   “Adam Eaton became the first Orioles pitcher to throw five innings this spring, though he struggled somewhat in Baltimore’s 10-6 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in Jupiter, Fla.

   Released by Philadelphia last month, Eaton earned the win despite allowing five runs on nine hits and four walks in his third start for the Orioles.

   “I struggled — I didn’t have everything working at the same time, ever,” Eaton said. “At the same time, I still got five innings and 90 pitches. In that regard, it’s mission accomplished, but I still fell an inning short of what I wanted to do.”

   The third inning was Eaton’s worst. Brian Barden and Joe Thurston led off with back-to-back singles, and both scored on Brendan Ryan’s triple. Ryan scored on David Freese’s single to left. ”

   Okay, it sounds like Adam comes up with the same lame excuses he had in Philly whenever he got shelled (which was the norm). The thing I think I found most humorous in this article is the fact he seems so proud to have thrown 90 pitches and completed 5 innings of work.

   Perhaps Adam does not realize that the goal is actually to limit your opponent’s runs and hits, thereby helping your team. It’s not really that complicated. Also, someone should tell him that if the coach leaves you in to just “throw” anyone could do it. I could go 5 innings and throw 90 pitches for the Orioles too, but my line would be ugly. What an idiot.

   @Manny, I’m sure Miss Amanda has some truly atrocious pitchers for us that might even make Adam Eaton look like Nolen Ryan.

   Gavin Floyd — Ace of the White Sox — one more reason to have some patience with Kyle Kendrick. He sure would look great in a Phils’ uniform today. Hindsight is always 20/20.

   gavin floyd would have never become in philly what he became in chicago. he needed a change of scenery. if he hadn’t been traded, he would have never succeeded here. he woulda been working at a wawa instead of an ace.

   Also, let’s not forget that Floyd was seen as much more of a prospect than Kendrick ever was.

   Gavin Floyd is a huge regression candidate and ‘08 was a fluke. Check out his ERA after this season.

   and like Mike says, Floyd was a much, much bigger prospect than Kendrick ever was. Why can’t people see that Kendrick’s ‘07 second half was fluky and that every other season in his career is what we should expect from him?

    I remember watching this guy by the 2nd inning he sweat so much you can tell he was just nervous is like watching the scene out of that movie “the Scout”.
