fans and their columnists have talked bad about our players, I think we deserve to celebrate on THEIR mound and celebrate in THEIR locker room, and make a mess and have THEM clean it up.
Go Phils! Beat LA!
October 15th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
Big night, fellas. Let’s get this done…
October 15th, 2008 at 6:58 pm
Got all my work, errands, and scheduling done.
So I’m ready and pumped up to sit back and enjoy this game! Go Phils!
October 15th, 2008 at 7:08 pm

October 15th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
Fortunately, my boss DID understand and let me leave Friday for Game 2 of the NLCS.
JimC: quit.
October 15th, 2008 at 7:17 pm
That’s awesome you’re there Chase Mutley. Enjoy the game, and stand up and clap and yell and ….BEAT LA!
October 15th, 2008 at 7:18 pm
leaving work now. I’m pumped!!! Let’s go boys!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 7:29 pm
If only life was that easy for me
October 15th, 2008 at 7:29 pm
CSN has someone at Cottman and Frankford already, and there are fans there now, what’s so special about that place, I’m totally ignorant about the reason for celebrating there.
October 15th, 2008 at 7:33 pm
I live in mayfair and apparently that’s what people have done since the Flyers won the Cups in the 70s. So the story goes.
October 15th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Frankford and Cottman is a huge intersection for people that live in NE Philly. It’s in Mayfair and there a lot of people that live around there. Lots of bars around too.
October 15th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Oh my god…I am soooo pumped, lets get this done! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PHILS!!!!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
I just had my picture taken in front of the “south street authentic philly cheesesteak” stand that’s in the stadium. ha!
October 15th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
LET’S GO PHILLIES!
October 15th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
time is moving so slow right now
October 15th, 2008 at 7:42 pm
So fans from Philly just start heading down to that intersection when there’s something big happening? Is that where that Mardi Gras thing was?
October 15th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
good luck out there chase mutley and hopefully you’ll get to see some celebrating tonight.
Let’s do this.
October 15th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
Go Phillies!!!
and u know what I just noticed, we’ve lost the World Series 4 times (BOS in 1915, NYY in 1950, BAL in 1983, and TOR in 1993) all AL East teams . . . only TB left, but we’re due to beat one in the World Series.
Go Phillies!
October 15th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
Be careful Chase Mutley, Leslie Gudel was just talking to TMac and they were saying how badly the Phillie fans were being treated, getting poked in the face, etc. Leslie grew up there and said she’s surprised, it feels like an old time Raiders game.
October 15th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
The red striped quake is shaking LA. Will LA be able to mount an offense? Will LA take their ball and go home? Will Joe Torre say next year before the 8th inning? Will the LA crowd put on their coats, in the 61 degree weather, and go home early? Will Ryan Howard shake the bat and stand back and match Matt Stairs tit for tat? Will I get any sleep tonight? Will the neighbors be mad at me for banging pots and pans like New Years?
October 15th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
Wow, this Fox Pregame is awful.
“Moyer, Blanton, and Myers have a combined ERA of 11 right now.”
Well yeah, but you take Moyer out of it and the ERA is much lower then that. He got rocked for 6 runs in 1 1/3 innings. Blanton pitched 5 innings of 3 run ball. Myers gave up only 5 in 6 innings a slug fest that the Phils won.
Jeeze, these Fox people are such idiots.
October 15th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
Still all dodgers on fox? You’ve got to be kidding me
October 15th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
These games are on so late. I’ve been pumped for hours now! Let’s get this done tonight!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 8:02 pm
That horse-face chick on Fox just said no doubt the Dodgers are getting ready to make a comeback in this series.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:03 pm
Fox sportscasters are such newbs.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
If the Phils can wrap this up, they’ll still be talking about how the Dodgers have a chance for a comeback.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
Yeah Georgie… Fox is trying to gear up a comeback story.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
I hope Ramirez breaks his leg.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
Nice Dodger Blue Tim McCarver.
Can they be any more obvious?
October 15th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
My mom doesn’t know anything much about sports and she has been watching the series. She even said to me “I don’t like that Manny Ramirez. He’s such a hot dog.”
October 15th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
I don’t know guys, I got a good feeling about this game, hope it holds true.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
Who has two thumbs and want’s to get Man-Ram’d? Joe Buck.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
We are going to win but it’s gonna be at like 3 Am cause these games take forever!
October 15th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
what’s up guys….you might also recognize me as “Tim McCraver is my homey” and “Pete Incavligia is my neighbor”
I am ready to watch the phils send L.A. and their fair weather fans packing
October 15th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
Traffic….really in L.A. get the heck outta here
October 15th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
HAHAHAHA.
Joe Buck: “Old school LA crowd tonight as most haven’t arrived yet… I’m sure due to traffic…”
Nice cover you sly dog. LA fans suck, lets go Phils!
October 15th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
Plenty of seats still available
October 15th, 2008 at 8:16 pm

October 15th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
As Karros stated whoever scores first will win
October 15th, 2008 at 8:17 pm

October 15th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
YEAH BABY EAT **** DODGERS!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 8:17 pm

October 15th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
OH YEA!!!!!!!!!!!! J RO
October 15th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
No freakin way-JIMMY!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
FYI…I am rocking my J-Rol shirt tonight also
October 15th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
Oh man…this is exactly the way I wanted this to start. I think Howard will be giving moonshot Stairs a run for his money tonight too…I predict Ryan has a long one.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Deja vu from Milwaukee?
October 15th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Howard is due so is Werth
October 15th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Does FOX has the WS this year?
October 15th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Billingsly’s got nothing.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
billingsley is sick
October 15th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
SOMEONES RATTLED!!! Cole will have to show Billingsly how a true ace pitches.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
I am saying Billingsley is done before the third
October 15th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
Yes, Fox has the World Series
October 15th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
2 great at bats to start the game. Working the counts – either getting walks to pitches to drive.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
They need to get at least 3 in this inning. Then it’s game over.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
Ok, let’s have a single, double, and a triple this inning. Go Phils
October 15th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
Victorino is wearing the Fox microphone today. Interested in hearing what he has to say throughout the game.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
if furcal is hurt, i will laugh
October 15th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
OUCH
October 15th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
home run howard
October 15th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
protect the jewels Jason
October 15th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
“late and rather hard?” Shut up Joe Buck
October 15th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
I realize that they’re trying to work the pitcher here, but Utley’s gotta stop letting first pitch fastballs go by. He’s too patient right now.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
Thanks SJMike.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
i didnt say what inning…
October 15th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
Ha, good cover up Phils….
October 15th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
matt, i agree… nice fat fastballs crossing over… they’ll pick up on it next time through, i want to see hamels rock this.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
Hello, mute button. Tired of these guys…again.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
The Fonz? Really?
October 15th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Phillie Fan…funny you should mention Karros’ prediction.
When Eric Karros, a former Dodger, is asked who will win the game and he responds “whoever scores first,” that means he has no faith in his own team. If he did, he would say “the Dodgers” like he did last night. However, he realizes Philly is the better team, and to save face, he comes up with a ridiculous cop out like that. Pathetic.
GO PHILS!
October 15th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Barry Zuckercorn with the LA lineup.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Fonz, we’ll take the win too.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
For once, I wanna see a guest lineup reader read the lineup without having to look at the cuecards after every player.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Larry Anderson just got done ripping Dodger fans, noting how cheap tickets are on Stub Hub and how nobody is around. Seems like they’ve given up on the team, he notes. HA HA
October 15th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
The Dodgers aren’t as easy to fix as a jukebox, Fonzie.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
they’re playing clips from game 3 and everyone is cheering. no clips of matt ‘no homo’ stairs ruining their hopes and dreams.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
man that curve is sick
October 15th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
26 more….
October 15th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
The number of empty seats there is disgusting.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
haha hamels will shut this manny crowd up
October 15th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
NEPA – Is Bob LobLaw far behind?
October 15th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
Unless Manny can pitch, there is no stopping this offense and the Phillies.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
Did they just play the Sex and the City theme while showing Manny highlights?
October 15th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
Bob Loblaw’s Law Blog – “you sir, are a mouthful.”
October 15th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
Empty seats are ridiculous….good job staying away from him Cole
October 15th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
sj mike, yes… i do believe that’s what i heard…
October 15th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
Would like to see Cole be more agressive here. Let’s have him keep his pitch count low.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
That’s weird that they’d play that song. Also kind of weird that you guys know that’s the theme song.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
niiiiice.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
solid inning by Hamels
October 15th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
NEPA… my sister watches it… i swear…
October 15th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
24 more
October 15th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
Nepa, I was a Radio, TV, Film major and had a class on TV History. So I had to study all sorts of weird TV Shows. We actually did Cop Rock, Twin Peaks, and Sex in the City on the same day. That was a weird day.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
Would it be wrong to wish for Joe Buck to be rendered mute for the rest of his life?
October 15th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
Damn that crowd is pathetic…stubhub had tickets going for 13 bucks today. Unbelievable
October 15th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
We should sign Jack Bauer to play for the Phillies. I’d love to see him in an argument with a home plate umpire for strikes and balls.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
SJMike, thats a weird day….
October 15th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
C’mon, you guys, fess up, you all watch Sex and the City.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
Something not right about Cole huh?
October 15th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
ha, I would love to see Jack Bauer on the Phillies. All the umps would be dead.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
It’s funny, it’s like they purposly aren’t panning the crowd to show the empty seats.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
Man I wish McCarver would shut the hell up about Hamels
October 15th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
Burrell looked bad there
October 15th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
Honestly it was. Though Cop Rock was an awesome show strictly from an entertainment laugh you ass off at how bad it is value.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
yeah i watch sex and the city…in fast forward
October 15th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
i’d be more worried about billinsly who gave up a a lead off home run and a walk??
October 15th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
haha here comes fox and their PRO DODGERS!
October 15th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
For once I agree with McCarver, but I do think Cole’s first inning wasn’t that great. Him having his pitches up isn’t a good sign.
Why do they keep chasing that bullshit slider?
October 15th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
Goddamm McCarver.
What does he know about Hamels? He’s not even smart enough to not pass his teammates on the basepaths…..
October 15th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
Hamels is generally throwing up and away to righties in his first inning. I’ve seen him do that before. The ball comes down more over the innings.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
Alright pedro, nice hit
October 15th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
“Billingsly is lucky it stayed in the park.”
Really Joe? I mean, considering it landed in shallow left field as a line drive. You’re only about 250 feet short, but whose counting, right?
October 15th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
I didn’t realize Ruiz was hitting over 400 this series. He’s gotten a ton of clutch hits
October 15th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
Damn, was hoping they could turn the lineup over there..
October 15th, 2008 at 8:42 pm
I thought the same thing SJ MIke. Hamels looks fine.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
sj, haha, i swear i thought the same thing… i was like wtf you idiot
October 15th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
niiice pitch
October 15th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
LH, Hamels generally doesn’t throw his changeup much right away. He’ll throw fastballs and curves up and away and then in later innings throw those changeups low and people chase.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
my only concern for hamels is the long sleeve shirt on a hot day. reminiscent of the NLDS last year. Im just stating but I think McCarver loves ragging on the Phillies and Billingsley could give up 8 runs and get a dramatic turnaround
October 15th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
I love hearing the roar of the crowd on a shallow flyball
October 15th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
Good to see the Rick James lookalike is back behind the plate.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
I haven’t noticed anything wrong with Cole so far, but I’ve been doing other things, so I could be wrong. Did someone say he was hurt or something?
October 15th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
Damn, didn’t get that ball up high enough
October 15th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
Matt- hahaha, THAT”S who he looks like, I was trying to figure that out.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
Great double play.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
Nice DP.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Yes! there we go Hamels
October 15th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
dewiit should create a blog and cry about how he just “didn’t get it done, the team didn’t get it done.”
October 15th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
DP BABY!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
nice d philly!!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
LA three LOB, yes
October 15th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Double play…do you like THAT play, Tim? Had to take off mute…gameday audio won’t keep up with tv picture.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
twin killing!! 4-6-3!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
By the way, I’m laughing at a couple Mets fans complaining that Victorino is a showboat at Metsblog because he raised his arm when he hit the grand slam off of Sabathia, saying how we complain about Reyes being a hot dog. I guess they see the full out Broadway choreography Jose and friends do that is clearly rehearsed daily in a mirrored dance studio.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
big inning with 2 outs coming up, i feel it
October 15th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
if victorino wanted to top reyes, he would have dangled his hand in the air like a tard
October 15th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
SJ – also, Reyes will do it on June 18th in an 8-1 game against the pirates or some shit. When he hits a grand slam in the NLDS against arguably the best pitcher in the league, I’ll let it slide.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
Trust me, I’m not complaining. I just think it is hilarious.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
hows that for getting rollins on base??!?
October 15th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
Well, mute Joe Buck, volume up on debate with picture on game.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
…. http://www.shutuptimmccarver.com/
Who knew?!
October 15th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
wow what a slide
October 15th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
PERFECT slide by J Roll
October 15th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
like i said before… 2 out rally…
October 15th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
….. Long Beach? San Diego? WHo gives a F?!?!!?
October 15th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
Werth, you’re killing me Smalls, your killing me
October 15th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
Jason really has got to work on his average against righties next year. It’s really holding him back.
October 15th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
Haha, ok, I know our game is going on, but too funny. From Metsblog referring to why Jimmy Rollins is jealous of Jose Reyes:
“Yet Reyes is on the cover of video games, and in espn commericals, and has his own songs, and plays in the best city in the US, and is a sex symbol in latin america.
Jealousy is obvious. It’s just a shame that our ineptitude is letting that bum go to the W.S.”
October 15th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
haha, crowd silenced joey
October 15th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
cmon ryan
October 15th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
ok everyone, get ready… howard unleashes now.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
i think reyes is a sex symbol to gays. He looks like the biggest queer.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
haha omg. nevermind, that fastball was the one.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
WEll Howard missed his chance, that fastball was right down the middle.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
McCarver knows a lot about blocking balls
October 15th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
HOWARD!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Strong base hit by Howard. I’ll take it!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:04 pm

October 15th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Big hit by HOWARD!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:04 pm

October 15th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
Pat’s going deep
October 15th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
Howard may not be hitting bombs in the postseason, but he has gotten singles and walks when they matter.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
Great hit opposite field hit by Pat!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:06 pm

October 15th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
The fans are leaving to get their sushi!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
Singles… Singles work…..
October 15th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
i do believe i said 2 out rally.. here’s come victory-ino
October 15th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
Is LA traffice that bad? Where is the full house to enjoyed this hitting performance?
October 15th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
That kid sitting behind the plate with his sunglasses on is typical LA trash.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
Is LA traffice that bad? Where is the full house for this hitting performance?
October 15th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
look! i think i see fans leaving! haha victorino gets intentionally walked, he’s gotta feel awesome about that.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
Either that or he’s blind.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
omg… so much for all the analysts saying billingsley looked ready.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
Good call on the two-out rally Phils2611
October 15th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
The waving of the white towels gives the illusion that there’s a full house. Tough to tell, but I can see plenty of yellow in the OF bleachers.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
excuse my stutter
October 15th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
could u imagine leaving a game being the home team u could always come back.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but if you’re sick of the fox commentators, 1210 is making an effort to sync the radio up with the television broadcast tonight. it’s been a little early and a little late at times, but it’s pretty much right on now with the HD channel, not sure about the normal one though.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
yeah, well LA doesn’t have any faith. anyone want to play a drinking game? shot per run? we can retroact the first 3…
October 15th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
ps – omg… if torre makes 15 pitching changes tonight i will be so annoyed.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
I don’t even have a normal radio in my house anymore, but I have an MLB.com subscription. I’m assuming there’s the normal 15-20 second delay on there?
October 15th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
no 1210 online, right?
October 15th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
oh man, lets do to maddux what LA did to moyer.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
1210 is right on with my hd channel thank you christopher!!!!!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
Maddux is coming in? We couldn’t be in a much better position with Hamels settled in nicely it seems and Billingsly already out.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
You guys are ballers.. who has HD radio already in their homes?
October 15th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
yeah. chan ho park replaced billingsley, and they have maddux warming up and coming in for the 4th – ?
October 15th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
I have the AM radio standing by for the latter innings when the debate ends.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
Nasty change.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
there we go hamels, sexy.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
Matt I meant that the regular radio is synced up with my hd tv channel
October 15th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
18 outs to go until the World Series . . .
October 15th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
We need some more runs here, like 5 more. Then I can bring out the celebratory Gin and Tonic
October 15th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
If we win I’ll be celebrating with some cheap rum or MGD – college student.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
Facing Greg Maddox in an NLCS. Just like old times, eh?
October 15th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
Yeah, I think we can do more runs throughout the night.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
I’m a “journalist” now I have to have something boring…
If this was 5 years ago there would be a lot more than G+T involved…
October 15th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
Bud Light here… Already drinking haha.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
Anyone know who the dude behind milt is?
October 15th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
ouch. tough call hamels.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
That didn’t look like Strike 3 to me on Hamels.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
That is vintage BS. It was at his ankles.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
I know we wanna beat him up tonight, but it’s kinda sad in a way to know this will, in all likelyhood, be Maddox’s last game as a pro. He’s a true professional. Everyone wants to say Clemens (roids aside) was the best of the recent generation, but I’ll go with this guy every time
October 15th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
anyone intersted mlb.com is streaming the debate.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
wow… that pitch to rollins was nasty lol.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Break out the announcers’ kneepads…
October 15th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
That Strike 3 to Rollins was a nasty pitch though. That was a good one.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
Matty, i managed to skip out of my paper early to catch the game.
I hope these Inky and Daily News guys know we want their jobs.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
Anyone else feel like Buck is rooting for the Dodgers to come back? You can hear it in his voice…MF’er
October 15th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
so i am guessing that harry the k will not be calling 7-9 on 1210?
October 15th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Anth, Buck has been on mute. But I’m assuming he’s pulling his usual man love for the Dodgers tonight.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Wheeler said on daily news live today that harry will do the 9th for any potential clinching game
October 15th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
Sigh. They don’t fill those seats, even for the playoffs.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
It looks like the kid gave the sunglasses to his buddy. What a bunch of fags.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
God these fans don’t even deserve a playoff team, let alone a WS team.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
Cole is a machine tonight. “In total control” as Joe Buck just said. And we all know if Joe Buck says it, it’s so.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
did anybody here buck on WIP today by any chance? i wanted to know if that took place or anything
October 15th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
So there goes the blind kid theory.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
I have the 1210 feed on XM synced up with the DVR up here in MA. It’s beautiful! No more Joe Buck ever this year! God I can’t stand him with his stupid hair and graham-cracker shaped hands.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
Brian – I know everyone is on Kalas’s nuts, but Franzkie (sp) is 10x the play by play guy Kalas is at this stage in both of their careers. Franzkie has been relegated to the radio this year, it should be his inning to call. Wish Kalas wasn’t so pompus to realize this and step aside.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
MANNY GROUNDED OUT TEN MINUTES AGO! MOVE ON!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
This rip-off of the homer-hanky is ridiculous
October 15th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
woo, 15 outs left, go Phils!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
I have a feeling it was the Phillies brass and Scott Palmer who would have made the decision to have Harry call the 9th. Broadcasting is a profession where seniority rules.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
I love Kalas. Meeting him was a career highlight.
Yes, he’s in the twilight of his career and I if i were him, I’d retire after this year. Gotta go out on top and calling a WS, that would be on top.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
I agree that Franskie is a better play by play guy. That being said I still want to hear Harry’s call, tradition I guess
October 15th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Let’s go Fightins! Time to pile on Maddux
October 15th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
FRanzke is great, but it’s not his time yet. Harry Kalas is the voice of Phillies and will always be the voice of the Phillies. Until he is ready to step aside or until he dies, he will be the play by play man, and I’m comfortable with that.
Anyone but Joe Buck, or Chip Caray…or any other lame-a$$
October 15th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Rolling, rolling, keep those dodgers falling….
October 15th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Everybody hits this inning! Woooo hooooo!!!!
You guys know what I’m talkin about!
Man I already have a heck of a buzz and I’m only drinking a beer an inning!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
Werth getting it goin her in the 5th!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
I kinda miss Scott Graham. Whatever happened to him?
October 15th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
Graham was good
October 15th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
Franzke’s day will come, give it time. Just Harry is the voice of the Phillies. Anth said it best that until Harry goes one way or another, he will be the man calling the big shots.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Howard gettin on track at the right time!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Dave Hollins!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
FYI everyone…Burrell is a machine against Maddux lifetime. Almost a .350 batting average
October 15th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Everybody hits….WOO HOO! (except chase)
October 15th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Howard waking up that bat. I like it.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
yea graham was good, he does college basketball, villanova i think. He’s still pretty good. They should bring him back
October 15th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
No way! History repeats itself!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
Graham and the Management had squabbles over money (and probably his role). I don’t think he latched on with any other organization, but I think I’ve heard him on CN8 a few times doing Big 5 games.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
Where’s Mickey Morandini to hit a liner right back at Maddux’s leg when you need him?
October 15th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
geez, that 2 seem fast ball just hooks back… so nasty
October 15th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Yeah I used to see Graham at the St. Joe’s games all the time.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
i hate joe buck
October 15th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
HAHAHA furcal… good job.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Take your runs any way you can get them!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
yes
yes
yes
October 15th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
yea, more runs!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
wow. this is amazing!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
Who doesn’t, Sean?
October 15th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
furcal sucks!!!! He was supposed to be soo good this series, hahahaha
October 15th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
IBB again????
October 15th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
These Dodgers just look so…defeated. Like they’ve given up.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
haha man… victorino. i want to see him hit
October 15th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
the dodgers are folding in on themselves… get ready for craziness in center city philly tonight!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
gotta love compounding one error with another by the same player!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
i agree sj… from the start they looked defeated. i think LA knew it was over.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
Furcal is no Jimmy.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
GD I wish I were at my parent’s house in Downingtown, PA rather than in NYC right now. First and only time I’ve ever said that!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
Dave I;ll tell you, I would rather do what I am doing now. I am having too much watching my sons grow up and have my 7 year-old put “Victorino Jersey” in the top spot of his Christmas list…
Does anyone else think that Joe Torre looks like Walter Matthau in Bad News Bears?
October 15th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
sorry, knows its over…
i don’t think we’ll blow this. fingers crossed haha.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
Still waiting for McCarver to get on Furcal?
October 15th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
We need another hit, here Cooch!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
I know leaving Feliz in for his glove is the right thing to do there, but Dobbs pinch hitting would have been interesting.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Halloween has started early for the Dodgers. They look scary to their fans.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Here’s hoping Donald gets a long, hard look this spring at 3b. He’s doing pretty well in the AZ fall league playing at 3B.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
come on carlos!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
holy crap!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
furcal!!!!! THIS IS AWESOME… game over… they are so messed up.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
wow. this is ugly (but beautiful)
October 15th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
stick a fork in the dodgers… they’re done!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
whoa, another error by Furcal.
Go Phillies!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
wow, thanks furcal
October 15th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
haha, they panned on the sunglasses dudes.. surf’s up.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
we need myers bat… hah.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
I hope Myers gave him some pointers…
October 15th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
come on hamels!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
Let’s play a game of catch Dodgers
October 15th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
come on Cole! channel your inner Myers!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
The Dodgers have become the Cubs they beat in the NLDS.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
How much money did Furcal lose that inning? Good lord…
October 15th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
ok… so i do feel a little bad for the guy… kinda, but not so much lol.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
I really wouldn’t mind seeing Brad Lidge jump off his chair for the first time when Condrey gets the third out in the ninth inning, preserving a 9-run lead.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
brutal
October 15th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
Psst… Cole. Hit it to the shortstop.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
15 outs from the World Series!!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
I hope Cole can keep his pitch count low. He deserves to go all 9 tonight.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
looks like torre should have had his team work out…
so much for the beach.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
Is it wrong to be saying I wish we had more? 7 left on already! Just kidding this is unreal right now!
October 15th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
holy crap what an amazing turn of events for the phillies.
and yeah, i know my reply is really late, but i meant the regular radio is synced up on time with the HD tv channel. i don’t know the first thing about HD radio. but man has it been sweet listening to the home guys call this game.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Are three errors considers a turkey gone bad?
October 15th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Just realized i forgot to import the final inning and a half of last nights game onto my computer….. Gonna have to rewatch that…..
October 15th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Maybe it’s early, but forgive me. If Cole keeps pitching like this, who’s the MVP of the NLCS?
Victorino or Cole?
I’d almost say Cole.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Shane = Classy
October 15th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
I want to hear from Steve Phillips, Mark Grace, T.J. Simers, Jim Rome, and all the other countless people who have had such a man crush on the Dodgers.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
way to rub it in shane
October 15th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
DP ball. Lasorda also goes down dodging a foul ball…
October 15th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
too bad furcal isn’t up… if he hit into a DP that’d be hilarious.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
god who ever mentioned that guy with the glasses was right. he is wearing a manny jersey t. what a tool.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
it looks like furcal was crying
October 15th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
I like wher your heads at Phils2611
October 15th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
Mitch Hamels looks so much like Cole.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
Dude looks exactly like his brother
October 15th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
He even sounds like a ***** like him.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
heh man.. i hope i’m not about to eat my words from earlier.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Jamie if it stays this way I say Cole as well
October 15th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Well, this is a big inning. The crowd is really into it all of a sudden – shutting them down would be huge.
October 15th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
come on Cole, reign it in
October 15th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
come on now get this thing in line here boys! now we need the DP
October 15th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
haha the crowd finally showed up to the game… damn that LA traffic!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
YES! he is a DP machine.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:01 pm

October 15th, 2008 at 10:01 pm

October 15th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
Another great double play by Chase.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
Double’ing them up again and again, yes!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:02 pm

October 15th, 2008 at 10:03 pm

October 15th, 2008 at 10:03 pm

October 15th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
Wow Cole is the MAN!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
is that Cole’s wife sitting next to his brother?
October 15th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
Joe, Cole’s girl ain’t so bad looking herself.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
That’s Cole’s wife Heidi From Survivor.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
Now let’s drop the hammer this inning!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
Damn those Hamels brothers are players!! Heidi Strobel and that girl damn
October 15th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
Eh, she’s ok. There’s really two standards: The PA standard, and the CA standard. For PA standard, shes well above average, the CA standard, she’s avg.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
Heidi Strobel from Survivor and Playboy.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
runs runs runs… lets get em.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Uh, Matt, EXUSE ME???
October 15th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
i wonder if cole’s brother can pitch
October 15th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Matt, have you seen Heidi’s Playboy shoot? Google that and tell me she is average.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Georgie – sorry man, I guess I have higher standards. Hopefully everyone here knows there’s two standards, the CA standard and the PA standard.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
if she is average in California then i am in the wrong state
October 15th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
Joe, we’ve had our fill of pitchers named Mitch
October 15th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
hahaha, good point brian. LETS GO PHILS!!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
ok, maybe next inning!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
SJ Mike – I wasn’t referring to Heidi, I was referring to Mitchs babe.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
Sorry, but as a female, I don’t dig fake boobs, or anything else fake, for that matter.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
Man, McDonald is going to have a great career if he keeps shutting dudes down like he is in this series…
October 15th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
we could have got on mcdonald… i dont know why jimmy dropped the bunt for hit…
October 15th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
If I can see them and touch them, they aren’t fake.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:13 pm
Nepa, that is by far the funniest comment I have seen all day (next to the crap spued out by the Dodgers and Red Sox trolls here earlier).
October 15th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
NEPA – ROTFLMAO!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
NEPA, that was pretty funny.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
Burrell!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
and who says burrell can’t play D… hahaha
October 15th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
nice catch Burrell
October 15th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
NICE CATCH PAT
October 15th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
What a running grab by Pat! Defensive replacement by ass!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
Where is Don M? He was having fun today toying with RSF!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Love the phils rally towel behind the plate
October 15th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
everyone who has criticized pat’s glove just bit their tongue a little.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Tim McCarver get a sensible line, he said, “Phils prefer that Manny comes up with the bases loaded”.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
c’mon hamels, bring manny down.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
ok so whatever, solo shot. phillies vs manny.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
Why do they keep trying the high fastball with Hamels? He clearly misses low almost every time.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
Enjoy your last homerun of the year Manny
October 15th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
I’m loaded and manny just hit a bomb. Sucks for him he can’t run around 5 times. We still got this.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
F#CK YOU MANNY.
now we’re going to have to hear buck and mccarver orally service him for the next 10 minutes.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
….. Ooops.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
one run no big deal. back to business. now joe and tim and smoke manny’s hog for a few more innings.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
Oh come on…
October 15th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
Ugh, Hamels isn’t an “up the ladder” kind of guy. They need to stop doing this.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
strike out the next batter hamels. show the crowd their team actually does in fact, suck.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
stupid pitch
October 15th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
I had it on mute. How much of an orgasm did Buck have when Manny hit that out?
October 15th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
He had his mouth full on that call, Troy Aikmen stopped by the booth!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
Like I said before he can’t pitch so its all good shutdown pitcher or a guy who hits solo shots hmm….
October 15th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
they actually didn’t say much at first, then started talking about his pitch recognition skills
October 15th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
martin hahaha. we could have thrown AT you…
October 15th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
SOLID
October 15th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
9 outs to go!
Fox might love LA, but they will soon leave.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
Heave his ass
October 15th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Actually, McCarver had more of an orgasm then Buck did, but it’s only one run and Hamels just struck him on ouuuuuuuuuta there!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
…. Oh come on, show us Martin getting ejected!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
hahha Russel Martin (aka Turtle) for MVP!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Look at that. Martin is throwing a hissy fit. Not a smart thing to do when you’re the catcher and gotta go right back behind the plate.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Oh crap, you just know Martin’s having a hissy fit right now, hope they show it.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
that was a nasty pitch. Cole is the man. Solo HRs can’t beat us tonight.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
haha… big run inning for the phils… it’s coming. i feel it
October 15th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
Anyone know if there is a live stream of Harry and the crew out there?
I hate Buck and McCarver and would give anything to be able to listen to the crew
October 15th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
They should have tossed Martin there! He was definitely arguing that strike there.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
How was he not tossed for arguing balls-and-strikes?
October 15th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
i wonder who Fox will back-handedly root for in the WS?
October 15th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
hahaha, see, catchers dont argue calls…
October 15th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
I wonder if Martin will go home and take out his frustrations on Alyssa Milano…
October 15th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
the dodgers throw stuff in their dugout a lot… i’d be scared to be in there.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
I’m surprised Martin didn’t say he wasn’t throw that bat at the dugout, he was throwing over the dugout.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
Martin’s such a freakin cry baby. this whole team of dodgers are a bunch of whiners.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
Oh Fox will be all over Tampa like a Tampa stripper on a Pole….
October 15th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
Yes, pitching to Shane
October 15th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
That’s ridiculous. If it were anyone else, or any other game, Martin would have been tossed. He again shows his classy side by throwing a six year old temper tantrum, throwing shit and cursing as loud as he can. Real classy, you douchebag. Enjoy your off-season.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
haha victorino, you the man.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
Matty, does he have a poster of her or something?
October 15th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
nice vic!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
feliz is due
October 15th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
Why is Dobbs not in there?
October 15th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
yeah, phillies won’t get love in the WS… analysts will say, Tampa all the way. And then they will run the dramatic storyline of how they are america’s new team.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
Classy dodger fans.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
man, dodgers fan say they are classy… way to cheer the possibility of victorino being hurt, ass hats.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
Actually Georgie, Alyssa Milano mows down Dodgers like Don Larsen. She dumped Brad Penny for Martin…
October 15th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
All i remember of the 1983 NLCS is Steve Bedrosian coming in for the save….
October 15th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
classy fans started cheering when they thought Victorino was injured.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
Real classy fans. Only we do that shit though
October 15th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
Thank God Victorino is ok.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
dodger fans never seem to disappoint to see how low they will go
October 15th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
joe buck: well, victorino wanted to get hit in the ribs earlier in this series, he just did.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
pedro feliz is where rallies go to die. He’s left at least 8 on tonight.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
Cooch just missed one there…
October 15th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
well i was wrong about feliz
October 15th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
My best friend calls Pedro Feliz “Señor Out”
October 15th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
Ha ha, Cooch. Yes, I’m perpetually 12 years old…
October 15th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
9 outs to go! Let’s get it done!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
let’s be realistic, if it was someone like Martin instead of Victorino and the setting was CBP, you all know we’d be doing the same thing the LA crowd is doing
October 15th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
haha, we would have hit martin with beer bottles and got ejected… we’re TRUE fans.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
I love the fat dude with the beat LA shirt on behind the plate…priceless.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
I know Dobbs isn’t the best defensively, but no way is Feliz that much better at 3rd that it’s worth taking his bat out of the lineup. Hopefully in the WS they come to their sense a little and play Dobbs more (although he’ll probably DH)
October 15th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
I will say this tho….first time i’m actually watching the playoffs.Hearing Joe Buck and Tim McCarver tonight just tells me that they will be dry humping Joe Maddon,B.J. Upton and the rest of the Devil Rays next week.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
Yea Dobbs will DH. No doubt I would think.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
big inning for the good guys. shut ‘em down and make them cry in La La Land
October 15th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
Now I know Joe Buck is a lousy commentator, saying Victorina minmed “not my head; my ribs”, an inferred he got what he asked for. What a jerk
October 15th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
I’d play Dobbs in Left, make Burrell DH.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
Man, Fox is great at putting logos over good images. During Game 1 and 2, they had awesome helicopter shots of Center City and you could barely see them because of the gigantic ads superimposed over them.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
Dear god Shane can cover ground.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
victorino is the F’ing man…
October 15th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
GIVE THAT MAN A GOLD GLOVE!!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
wow, 2 sweet catches from Vic back to back! LA must really hate him now!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
Love how Buck is praying to Jesus Yahweh Elijah Allah for a dodgers comback and saying the phillies have left a lot on base lol
October 15th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
Oh McCarver, you are so witty. “Victorino may be the best buy the Phillies have had in the past 10 years.”
October 15th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
Holy crap Griffin! You aren’t kidding! He has literally left 8 on base! Unbelievable.
I have a man crush on Vic! I think I need a 8 jersey!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
hahhaa McCarver is gonna get a free DVD player now
October 15th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
yea Victorino, great speed
October 15th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
that Best Buy comment was priceless, terrible priceless!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
The only thing that would make this a truely “Philadelphia” moment would be for them to win the pennant, but have one of their big guys go down with a freak injury.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
so uh… if victorino doesn’t get MVP of NLCS i’ll be shocked.
we had a lot of contribution, but c’mon.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
What’s Hamels pitch count lookin like?
October 15th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
My husband’s getting pissed at me for yelling at the tv, I told him I’m not about to stop, if he doesn’t like it , go watch another tv.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
pitch count is of no relevance
lol
October 15th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
Hamels is at 90 pitches.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
hahaha, mccarver just said manny may come to philly, yeah right.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
Nice catch by that fan….
October 15th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
Go for three outs Shane, yes!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
Hamels is at 92 pitches
October 15th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
My fiancee (a red sox fan) has now taken refuge upstairs in the bedroom and says I’m being “loud”….
October 15th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Bad walk there, gotta make them put it in play.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Hamels leads off next inning, he’s thrown 92 pitches
October 15th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
Yeah, the hubby’s a frustrated Orioles/Rams fan, but he’s not spoiling this for me, NO WAY!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
c’mon hamels
October 15th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
6 outs to go!!!!!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
god dammit
October 15th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
Leave Hamels in definitely.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
keep Hamels in, it’s only the 7th.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
Orioles!?!? How can your forgive him for 1983?!?!?!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
they need to keep cole in there for the last out
October 15th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
You tell him Georgie. Something about I need to be quiet for a bit from my wife tonight – she went up in the 6th, too tired! Should have married a baseball wife who like camping too. Only kidding – 26 good years.
Come on Hamels lets wrap it up
October 15th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
Shit, sweaty hands now.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
oops
too early there
October 15th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
don’t take him out!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
this is a tough call…
October 15th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Here we go.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
this is so huge right now. Let’s go Cole!!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Please Hamels.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
come on Cole.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Leaving him in better work!! Lets go Phillies!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
alright, looks like uncle charlie’s confident in Cole… let’s do this!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
GOOD CALL!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
Strap in, Kids…..
October 15th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
im waving my towel wildly from NLDS game 2 lol.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
YES!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
YES!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
YEAH!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Bullseye!
This was Cole’s game and I’m glad he got to finish that inning!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Woooo!!!!!!!!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
holy shit!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:47 pm

October 15th, 2008 at 10:47 pm

October 15th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
6 outs to go, way to go Hamels!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
WOW!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
good thing we got that one… furcal was waiting on deck to try and redeem himself lol.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
The look in Hamels’ eyes when the count was 2-1 was straight up “I got this.”
October 15th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
104 pitches, 68 for strikes, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 4 SO, 1 HR, 1.93 ERA
October 15th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Man this is awesome! I had to follow the first three innings on my phone from work, then listen to four and five on the ride home. Jimmy kept me from getting too anxious, though. Once we had that lead you had to figure Cole was gonna hang onto it.
SIX MORE OUTS!!!!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Cole Hamels chief export is K’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
You know, Charlie may not be the smartest baseball guy out there and we’ve been hard on him in the past, but you can tell these players love playing for him and it is showing.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
Yea Yea – Thanks Cole, lets go Ryan I guessing in the eighth
October 15th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
Manny is up 3rd in Bot 8, right?
October 15th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
oy, Taguchi? i’d really rather have Myers in there!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
here we go wit SO “WHAT” TAGOUCHI
October 15th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
1-2-3 in the order for the Dodgers in the 8th.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
so taguchi so can’t hit… lol.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
yeah he is
October 15th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
Yea, Manny will be up 3rd. Must get those first two batters out. At least 1 of them.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
dude i can’t stand torre and his pitching changes
October 15th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
I love all of you. You guys really make this site what it is. Cherry bomb shots to all. Go phils
October 15th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
hahah he was in to get out taguchi, i am suprised they didn’t call in the fonz
October 15th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
Why are they bringing in a righty to face Rollins?
October 15th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
The two outfield outs and one being a long ball had me nervous. Guess who wasn’t nervous on the mound. Ace – the man – Mr. Cole Hamels
October 15th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
i discovered this site like, 3 days ago lol. i love it.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
frankford & cottman after the game
October 15th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
what a great moment for cole, getting the type of show of respect from charlie usually only shown for moyer. i think we just saw cole mature a few years in one moment.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
Rob, I only discovered this blog and started posting in September, but I love it. It is a great community to chat with fellow fans during games.
Plus, it helps pass time since 50% of the time when I’m working, I’m at a computer.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
sj, it’s what i’ve been doing at work the past few days haha.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
I would like to see some more runs here just to watch Dodger fans get up and leave early…
October 15th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
Old guy in the suit (left of the plate, first row) has a MILF of a wife.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
I’ve read this site all season. My Kudos to Tim for running such a great source of information. Really helps when you live nowhere near Philadelphia.
I’d go on but then I’d sound like Tim McCarver servicing Manny….
October 15th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
that Foxtrax thing is deceiving. If you look at Cole’s last pitch on gameday on mlb.com, it looks like a strike, but on Foxtrax, it’s not even close.
This site is awesome.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
bridge to lidge time.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
What a surpise. PitchTracker showed the last Hamels K as 4 feet underground.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
This site is great for out-of-staters. I don’t know any Phils fans out here. My wife is a Cubs fan who tolerates me. (She’s happy with the Phils because they’re “punishing” the Dodgers for pushing Chicago to another century of dismal existence.)
October 15th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
I have a bad feeling that the Dodgers are going to make this just interesting enough to force Lidge in to give us all indigestion. It can’t be this easy, can it?
October 15th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
hamels pitch did look a little low. but, the ump has been calling that all game, you gotta adjust to that strike zone.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
Foxtrax is a joke…Sandy Koufax would be throwing balls on that thing…And they can leave the glowing puck dealy at home too.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
That Hamels Strike 3 was one of those “too close to take with 2 strikes” pitches.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
matty, i think you’ll see lidge in 9 no matter what… it’s gonna be a tough last 6 outs, but you don’t win championship games without some hard work.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
come on Madson!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
Wow, Utley.
October 15th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
holy crap utley, seriously?
October 15th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
Nice play by Utley
October 15th, 2008 at 10:59 pm

October 15th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
How did Utley catch that?!!??!?!
October 15th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
nice catch Utley, 5 outs to go.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
Tagouchi = 14 points ii you could use a proper name in scrabble. Charlie sit down the empty bat next time unless you can use a speed replacement on the bases
Ohhhh Chase!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
amazing Utley… Superman at 2nd
October 15th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
what a freaking play. How did the announcers not go crazy for that Utley catch?
October 15th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
4 outs.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
Oh, did McCarver just say that Hamels now has the best changeup? Sudden change of events.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
4 outs go!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
amazing catch!! manny with nobody on!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
When i was working the College World Series, a bat flew out of a players hands and came right at me. Thankfully, hit 3 feet below me in the Fresno State dugout…. Damm scary s@#t seeing a bat come at you in a camera lens….
October 15th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
manny will NOT multi HR
October 15th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
Everyone will get up to leave if manny makes the 3rd out.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
Manny’s last at-bat as a Dodger
October 15th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
My girlfriend just said that Werth can squeeze her like he just did that fly ball.
She’s just from IL so she likes him.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
Manny’s last at bat as a Dodger….
October 15th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
Madson must be juicing…97!?!?!

GIVE HIM THE HIGH STINKY CHEESE!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
Creepy Griffin, creepy….
October 15th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
madson man… blow his ass away.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
Alyssa Milano is still smokin.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
Man, that towel is all over Alissa Milano’s face like… um… er….
October 15th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
Where is Madson getting this heat from? Wow.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
manny called time cause he hit his helmet with his bat.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
adrenaline….
October 15th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
that was creepy Matty…
October 15th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
dammit Jimmy!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
bad hop… it’s ok. we’ll get next out.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
what a hitter.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
Score that E-6 just to F with Manny?
October 15th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
Wtf was that
October 15th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
Not that it was a gimme play, but I’m surprised rollins didn’t get that.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
Man, that guy is a hard out, whether it is line shots, giant bombs, or little squirters, he can hit.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
haha joe buck wants a manny sandwich… with extra mayo.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
come on Madson, one more
October 15th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
3 more outs!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
3 outs to go! I’m loving this.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
RUSSEL MARTIN, YOURE TERRIBLE.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
Great job Madson. He has turned himself into quite the setup man.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
I think the whole Fox network wants a piece of that sandwich in their mouth Phils
3 more outs!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
3 to go lets go BABY!!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
3 outs away!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
THREE OUTS!!!! MY GOD THIS IS AMAZING!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
I don’t care what anyone on WIP would say – Manny Ramirez would kill this team. Don’t sign him. F him and F Scott Boras.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
who is this pitcher and what did he do with madson?….. dude’s a beast… 97 at least 7 times. ridiculous.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
3 outs til the PENNANT
October 15th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
Can we just get a few more runs here, seriously? Like 4 maybe? Just so I don’t have to stress…..
October 15th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
There has been some great stories in the Inquirer, ESPN, etc. Gillick is a master at putting teams together have just the right pieces.
Signing the “big name” doesn’t guarantee you anything. Look at the Mets, Yankees, Brewers, Cubs, and soon to be Dodgers.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
i agree actually… i’d try to resign burrell… if not, look elsewhere, don’t get manny.
This Phiily team needs to stay away from the “stars”. This team has earned everything they’ve gotten so far, through hard work and blending together as a team.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
OOOOOOOO MAN LETS DO THIS!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
Funny stuff FYI…the empire that is ESPN can’t even hire decent editors…the ticker currently reads Martin grounds out to end 8th, Ramirez “strained” at 2nd…lol.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
TIME FOR LIGHTS OUT DODGERS!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
i still wanna see howard crush one… get him warmed up for the WS.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
loney, blake and kent in the 9th?
October 15th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
mm broxton.. put him in… and lidge, yeah man, you got this.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
Lots of fans wore yellow tonight?
October 15th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
yes, loney, blake, kent and nomar in the 9th
October 15th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
i would love an insurance run right now
October 15th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
Great shot of Furcal picking his nose. Stay classy Fox.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
NICE NOSE PICK!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
I never thought that I would say this, but I actually feel more comfortable with Madson out there than I do Lidge right now.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
Furcal bobbled his booger and then threw it away
October 15th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
Victorino better get the MVP….easily most deserving
October 15th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
He won’t go deep on Kuo, though…
October 15th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
nah lidge will close it. i want howard to hit a hr cause then he’ll be like, oh… that was fun… i’ll do that more often. lol.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
3 -1, it could happen…
October 15th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
I’d love to see him jack one here
October 15th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Is there even a remote possibility that Bruntlett could go deep?
October 15th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
nice hit for rye-guy!!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Howard 3-4?!?!?
October 15th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
who cares about Manny, we’re about to win
October 15th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
Howard has been getting hits.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
time for Lidge!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
time to close… lights out lidge, lets bring it home.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
Well, here we go.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
No, no there isn’t
October 15th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
lidge time
October 15th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
You have to admit, Shane was saying what we have all been thinking. How does he do it?
October 15th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
Bruntlett is a very bad hitter. Who is going to be our DH against a lefty in the World Series? Oh well, enough about that, 3 outs to go!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
Wow, could Chris Coste look anymore disinterested in being a Phillie right now?
October 15th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
Oh wow….. just wow…. 3 more outs….
October 15th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
I’m not worried about Ryan any more. 3 for 4 with a run and an rbi tonight – that’s good production. He’s started hitting the last couple of games, and the power will come back if he’s hitting effectively.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
Chris “Soon to be Odd Man Out as Lou Marson is Backup Catcher Next Season” Coste? That Coste?
October 15th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
omg, I am giddy with excitement!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
very true. i hope lidge doesn’t make us have heart attacks, quick save plz. k thx.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
How manytimes are they going to show that Gibson homerun?
October 15th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
go figure another blow job for the Dodgers from Fox
October 15th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
look at fox, hoping that the dodgers come back
October 15th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
I cant take Joe Buck anymore. Enough.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
Lidge needs to not walk the first batter like he seems to do each and every time he is in a non-save situation…
October 15th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
my heart is about to come out of my chest!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
Dave – Yep thats it! He’s always had a chip on his shoulder since he’s been here, that’s the one thing I don’t like about Coste. If the guy could just catch and handle a pitching staff he’d be our starter, it’s obvious he’s a much better hitter than Ruiz.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
*looks down* It is!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
vintage lidge
October 15th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
Well, he didn’t walk him…
October 15th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
dammit Brad, just strike them out please!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
ohhhhhh dammit
October 15th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
wtf…always the flair for the dramatic
October 15th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
Oh for the love of christ, please don’t….
October 15th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
this series is gonna kill me.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
shit, i don’t like blake, he’s clutch sometimes…
October 15th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
Why hasn’t Coste been used as a pinch hitter?
October 15th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
There’s 1
October 15th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
phew.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
2 outs to go!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
Just throw gas lidge.. you don’t need to strike everyone out. Ditch the splitter, nobody’s chasing it anymore.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
2 more
October 15th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
Because he’s our only other catcher. If Ruiz were to get hurt we’d have to put Werth back there.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
Lidge wants Ruiz
October 15th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
DP ftw.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
YES, thank god!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
Wow, I don’t know how Victorino continually does that!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
1 out to go!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
Isn’t Marson available if Coste is used and Ruiz gets hurt?
October 15th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
ONE OUT AWAY!!!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
2 outs left – Jimmy can you made it two series in a row
October 15th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
Good grief….
October 15th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
it’s a good thing Vic is CF
October 15th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
even the “bandbox” would have held that in
October 15th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
No Marson is with the team, but not on the roster.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
garciaparra is fail.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
Brad Lidge has some Tugger in him. Flair for making it interesting in the 9th.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
WHY CANT IT EVER BE EASY!!?
October 15th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
Got it.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
one more strike!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:29 pm

October 15th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
It feels good celebrating in front of their crowd but nothing would have been like celebrating at CBP. But screw, were going to the series baby.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
I seriously seriously don’t believe it.
First time since I was 9, I’m going to see some World Series baseball.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
Phils can take it in 5 at the WS at CBP… that’d be a sight!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:35 pm
Oh sweet Jesus, the Phillies are in the World Series. I have chills and hot flashes all at once.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
i worked for the mets for 6 months. they are an embarasment to major league baseball. I was in hell being a Phillies fan in that shit hole. I LOVE MY PHILLIES!!!

October 15th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
I must admit, that was classy of Fox to replay Harry’s call there!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
OK, I got chills all over again hearing Harry’s call which they just played on Fox.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
CSN is showing the huge crowd at Frankford and Cottman.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
A well deserved WS I may add.
Sox or Rays will be tough, but honestly, we can play with anyone.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
I’m not believing what I’m seeing. Watching them receive the NL trophy.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
Congratulations on winning the NLCS…Good luck in the WS…nothing against your team but you guys are going to need it against the Rays…they look unstoppable…they have a winning combo of being good and young…So Good Luck…and I mean it..I always pull for the NL…Dodger Fan for Life
October 15th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
I can deal with Hamels being the MVP
October 15th, 2008 at 11:39 pm
congrats everyone, I am speechless!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:39 pm
Sometimes you wait and wait and then it builds ever so slowly through the years. The pitchers, the hitters, the coaches, a new stadium, the direction up and then down the lineup, and the ebb and flow of your home team games. Good memories like the sweet thought of sitting at the Vet watching Chase Utley’s first at-bat over the wall for a grand slam with your son. And now through the long wait it’s finally here – and now we can say it – The Phillies are the National League Champions!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
Ed Wade, psh.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
Everyone thought the Dodgers were unstoppable too. It’s on.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
Hahah, Gillick gives a shout out to Ed Wade.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
classy move by Gillick giving Wade some credit
October 15th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
Come on you Fightin’ Phils! echo your thoughts Griffin.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
matt, good point, i’ll be keeping that in mind when everyone picks the rays.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
Next Brad Lidge will give a shout-out to Mitch Williams and Steve Bedrosian
October 15th, 2008 at 11:42 pm
WHERE GOIN TO THE WORLD SERIES BABY…THIS IS UNBELIVABLE…LOOKS LIKE COLE’S THE NLCS MVP AND HE DESERVES IT.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
Cole Hamels is my illigitimate love child! Go KING COLE!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
uncle chollie said it best… resilient, team, 27 outs, we’re always in it.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
Wow, the end of Charlie’s interview there was pretty moving actually.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
haha, look everyone… torre is waving to the 10 fans in LA!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
As much as I hate to remind you guys….the Amazins celebrated in that very clubhouse a couple of years back.As much of a Mets fan I am and how much that I hate the Phillies (as a fan of course)….They earned my respect.I tip my Mets cap to the Phillies.Congrats and bring it home for the REAL league…the National League.BTW….who shut McCarver up?
October 15th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
I’m crying a little bit.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
The Rays are dangerous because they have no fear but we are the better ballclub, they mave have stronger depth but our elite guys are on a level above theirs.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:46 pm
Roxborough is going nuts!!!!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:46 pm
Alright guys and gals, im signing off for tonight… thanks for all those who’ve chatted throughout the game!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
PHUCK THE RAYS PHUCK THE RED SOX AINT NO STOPPING US NOW. THE RAYS PLAYED AGAINST ASS PITCHERS ITS TIME FOR THE REAL DEAL. ITS GONNA BE AWESOME WATCHING THOSE DUMB ASS RAYS PITCHERS HITTING AT THE BANK. LETS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
October 15th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
As immense as Cole has been the Ashburn has to go to the entire Philadelphia Phillies organisation, anyone disagree with that?
October 15th, 2008 at 11:48 pm
wait, before i go… one last joe buck bash… you suck so hardcore.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:48 pm
LH, nicely said.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:49 pm
NJ, you are absolutely right. Same deal when we won the Division.
2008 Philadelphia Phillies for the Ashburn.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
im pulling for you guys even though you kill me.
Bring it back to the NL Boys
October 15th, 2008 at 11:52 pm
Well done Phils!
I think Hamels gets the Ashburn, but I’d be happy to see “2008 Phillies” for the award!
Dang… it’s been a long 15 years, but it sure feels good!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:53 pm
Thank you to the Mets fans coming here to wish congrats and good luck.
You guys truly are part of the classy bunch and we thank you for showing that kind of class, unlike some of the people over at MetsBlog.com
October 15th, 2008 at 11:53 pm
remember way back when geoff was like “we’re just not a good team”?
October 15th, 2008 at 11:53 pm
this is fantastic. my god, i might weep.
let’s all pay some praise to carlos ruiz… he had a great series. catching, calling the game, blocking balls… a few big hits. For a guy who didn’t do much all season, he was awesome.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:55 pm
quick thought for Flash and Kendrick too.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:55 pm
WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Id like to here harry’s call if anyone can get it
October 15th, 2008 at 11:57 pm
Most impressive performance! Let it continue. Congrats Phillies, your 26th player (the fans) are in the dugout with you!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:58 pm
why are all these mets fans on our nuts?
October 15th, 2008 at 11:58 pm
WORLD SERIES!!!
I can’t believe I’m saying that.
LET’S GO PHILLIES!
October 15th, 2008 at 11:58 pm
You mean Mike T?? That was his phrase. I just get mad when they play like ass because I know that THIS is what theyre capable of…
Thats what makes this all more impressive of a run. We EXPECTED THEM TO DO THIS, but for a while they looked like ass and like they were lost. Victorino is the prime example. Charlie got them straightened out and he has them playing good baseball right now.
Cole Hamels finally proved in THIS series that he really is a big game pitcher. Now…anything can happen. If it is the Rays, I would NOT take them for granted, but they certaintly do match up well against them, dont they?
Also…I SAID they would get to the world series and after that its all up for grabs…Cant wait….they really do have a shot this time…maybe it really is their time.
October 16th, 2008 at 12:00 am
i am sooooo clearing my calendar for every upcoming game….
MVP – lots of ‘em! players, coaches, PhilliesNation, the Phanatic, etc. etc. etc.
October 16th, 2008 at 12:00 am
Harry just said the Phillies only world championship was in ‘80, isn’t this ‘08?
October 16th, 2008 at 12:02 am
So who is the DH now? Stairs or Dobbs? Seems like a tough call to me…
October 16th, 2008 at 12:02 am
Just realized I’m going to miss a big chunk of next thursday’s game. Un god damn believable
October 16th, 2008 at 12:02 am
Paul – easy call. Its Dobbs.
October 16th, 2008 at 12:03 am
Stairs as a DH….in case you need Dobbs glove
October 16th, 2008 at 12:03 am
Oh man…what a series…what a night.
Congrats to everyone! Great site – many thanks to Tim, Brian, Rob, and all of the others who make this a great place for all of us to come and rant, cheer, make fun of shitty announcers (see Sutton, Don), and most recently, chastize Joe Buck and the FOX crew. It’s been a great year for Phillies baseball, Phillies fans, and for all of us who’ve been with Phillies Nation!
We’re not done…let’s bring the rings home to the NL!
Kudos to the classy Mets fans, Dodger fans, etc. who show that they are adults and true baseball fans. Both of your organizations are very good and we appreciate your kinds words and enouragement as we celebrate!
GO PHILS!
October 16th, 2008 at 12:03 am
Stairs, the questions who DH’s against Kazmir.
October 16th, 2008 at 12:03 am
Dobbs should DH. He’s a more complete hitter.
Stairs is that guy you want on the bench to bring in.
October 16th, 2008 at 12:05 am
Stairs is a professional hitter, Dobbs has the most value off the bench.
October 16th, 2008 at 12:05 am
Funny Georgie
October 16th, 2008 at 12:09 am
If it is the Rays our big bats should be able to lock in at Tropicana.
October 16th, 2008 at 12:12 am
Are some people on here crazy? Why would we DH Stairs? “Dobbs is more valuable off the bench.” He will not have any PH opportunities for the pitcher. He’s an unbelievable hitter. It’s a very easy decision to make.
October 16th, 2008 at 12:13 am
I expect to see a Phillies baseball jersey on Billy Penn as soon as possible. G’night folks – hope to dream phillies game reruns. Gotta love this team!
October 16th, 2008 at 12:15 am
real quick – yes Nepa agree – his offense is too much to sit on the bench against Tampa
October 16th, 2008 at 12:17 am
I’d lean to Dobbs as DH too.
But man… Stairs has been around the block a few times and knows how to hit too.
October 16th, 2008 at 2:09 am
I am in complete emotional disarray. I’m young, but I’ve always watched the Phillies. I’ve been with this team since April, through good and bad, as most of you can relate. This year feels different. The players attitude is perfect. This is an opportunity and they know it and at the very least, we should all be grateful that we can be a part of this. Seasons like this should be cherished and we should take everything we possibly can from such a moment. My congratulations to not only the 2008 Phillies, but to the consistent (often frustrated) support of Phillies phans and PhilliesNation.
Yours Truly, Rob
PS – I totally cried when Manuel spoke.
October 16th, 2008 at 10:19 am
For the series I would start Dobbs at DH, or Howard at DH and Dobbs at 1B. We won’t need to use Dobbs as a pinch hitter, so it would be nice to get his bat in there 3-5 times a game.
