    The parade is almost at the park, and there’s still alot of seats not filled, the Linc is only full in the lower level, they’re wondering on air what people who got tickets did with them.

    parade was great, fast but awesome! i was on market between 16th and 17th… snared some great (cellphone) pics of the trophy and the phanatic… back at work til my halloween party tonight!!! i’m sam adams and my girlfriend is st. pauli girl… anyone have fun costumes?

    So thrilled MLB gave us who couldn’t be in Philly a chance to see the Parade. Great to see the players enjoy their day and let guys like Flash and KK be part of the celebrations.

    I really am wondering though what’s happened to Adam Eaton, talk about a social piriah… Guessing he’s still in Reading serving up longballs.

    If you’re going to watch sports, you’re going to hear some swearing. Fans have always sworn at their teams, it’s just what you do. My dad is a wonderful man, compassionate, hard working, but he has always cursed up a storm at his Phillies, especially 1964. That September I learned some amazing words and phrases, and I’m a better person for it-hahaha.

    It was awesome being able to see the parade in person, but man am I happy to be home and comfortable now.

    The only cruddy thing was that you only saw half the players, depending on what side of the float you were on. So I was on the Columbus side of Broad and Oregon and saw Werth, Utley, Howard, Kendrick, Jenkins, Moyer, Dobbs.

    But Rollins, Manuel, Hamels, Myers and Lidge were on the eastern side of the floats.

    I was super close to them though. Within 10 feet.

    Nice job Chase. Of all the ways you could have chosen to express yourself you chose to drop an f-bomb. I agree with Anne – a very poor example for young people. (And just because a lot of people curse doesn’t make it right.)

    Sorry, but I have to side with Anne. Swearing in conversation with your friends is one thing, dropping the f-bomb on TV in front of zillions of fans is totally another. It’s rude and unclassy, and as far as thinking kids should know how to cuss before they’re out of diapers, I never heard anyone in my family swear until I was in my mid-teens.

    I work in a machine shop, so believe me I can put it out there, but calling your machine a “m.other.fu.cking c.ock.su.ck.ing piece of sh.it” is not the same as telling your kids or family to “f.uck off” or whatever. There’s a time and place for everything, but Chase chose the wrong time and place.

    Using the fword was inappropriate. I still love the guy, but that was a bad move.

    One of the reasons the stadiums weren’t full is because SEPTA stopped all the southbound Broad Street trains around 1230pm. My dad and I had tickets and weren’t able to get down there. Huge disappointment, especially after Mayor Nutter basically begged everyone to take public transportation. I know we just won a world championship and things are supposed to be different now and I’m supposed to be positive yada yada, but it was such a typical braindead Philly move.

    Regardless, I’m really happy for Charlie and the gang, and Chase totally made my day (after I finally got home to a television to watch).

    Ya know, there’s alot worse things one can do than swear on tv. Chase and his wife are devoted to helping homeless and abused animals, something I admire him for as much as his play on the field. There’s plenty of people out there who go to church every Sunday but don’t treat their fellow humans or animals with compassion, much more important than thumping a Bible, imo.

    Honest to God, people get way too uptight over curse words, which in reality are extremely harmless.

    Utley was on pure emotion and adrenaline (and maybe some alcohol too). Guess what, I said the same thing on Wednesday night repeatidly and I’ll bet a lot of money that over 75% of the people here said or thought the same thing.

    Disappointing parade for such a great victory.
    1. Players were so mixed in with family and other officials they were hard to make out clearly.
    2 You could only see half of them as they formed a circle and faced out only on one side. Would it have been too much to have them form a single file line and wave both ways at the crowd?
    3. No other distinctively Philly ways to regale them and celebrate them. Why not invite one of the great marching bands to play? Why not have the mummers represented?
    4 The parade was simply police cars, some horses, followed by a few tour buses loaded with all kinds of unknown people with players mixed in, of which the most you could see was half.
    5. SEPTA is incompetent, too many examples to cite, and yes, I cut them a break because of record crowds. It’s not the employees fault, it’s someone higher up who should strategize these things. I will drive from now on.

    The World Phu*in& Champion comment was a riot. Luckily there weren’t too many kids there since it was Halloween. The thing that impressed me about Utley’s speech was that he showed some fire and leadership by turning to his teamates, looking at them all and saying it was all of them that won it.

    He was making a great point by poking a bit of fun at their rival. The Mets picked up ONE great player. In the end, it didn’t make a difference. The better TEAM won. He also added more fuel to the rivalry and will get in their heads even more.

    I hope the skum bags who got tickets just to sell them are happy. The stadium was not filled because of the low life people who got tickets just to sell. The phillies only mistake was giving people the tickets for free next time charge and give it to charity so the low life rotten skum won’t get them if they have to pay.I hate there guts because I wanted to be in that stadium. The parade today blew away the one in 1980 bat burrell wasn’t distance himself from the team like the worst baseball writer in this city said paul Hagen.

    mikemike, I think Septa’s complete shutdown of the Broad Street line from Vine Street south had something to do with it. So many people wanted to see both the parade and the festivities and tried to do both and got stuck on Broad Street.

    I was on broad and oregon and most of the people were in town and were walking down to the stadium. I never got to see rollins or utley but how about the people when charlie’s float was at broad and oregon, it was unbelievable.

    This was my first parade, as I’m 24 years old. To me, this parade seemed pretty freakin’ insane. I wonder how it’d be topped.

    The Phils are Number 1 in my heart. If the Eagles were to win the Superbowl now, I’d watch at home.

    I think the Eagles parade certainly would have been bigger if it “broke the curse.” Now that Philly has a champion, I think to some people the parade becomes less of a big deal. Don’t get me wrong, an Eagles parade would be a huge deal and probably still be bigger than the Phillies’, but this parade was the release of so many years of losing, Now that that big story line is no longer applicable, it might take away from any near future parades.

    Jimmy Rollins deserves to poke fun at the Mets….Face it;My Amazins deserve to be where they are as the Phillies deserve to be where they are….The Phils are the champs and the Amazins arent.We all know there is no I in team.I liked the Santana deal,but it wasn’t Santana who killed the Mets,it was a team effort.The greatest part of baseball has started….the Hot stove league.Phils better stop the partying now because you know everyone,and I mean everyone (Esp in the NL East) is going to want to gun down the champs in 2009

    Miner, Mets fans have been throwing a hissy fit at Metsblog all day over that.

    Rollins made a great point though. Look at all the sexy moves other teams made in the offseason or midseason. The Mets got Santana. The Angels got Texiera. Cubs with Harden. Brewers with Sabathia.

    The Phils made moves to complete the rest of the team. They weren’t blockbuster moves and it became fodder for the media to take jabs saying how the Phillies have no pitching beyond Cole Hamels. So Jamie Moyer winning 16 games was nothing? Myers have a career year post All Star Break.

    And the Phillies won the World Series based off of their pitching. They went 11-3 in the postseason. That’s an amazing record.

    Blockbuster moves don’t win championships. The Spankees have been a prime example and learning the hard way the past 8 years.

    Man oh man was today one of the best days I’ve ever had. Walking from Broad & Spruce to South St. for a 6 pack and then walking to CBP and back to go to work never felt so good. I’m tired as shit right now lol.

    Drinking in front of the police in broad day in public while not being in Vegas was great also lol…

    The Santana deal for the mets was great for them. What I believe hurt them was the little deals they made getting a lot of older hurt players like Castillo,Alou,and others, we won with starters who gave you six or seven innings then a shut down bullpen,a lot of starters if you notice the second time around in a game start to get hit, we at that point are in the fourth or fifth inning .that]s when we hope he can get to the sixth inning and then it’s Durbin, Romero,Madson, LIDGE LIGHTS OUT. you need a top starter but a lot of teams can’t afford two or three Santana ,so you need shut down guys most of the time it’s give me your best for one inning. The guaranteed contracts in the case of pitchers is a killer they get hurt too much, Gordon, martinez, wood , harden, there are so many example, look at us we had 14 million dollars in two pitchers who gave us nothing Gordon Eaton .

     The fact Jimmy pokes fun at the Mets at a Victory parade is bush league. I know its been a long time for a championship but come on, we need to act like champions not like a bunch of brats who don’t kknow how to deal with winning. Like MikeMike says, it’s not like they shouldn’t have made the Santana deal, the guy is that good, it was the smaller deals that killed them. We should just act like champions of the league, not just champions over the Mets.

     Who care’s because everyday I from now to April I get to do my best Red Sox fan impersonation “na na screw you New York, we’re the Champions” On a serious note we should all embrace this championship in a city full of tension between the cops and citizens, the racial tensions, economic strains and all the violence we all came together in unity to become one color (red) high fiving each other all the way down Broad street. This was truly a special moment for everybody I can’t believe I walked from 15th and Market st all the way to CBP, I think walking with a crowed in the hundreds of thousands made it a lot easier. I had the best angle at city hall standing on a no right turn sign on a pole at 15th and Market. We Win!!!!
     World Phucking Champions!!!!
