   How do you score that bunt? It shouldn’t be a hit. An error?

   Hamels walked off without a serious limp, that was a good sign.

   It looks like they scored it a hit, unless Lannon got a hit the other time he was up to bat.

   It was scored a hit. You can’t commit an error if you are injured in the act of making a play. Stinks, Lannan getting a registered hit on that is insult to injury.

   Just watched the videos posted on phillies.com, and it looks like Utley has really found his power stroke.

   Who cares whether it’s a hit or an error on attempted fielding of a bunt? The one and ONLY concern is with Hamels and his injury.

   Can someone please explain to me why Utley and Howard do not at least occasionally “push bunt” to third base to eliminate The Shift? WTF? It makes no sense to me to consistently allow the opposing defense a distinct advantage. During the last game of the season last year against the Nats, Howard clearly did a controlled swing with the intent of tapping the ball down the third base line, and it worked perfectly.

   2 things…
   1. Howard tried that last year when he was hitting .185. He tried to lay a bunt down the third base line and looked mighty silly doing it. By the way, he popped out to the catcher on that play.
   2. Imagine this scenario, Howard tries to bunt an inside pitch and, bam, gets cracked in the hand and goes out 6-8 weeks with a broken hand, ala Utley 2 years ago.
   Do you want to try to keep the infielders honest? Sure. But Howard bunting is the same dumb argument made time and time again. Face it, the shift blows and is a cheap way to play the game. All Howard has to do to beat the shift is put the ball in the opposite field consistently and teams will stop shifting him.

    Could not see clearly what happened as we were in sec 237 (only 1 visit from the beer vendor!) but my buddies wife called with the update. He was looking very Cole, velocity was up again, to 92mph.
    Slaughter, that is what the Nats ran into – right now, they are one terrible team that will win less games than they did last year – Acta will have a short future there.
    So sweet is the diversity of our offense. Howard, Rollins were not needed as there are just too many weapons with a healthy Chase and Raul – this is a gas to watch, not to leave out the super bonus of a Pedro Feliz great start and we have a winning record in April, again. How exciting will this be when the pitching staff settles in (it will, definitely will settle in)?
    Looking forward to the Muts coming in, regardless of tonights outcome. In Florid with 2 dramatic wins for a sweep, coming home and thrashing the team they need to thrash.

    Cole will be fine and raring to go for his next start. They have a day off, which means there will be 6 days till his next start. he also stated that it does not hurt him that much and it’s not sore in areas that are cause for concern. There is also no structrual damage and little swelling. He came out of the game in order to prevent further injury. he prob could have pitched some more, but I doubt he wanted to risk delaying his next start. Cole is already mad enough at himself for not preparing properly for the season during the off-season and he is on a mission to do right by his team. He will start against the Cards and hopefully shut “poo-hole” down!
