Scott Lauber reports the Phillies have released pitcher Adam Eaton.

  1. Chooch's Cooches Says:

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. So what happens if some idiots decide to pick him up?

  2. Griffin Says:

    Worst signing in Phillies history?

  3. Tim Malcolm Says:

Chooch: He goes 13-4 with a 3.62 ERA, probably. That’s just what happens.

  4. Griffin Says:

I guess it’s time for all Phillies fans to retire their Adam Eaton jerseys for good. It’s a sad day when a true hero like this moves on, but it’s the cold reality of baseball. It’s a business and I’m just broken-hearted to see a Phillies legend go.

    Later duche, nice beard.

  5. Brian Says:

Tim my thoughts exactly. He will probably face us and throw 7 shut out innings. I am sure the Mets are happy though, he pretty much owned them.

Oh well, this does prove that the phillies are willing to spend money (8.5) to improve.

  6. NC Jason Says:

Tim if another team picks him up. Do they pay his current contract?

  7. Chutley Says:

Hopefully. Just think that we are still paying for Thome.

  8. NC Jason Says:

But that was part of a trade agreement.

  9. justin Says:

    Today’s a great day

  10. Tim Malcolm Says:

NC Jason: No. Phils are on the hook since it was an outright release.

  11. George Says:

This…is so glorious. I feel like they won the World Series again today.

  12. NC Jason Says:

That blows… But Eaton is gone … so

    YAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

  13. Ed Says:

I was in Texas for a trip and went to the Rangers opening day game the year we signed Eaton (2007). At the time i didn’t know much about him. I was in their store at the stadium and saw an Eaton shirt on sale for $5. I thought that was a great buy and would be fun to have something different to wear to the phillies game when he pitches….

To this day a regret the $5 I spent.

  14. Matthew Says:

Ed, that is the greatest story…. EVER!

  15. Chuck P Says:

Let’s tip our collective Phils caps and wish this loser happy trails…

It sucks that no one was willing to trade him for a bucket of balls or even a case of beer… it sucks that we’re still on the hook and he’s still going to get paid but at least we no longer have to discuss this turd.

  16. NC Jason Says:

Ed that might be the funnest story I have heard in a long time

  17. trini Says:

    goood riddance!

  18. NC Jason Says:

Chuck ~ What type of beer? I think the HIGHEST I would trade would be Reading Beer for Eaton…

  19. Ben Says:

I think Eaton should give half the money he makes this season to a charity or two or three. I mean he is a charity case himself with the money he is stealing from the Phillies. Could a guy be any worse and make any more money? At least the Pavano signing for the Yankees blew up in their face because of injury. Eaton is by far the worst pitcher I have ever seen throw a baseball.

  20. philsphan Says:

The Padres should sign him to a minor league deal and see if he has anything left. They need pitching more than anyone and San Diego was the only place he ever pitched well.

  21. GWFightinsFan Says:

    good riddance

  22. tim mccarver sucks Says:

I dont care how much money it takes to get rid of the batting practice pitcher named eaton but thank goodness he is gone. He is so bad its amazing.

  23. Jeff Says:

My guesses are that he is done completely with Baseball no one would sign him for better than a minor league contract

See ya don’t let the door hit you in the butt on the way out

  24. Phan in TN Says:

I think the remainder of his paychecks should go to Ruiz.

Can’t say I liked him much. Now for Kendrick…

  25. Justin Says:

I don’t care if we had to pay the full contract he wasn’t going to pitch in Philly for the Phils ever again so we were going to end up in some way paying him for the season rather have him no where near this team and pay him then have him wreck one of our minor league teams pitching staff.

  26. Geoff Says:

Well, the Phillies said it this time: “Seya pal!”

  27. Geoff Says:

The Pirates will pick him up and make a big deal about it to their fans.

  28. Amanda Orr Says:

Thank God. Finally.. although I was hoping to see Burrell hit a 450 ft. bomb off him on Sat.

  29. MDefl Says:

I am going Cy Young, uh I mean Adam Eaton. My eyes are burning from crying so hard.

  30. Grrrumpy Miner Says:

Irony has it,Mets pick up Eaton and he figures out how to pitch.Wishful thinking says he helps the Amazins as the #3 starter win the Fall Classic.Mets pay him minimum while the Phils are left holding the bag and paying him the rest.Ironic,Wishful and Amazin huh.One can hope can’t one?

  31. hamels' left hand Says:

Eaton’s the perfect Met…overpaid, underperforming, whining little bitch….he’ll never be a Met, tho…he’s not hispanic enough………

  32. Grrrumpy Miner Says:

    Is David Wright hispanic?

  33. Georgie Says:

    Wright on, Miner!!!!
