Phillies Nation Updates

Posted by Brian Michael, Tue, October 21, 2008 03:45 PM

It’s the World Series and there’s a lot going on here at Phillies Nation in the run up to Game 1 and throughout the Series.  Here’s the rundown.

Contest – If you haven’t submitted your reasons why you are the biggest Phillies fan, you better do it soon, the submission round for entries ends tomorrow.  Remember this is for 2 tickets to Game 4 of the World Series!

Phillies CastWe’ve had over 250 entries so far, here is one of the good ones:

After dropping a knife on my foot and severing the tendon in my big toe, I had surgery and was put in a cast. Not just any cast, though. A red one. With a kick-ass P.

Free T-shirts – Congratulations go out to Jersey boys Eric from Collingswood and Matthew from Vineland for each winning a Phillies NL East Champs t-shirt.  Sign up for the next round for a chance to win a Phillies NL Champs shirt.

Game-watching Parties – There will be another game-watching party in Washington, DC tomorrow night for Game 1.  The usual spot, Capitol Lounge, will be the destination – get there early.  For everyone else in the World, leave a comment telling people about your plans on our Phillies Bar page.  We’ve received lots of emails from people looking for places to watch the Phils in Tampa, Austin, Phoenix, San Francisco and Boston.  If you know of something cool, let us know.

Tailgates – Preliminary plans have been put together to host tailgate parties for Games 3 and 4 this weekend in one of the parking lots by the ballpark.  So if you are going to the games, just look for the big red Phillies Nation flag and the grill full of hot dogs and cooler full of beer.

Podcast – Tomorrow at 6pm I will be talking with the guys from the Central Maine Sports Blog about (what else) the World Series. Tune in for some pre-game fun.

…just 1 day remaining until the 2008 World Series.  Go Phils!

My daughter and I will be attending Game 4, so I’ll look for the Nation flag. It will be an interesting day because my daughter’s friend couldn’t go to the Eagles game, so I’m going instead to a double banger, a twin bill, an Ernie Banks wish. I fully expect to see the doublemint girls that day. And if I were to die on Monday, St. Peter can’t play a heaven and hell joke on me. I’ll know the difference. Because I would have already had a glimpse of heaven on Sunday before I arrived.

  2. Don M Says:

Which POSTS were people talking about selling their tickets for the games in Tampa Bay… one of my buddies that lives in Myrtle Beach is driving down, and he was looking for tickets on StubHub

  3. Paul Says:

I read this blog every day. And absolutely LOVE it.

However, sometimes I wish it wasn’t called “Phillies Nation”. Reminds me too much of “Red Sox Nation”.

  4. Manny Says:

I saw WORLD SERIES tickets for 180 (seats, not standing) on stubhub for games 1 and 2. That team has no fan base whatsoever. I hope a bunch of Phillies fans get all of those tickets available.

Meanwhile STANDING room tickets in Philly are SO EXPENSIVE. This city is so hungry for a championship. I love it. GO PHILS!

  5. Georgie Says:

I just registered to the central maine sports blog a few days ago. Matty who sometimes posts on here does some blogging for them, plus their home page has Stewie Griffin AND Christopher Walken on it, how can you go wrong?

  6. Matt S Says:

For those Phils phans in Tampa looking for a place to watch the game…I heard there’s this place down there, real big lots of empty seats/old women ringing annoying cowbells…called the trop or something…IDK look it up I think you will be suprised

  7. Manny Says:

For those Phillies fans in Tampa: go to stubhub and buy relatively cheap tickets for a WORLD SERIES game!!! The economy is bad but cmon!! Phillies in the world series!! Just dont eat for a week, but get your tickets for Game 1 or 2.

  8. SJ Will Says:

I’m in Wilmington, North Carolina at college but I’ll be back this weekend for the home games. If anyone who reads this knows someone or somewhere in the area that supports the phils please let me know. I don’t want to watch with all the front running rays fans.
Really Tampa Bay? Cowbells? In that tiny ass INDOOR stadium you need noisemakers? You can’t just use your voice? O that’s right, you’re all over 75. The Bank is completely open and it gets so loud I can hear it all the way down here in NC!

  9. Phil Says:

I will be at game 3 and will be tailgating. If there is a spot to tailgate on Saturday please make a post about it, Tim so I can attend and party with the nation!

  10. mikemike Says:

Tim can’t he tailgate in the hotel parking lot on packer ave at tenth.

  11. Tim Malcolm Says:

We’ll see what we can do. I might be in transport Saturday morning, but we’ll see if we can get an exact locale up.

  12. Philajen Says:

I plan on tailgating in the link on Sat & Mon usually in the area of K7 or K5. I am the loud one with long curly brown hair that will be doing shots of Rocky Mountain. Come Join Me for one!!! Lol Go Phillies….
