NLDS Game 2 : Brewers At Phillies (1-0)
Posted by Tim Malcolm, Thu, October 02, 2008 05:15 PM

Game 2 : National League Division Series
Phillies lead 1-0
Milwaukee Brewers at Philadelphia Phillies
Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia
6 p.m. / 63, sunny
CC Sabathia (17-10, 2.70 ERA) vs. Brett Myers (10-13, 4.55 ERA)
With a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five NLDS, the Phillies now have to face Brewers ace CC Sabathia, owner of the league’s best ERA since the All-Star break. He went 11-2 down the stretch for Milwaukee, including two straight wins on three-days rest. He’s on three-days rest again tonight.
Brett Myers toes the rubber for the Phils. He also had a big second half, going 7-4 with a 3.06 ERA after a demotion to the minor leagues.
News & Notes
Sabathia has only faced the Phillies twice, and was struck for seven runs in 12.2 innings. … Myers threw a complete game to defeat the Brewers Sept. 14. … No Brewer hitter has hit well against Myers. JJ Hardy is a career 0-for-10 hitter against him.
The Lineup
Jimmy Rollins / SS
Chase Utley / 2B
Jayson Werth / RF
Ryan Howard / 1B
Pat Burrell / LF
Shane Victorino / CF
Pedro Feliz / 3B
Chris Coste / C
Brett Myers / P
Your Gameday Beer
With two pudgy guys on the hill tonight, I’m recommending Guinness. Good, old fashioned Guinness. It’s a tasty beer, for sure, and won’t kill ya. But make sure, if you have one, to pour it into a stout glass. It’s the only way to drink one. As a note: I’ll be sitting in section 303 for this one. Here’s hoping Brett does his thing against Milwaukee, and our boys can get a hit (or run) or two against CC.
Go Phillies!

happy to see j dubs in the 3 hole. i think it will take some pressure off of chase and he may do some damage there.
go phils!
October 2nd, 2008 at 5:20 pm
I like our chances tonight. I think this team and especially this pitcher thrive when the world under estimates them. No one thinks we can win this game. That can be a positive thing for us tonight.
Can’t wait for game time. Go Phils!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 5:29 pm
they changed the lineup? i thought it was:
j roll
vic
utley
howard
burrel
werth
and so on
October 2nd, 2008 at 5:30 pm
with ruiz catching
October 2nd, 2008 at 5:31 pm
Your lineup is correct according to gameday matt.
October 2nd, 2008 at 5:35 pm
Lets Go Phillies!
October 2nd, 2008 at 5:39 pm
I hope they have Happ warming up in the bullpen in case we get the ugly-side of Myers today.
Nevertheless, he did say that his “angle” was “back” so let’s hope he surprises everyone and shuts them down!
October 2nd, 2008 at 5:39 pm
Werth is batting in the 6 hole.
October 2nd, 2008 at 5:42 pm
Almost game time! Here we go
October 2nd, 2008 at 5:50 pm
Longest ten minutes ever.
October 2nd, 2008 at 5:50 pm
Time going slow for anyone else? Very excited for this
October 2nd, 2008 at 5:56 pm
CC’s got to have a bad game sometime right, RIGHT?
October 2nd, 2008 at 5:56 pm
Holy shit I’m freaking out yet again
October 2nd, 2008 at 5:57 pm
The big thing that has me worried is Myers… We’ll know after the 2nd inning if this game is over or not.
October 2nd, 2008 at 5:59 pm
He doesn’t have to have a bad game for us to steal it, but it sure would help!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:01 pm
Strike 1!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:02 pm
a bad game for CC would be giving up 2 or 3 runs.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:02 pm
damn html.
Looks like it’s good Brett out there.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:02 pm
Cameron is posing for the Journal Sentinel photographers – lol
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:03 pm
That’s a strange start.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:08 pm
Looks like you might have spoke too soon, Craig. Still too early to see.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:08 pm
Is it ugly Myers out there?
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:08 pm
Oh FFS.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:09 pm
C’mon a DP, please….
DAMN IT
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:09 pm
Mike – my bad, sorry.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:10 pm
Double play!! WHOOHOOOO
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:11 pm
Alright, minimal damage. Let’s strike against CC
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:13 pm
Man i hope Myers can settle in because that was an ugly first inning.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:13 pm
Some patient at bats are required. Try and get CC out of the game sharpish.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:16 pm
SHANE!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:17 pm
FIRE IT UP VIC!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:17 pm
Alright…let’s get a fly ball!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:18 pm
I say: SQUEEZE
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:19 pm
Man CC is gonna dominate these lefty hitters.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:21 pm
THAT WAS NOT A STRIKE!!! BOOO
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:22 pm
See? We should’ve gone for a squeeze play __ESPECIALLY with big Sabathia and speedy Victorino
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:22 pm
After that first inning, forget beer, already switched to whiskey.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:22 pm
Wow, that was a ridiculous Strike 2.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:22 pm
Yea this umps a moron…I saw a couple of pitches Myers through that should of been strikes and he called em balls.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:22 pm
Umpire gave Sabathia 5 inches off the plate yet didn’t give Myers 1.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:24 pm
That ball wasn’t even close to TBS K-Zone.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:25 pm
I agree.that call was atrocious and obviously pissed Howard off
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:28 pm
Yea Myers!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:28 pm
good inning for Brett there… hopefully he can keep that up
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:28 pm
Needed that quick inning.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:28 pm
Is it me, or is the ump just not giving Myers the corners?
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:30 pm
This team needs to learn how to bunt. Why was there no squeeze bunt with Victorino on 3rd?
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:32 pm
Has anyone got a feed they can post the link to?
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:34 pm
oh yeah J DUBS!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:34 pm
yea Werth!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:34 pm
WERTH!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:34 pm
WERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTH!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:34 pm
CC is very hittable tonight. If Brett can settle in we should get to them sooner or later.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:34 pm
There you go Werth…We just gotta find ways to get these guys home now.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:35 pm

October 2nd, 2008 at 6:37 pm
CC’s strike zone has its own zip code.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:38 pm
Now we need Myers to get a hit hehe
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:39 pm
Only thing better than the Phils making the playoffs…Don Sutton announcing the Phillies in the playoffs.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:40 pm
Vote for Pedro!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:40 pm
Nice AB by Myers!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:40 pm

October 2nd, 2008 at 6:42 pm
HE WALKED HIM!!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:42 pm
Un-freaking-believable!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:42 pm
HOLY SMOKES! SABATHIA WALKED BRETT!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:42 pm
what a walk by Myers . . .
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:42 pm
That was the greatest at bat EVER! This tops Myers bases loaded at bat vs. the Mets.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:42 pm
Alright J-roll you MUST get a hit after that!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:43 pm
SJ Mike… i think you’re right!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:43 pm
I take that back. These announcers are almost as bad as Sutton is.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:44 pm
WOOT WOOT
Walk it out
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:44 pm
HOT DAMN!!! keep it up boys… make CC work for it!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:44 pm
Man, we have to capitalize here…at least a couple of runs!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:44 pm
You know, I would’ve been happy had Myers struck out with CC throwing that many pitches. Now that they’re loaded, I want blood!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:44 pm
Will he find the plate again?
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:45 pm
HOLY SHIT WE ARE GONNA BRING THIS BIG BEAR DOWN !!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:46 pm
Shane can you get that 1st inning double, again?
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:46 pm

October 2nd, 2008 at 6:46 pm
YES VIC!!!!!!!!!!! YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:46 pm

BOOM! There goes the BOOM! Ready or not!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:48 pm
SHANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:48 pm
First career Grand Slam for Victorino – I can’t think of a better place at this point in his career for him to get it, either.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:48 pm
Wow, I have to calm down now. There’s still 7 innings left to play.
And yes, I realized I made an overcliched sports reference to a POD song.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:49 pm
HOLY SHITTTTTTTTTTTT THEY ARE GONNA KICK ME OUT OF MY APT!!!!!!! PHILLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHANEEEEEEEEEE!! MYERS THANK YOU FOR THAT AB
AND SHANE’S FIRST career GRAND SLAM: against CC SABATHIA… how sick is that?!??!?!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:49 pm
HAHA, Sabathia’s ERA right now is 22.50! LET’S GO PHILS!!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:49 pm
Shane came to play today!!!! Grand slam!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:50 pm
So, who are we gonna face in the LCS?
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:51 pm
BrewTown, let’s get there first. I know it looks good, but let’s still focus on tonight’s game for now.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:52 pm
I wonder how this will affect Sabathia’s stock now in the offseason as a free agent.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:52 pm
Im so happy right now. I love it. this is incredible. Did they work on Myers plate discipline in the minors too? haha GO PHILS!!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:52 pm
As amazing as it feels, this game is far from over. Hopefully they stay at it.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:53 pm
OK, OK, but Milwaukee’s rotation:
1. CC
2. Convelescent Ward at St. Francis Hospital
3. My Great Aunt Clara
4. TBA
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:53 pm
god i love shane victorino. and what an AB by myers!
couldn’t have asked for a better start to this game!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:53 pm
i loved seeing all those vic comments right in a row. am azing
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:53 pm
I wonder how this will affect Sabathia’s stock now in the offseason as a free agent.
It just adds to the whole “he cant perform well in the playoffs.” We’ll take him for cheap!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:53 pm
…so, you know, if we’re pounding CC…
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:53 pm
come on Brett, reign it in man!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:54 pm
As NEPA said, this game is far from over…but man I wasn’t expecting this!
Cmon Myers!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:55 pm
I have full confidence in Myers. We can go all the way back in the archive where everyone was calling for his head and I knew he would turn it around in the minors. As much as you hate to admit im right, arent you glad I was? Sit down Durham, this is a man’s sport.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:56 pm
MYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:56 pm
I love the sound of the stadium. Wish I was there!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:57 pm
Tim and I are here with our boy Bill and this shit is wild. Maybe the greatest inning ever to witness.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:58 pm
Phillies Nation trip to the NLCS??
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:59 pm
Shut up TJ don’t jinx it!
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:59 pm
Guys, wait til we get to the NLCS before we talk about it. Never deal in absolutes.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:00 pm
So far…. CHARLIE MANUEL has been the star of the game…How about that!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:01 pm
My friend’s boyfriend is a writer for Baseball America and I just told him on the phone what happened. He couldn’t believe it.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:04 pm
Manny – Im not jinxing anything. There’s no such thing. If it happens it happens. If it doesnt then Ill buy you season tickets. Thats how confident I am. But I really wont buy you season tickets. haha
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:05 pm
Werth is making up time for last night.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:05 pm
oh yeah j dubs again! niiiiceee!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:05 pm
WERTH (again)!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:05 pm
Victorino / Werth (what a move by Charlie)
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:05 pm
I guess that’s why Werth likes swinging at high fastballs.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:06 pm
sorry to go off-subject but in need of managers for a NHL keeper league, anyone interested?
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:06 pm
Anybody see Sabathia’s ERA right now for the post season is 16.98
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:07 pm
NJ – ESPN?
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:07 pm
Charlie’s move has probably been the best all season
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:07 pm
SJ Mike – hes losing millions for every run over 3 i bet.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:07 pm
This one start will not change anything for Sabathia in the offseason. He’s still one of the best pitchers in the game, and a workhorse at that. He will (and should) get paid handsomely.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:08 pm
Get the bullpen up brewers.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:09 pm
ESPN league yep
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:09 pm
The BEST he can do is leave it 5.00…and I don’t think that will happen
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:09 pm
Jamie – There’s no doubt he will get paid handsomely, but he isnt helping himself with these postseason starts
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:09 pm
NJ – Im in.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:09 pm
Jamie, I think the issue is that he’s been worked to death the past 2 weeks, overused, etc. And he has had an awful playoff career so far.
I be you that will be in people’s minds when the issue comes up.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:10 pm
He should get his payday, but you know now the knock on him will be that he chokes in the post–season. Not that he actually does; the Red Sox beat everybody the last few years and he’s had one bad inning here, but if he looses tonight and doesn’t pitch again this year, ESPN will make that their narrative in the off season, and those things have a life of their own. He’s probably loosing money big time tonight.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:10 pm
TJ – what’s your e-mail, will send you an invite.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:10 pm
tjsunstein@yahoo.com
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:19 pm
What a hat-catch by that fan.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:19 pm
that was an awesome catch by that fan
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:19 pm
For all the people I’ve seen wave their hats at foul balls, I’ve never seen someone catch one!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:20 pm
Holy Shit… Myers is quickly becoming one of my favorite players
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:20 pm
Brett’s battling! I love it!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:20 pm
Are you kidding myers?!!!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:21 pm
what an ovation for a fly out! Im loving this
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:21 pm
Beautiful out – Meyers has cost CC 19 pitches so far tonight. CC’s irritated by it, too.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:22 pm
CC’s probably out before the 6th i bet
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:23 pm
Phillies are just being patient and letting his pitch count go up! Good job!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:23 pm
We have 3 guaranteed innings+ of bullpen action headed our way to add to last nights total… So happy i can’t even put it into words!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:23 pm
J-ROOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:23 pm
Right – idiot announcer calling CC’s night a matter of “just a few bad pitches” and then a moment later “six extra-base hits”
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:23 pm
Great 2 out double
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:24 pm
CC’s 4th consecutive start on 3 days rest, they have been working him like a beast.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:24 pm
MAKE THEM PAY CHASE!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:24 pm
wow, this might be Vic’s first IBB in his career… can anyone check that?
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:25 pm
I think this is CC’s last batter.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:26 pm
Definitely his last batter I would think
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:26 pm
When Vic’s being intentionally walked you know you’ve reached the point in the series you have the upper hand. Go Phils!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:26 pm
A double-steal would be beautiful
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:28 pm
got want you wanted Manny!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:28 pm
I bet that they want to take CC out now so he could pitch a Game 5
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:29 pm
haha double steal!! Now Chase, homer.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:29 pm
SABATHIA OUT!!! LET’S GO PHILS!!!!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:29 pm
Bye bye CC
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:29 pm
Na-na-na-na – Goodbye!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:30 pm
CC YOU LATER!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:30 pm
You seeing CC’s last batter for sure now.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:30 pm
Looked like CC mouthed something to the crowd on his way out.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:31 pm
Georgie, he probably said: I want to play here.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:32 pm
We really frustrated CC, I almost feel bad. If we don’t let up we have this game.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:33 pm
Now is the time to put this one beyond reach…
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:33 pm
THat was the same fan just got that foul ball!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:33 pm
Howard hasn’t had a hit yet
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Yea…seriously? What are the odds??!?!! 1 in 10000?
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:35 pm
Hey, they chased him out of the game and that’s 5 innings of Brewers bullpen now.
I know it’s been said a lot, but the Brew Crew look a lot like us last year.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:38 pm
Clutch at bats by brett myers making CC work. Clutch hitting by shane victorino and jayson werth. im so pumped that they knocked out sabathia after 4 innings!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:39 pm
Headin’ out for the night, gonna watch the rest of the game at the bar. Go Phils and hopefully I’m throwing back a celebratory shot by 9. Have a good one.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:40 pm
Oh man…it looks like we have 2 aces in the postseason!
Keep it up Myers!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:40 pm
Meyers is getting it done tonight, too. Not like King Cole, but he’s getting ahead of most of the batters and keeping the bases empty.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:41 pm
Oh, and that Grand slam was the loudest I’ve yelled possibly ever for something Phillies related. I’m sure its the same for others.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:51 pm
C’mon Ruiz!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:52 pm
Holy cow!
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:53 pm
holy crap brett are you kidding me! haha amazing.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:54 pm
Oh – he hit that so hard. Too bad.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:54 pm
anyone else for the NHL h2h keeper league? Couple of spots left…
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:59 pm
Great play from Ruiz there.
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:08 pm
7 walks, stuff dreams are made of…
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:11 pm
All I know is I’m stoked at this team’s playoff chances this year. I seriously think that if we close the deal on this tonight, we’ve got the series, and we absolutely will have a decent chance of advancing to the World Series if the hitting and pitching keep up. It’s exciting to see – it’s like we traveled back to 1993! Break out the mullets and roids!
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:12 pm
How many have they left on base by now? Not that I’m complaining…
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:14 pm
10 LOB for the Phils, 3 for the Brewers
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:18 pm
We need to be able to score in more than one inning, you know.
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:20 pm
Through seven!
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:21 pm
Good inning, good inning
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:25 pm
I’d leave Myers in at least to start the 8th…
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:25 pm
Gag – ne!
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:29 pm
Nice work by Meyers – and I think he was starting to miss his spots. This is a good move – but I would sure love a run or two.
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:31 pm
GagnERA
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:33 pm
Ryan for the final 2.
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:33 pm
Six outs to go…
I don’t like the 10 runners left on base, but the starting pitching has been lights out. That’s the playoffs for you
Let’s go Durbin and Lidge!
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:34 pm
lets go Madson!
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:35 pm
The 10 LOB gives something to think about….
Hopefully Madson will get 3 quick outs..and Lidge (panic button)will try to save the game
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:35 pm
scratch that: Madson and Lidge!
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:35 pm
Don’t give them outs!
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:36 pm
God damn rollins.
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:40 pm
Ryan Madson’s “Brad Lidge” impersonation…
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:40 pm
As always, these last four outs will be a dog fight…
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:41 pm
Just a brutal error, and the offense has been pathetic.
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:41 pm
starting to get nervous here
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:41 pm
C’mon, Kyle, JRo’s defense has been great.
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:43 pm
whewwww what a relief!
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:44 pm
I don’t care who you are, that is terrible batting technique…You don’t swing at the first pitch there. Let’s score a run!
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:44 pm
CHASE UTLEY doesn’t even need a hand just a glove
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:44 pm
Rollins has been fantastic, but the point remains: the error was brutal.
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:45 pm
what a huge inning for the bullpen. 3 more outs to go guys. and hey, don’t be afraid to score a few more runs first!
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:47 pm
And the Phils’ pitching has been sensational.
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:47 pm
alright J-Roll, let’s get this rally going!
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:48 pm
There you go. It’d be nice to see the top of the lineup function like it should for a run or two here.
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:50 pm
I want to see Rollins take a base here…
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:51 pm
That hurt.
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:51 pm
ouch, that wasn’t good
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Well, there you go, sorta…
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:53 pm
i’m not so sure about putting Lidge in tonight… why not close by committee?
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:55 pm
Lights out Lidge time again.
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:55 pm
Time to panic…it’s Lidge
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:56 pm
gotta go to lidge. it’s the playoffs, this is what he’s here to do. he said after the game yesterday that he’d be 100% ready for tonight. believe in brad!
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:58 pm
Cardiac Brad.
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:58 pm
good catch Bruntlett!
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:59 pm
oh yes oh yes oh yes!
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:59 pm
1 out to go!
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:59 pm
CT, he’s pitched in one game since almost a week, and he has tomorrow off, so I don’t think it’s that big of a deal.
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:00 pm
Cmon Lidge one more out!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:00 pm
You think Brad is “Cardiac Brad,” imagine if we still had Jose Mesa as our closer! I’d already have had three strokes and two “big ones.”
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:01 pm
C…C…C-ya!
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:01 pm
YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:02 pm
WE WON!! WE BEAT SABATHIA!!!!!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:02 pm
yay!!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:02 pm
that’s a big L for Sabathia there!
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:04 pm
YES! thats awesome. Clinching day saturday with Jamie Moyer on the mound. Cant wait! They jumped all over CC, that was awesome. great win. MUCH MUCH better SAVE from lidge. best save hes had in a while. cleanest at least…
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:04 pm
did he just call Brett Randy?
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:05 pm
He did call him Randy. What a jackass
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:06 pm
I heard Randy too…
Whats the deal with that?
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:06 pm
how sweet it is!
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:12 pm
What a win…I was almost sure today was a loss with CC Sabathia on the mound.
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:13 pm
i’m not sure who to nominate for the Ashburn… Brett or Shane? tough call.
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:19 pm
I say Brett for Ashburn. Did it all pitching and at the plate.
On another note left a lot of guys on tonight. That could come back to get them later on in the series here.
Great win tonight and have all the confidence in the world in Jamie on Saturday.
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Shane for the Ashburn!
I mean, Myers was great… but Victorino was OUTSTANDING…he got a GRAND SLAM, his 1st in his career, and off CC SABATHIA –plus 2-doubles!! Simply insane.
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Definitely Shane of Ashburn. He won us the game with that Slam.
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:55 pm
all i know is that i called CC getting tagged tonight. see the story on cole being moyer-esque…ha!
go phils!
October 2nd, 2008 at 10:14 pm
you know what is so great to see (beside your beer selection, Guinness), the Phils look like they are having fun. That’s the way it is supposed to be, play a game, have fun. Too me, it is a great sign!!!! They are relaxed.
October 2nd, 2008 at 10:25 pm
damn, I am so pumped!
Let’s beat up on Bush in Milwaukee. (I just realized how funny that sounds.)
Myers for the Ashburn. He could have let that first inning ruin him, but he settled down and pitched great and got on base multiple times.
October 2nd, 2008 at 10:35 pm
Let’s destroy Bush!! Arghhh!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 10:39 pm
What I like the most is that they are playing to win as opposed to playing to not to lose.
October 2nd, 2008 at 11:32 pm
I’m torn but I have to go with Shane tongith for ashburn over myers. We all know myers can shutdown the brewcrew, but shane came through big on a tough pitcher
