    Welcome back Juan Carlos!

  2. Kennedy Says:

    Free at Last
    Free at Last
    Thank God Almighty
    Free at Last

  3. Miles Says:

I think we will almost definitely see him tonight unless the situation doesn’t call for it. Charlie is gonna want to get him out there and get his feet wet.

  4. pb Says:

I’d be a little hesitant to throw him into a 1 or 2 run game for his first time back. JC has always been some what effictively wild.

  5. Havoc Says:

    Hallelujiah!

  6. Travis Says:

Since Escalona was sent down and Manuel telling his bullpen plans yesterday to Philly.com which didn’t include Jack Tascher, does he become a trade bait, or does he stay with the Phillies or is he sent down to minors. Also Minor league News, Kyle Drabek makes his Double A debut at home tonight vs Akron. Class A Lakewood is in first place in their division. Class A+ Clearwater is second in its division. Double A Reading is third in it’s division. Triple A Leigh Valley is second last in its divison but with a better record than last year.

  7. Ed 2 Says:

I feel bad for all the husbands of Philadelphia who now have to worry about Juan Carlos again

  8. shag beta sigma delta Says:

Is it just me or do the Phightins’ need to eventually get another right hand bat on the bench. I think eventually once JC gets comfortable again and starts pitching like last year Taschner is gone and you bring up another right handed bat. Also can any one tell me what a LOOPY pitcher is, I think I get the Left handed Only but I am way confused, I am sorry for my ignorance thank you

  9. shag beta sigma delta Says:

One more thing Have not heard from the Muts fans recently, how is that great bull pen doing, I hear that Putz is pitching awesome in 7th 8th inning relief. Ha HA HA. I get such a kick out of myself.

  10. Keith Says:

yea, what right handed bat can we add? could we trade Taschner to get one?

    JC has been freed!

  11. Griffin Says:

A LOOGY is a Left-handed One Out GuY

  12. shag beta sigma delta Says:

That I do not know, I was hoping for some help there since they don’t like bringing up prospects to sit the bench and get 1 at bat every 3rd day. I thought maybe Mayberry, and let him play a few games in right once in a while and see what he can do. But it doesn’t seem like that is a plan the front office has, I don’t think you can get anything just for Taschner, Any help on the LOOPY relief pitcher thing would be nice

  13. shag beta sigma delta Says:

thank Griffin, I kinda got the idea is a one out but I could not put the letters together to get what it stood for, I owe you a beer next time I am in Philly.

  14. jonny b Says:

    ahhhhhhhhhhhh JC is back!!!!!!!

  15. Bob Myers Says:

And he should have never been suspended in the first place. Unlike Manny, J.C. is innocent of trying to hide illegal substances, and rather did everything he could to ensure he wasn’t taking something that was banned.

I hope he wins the lawsuit against the supplement company.

  16. Miles Says:

Yeah I still am not sure how to feel about the suspension Bob. Probably the most glaring thing that didn’t line up was when JC presented his container at the trial and it didn’t have a “this could lead to a positive test” warning but the one that the MLB brought to the trial did have the warning. I still don’t understand that. Anyway….

I’m just glad he is back and he will hopefully provide more depth and stability, as well as take some of the load off the recently overused MadDog.

  17. Keith Says:

well how about we trade Taschner and Cairo? ;)

  18. Griffin Says:

    No prob, Shag.

On a side note, the Mets and Pirates game is rained out tonight and they are NOT playing a double-header tomorrow. So the Mets can now pitch Johan against the Phillies on Tuesday night.

  19. Sean Says:

    Cairo is a joke

  20. 4daysrest.com Says:

I’d like to see Romero get himself into the middle of the action tonight. Get him right back into tight-game form by bringing him in during the 7th in a close game. Don’t give me any of this “work him into it gradually because he might be rusty” shit. He’s a professional pitcher and he’s had plenty of rehab assignments in the last few weeks. He is ready.

  21. rjb360 Says:

Tom Glavine was released today by the Braves…

  22. Griffin Says:

Yeah, I saw that about Glavine. He was due a $1 million bonus if he made the roster, so they decided that he wasn’t worth it.
I wouldn’t touch him with a ten foot pole.

  23. mike Says:

    I would

  24. Mazinman Says:

With Lidge pitching better and J.C. finally back our bullpen is finally at full strength. Welcome back JC.

  25. cxl72 Says:

Loved the reference to the Who. I’m free is one helluva song. Thanks for the note on the Mets rainout and Johan.

  26. pb Says:

The Braves have acquired All-Star outfielder Nate McLouth from the Pirates in exchange for three highly regarded Minor League prospects
right-handed pitcher Charlie Morton, left-handed pitcher Jeff Locke and outfielder Gorkys Hernandez

  27. Keith Says:

    fun for the Braves

  28. rjb360 Says:

Wasn’t Peavy supposed to comment on who he would sign with last night? Did anything ever come of that?

  29. tk Says:

wooo JC!! so glad hes back!!…now lets get rid of that guy named taschner

  30. Griffin Says:

That McLouth trade is interesting. I’m not a huge McLouth fan, his defense is vastly overrated, but the Braves didn’t give up a lot here.

I just read that Tommy Hanson got called up and is starting for the Braves on Saturday.

  31. MP Says:

JC’s return couples nicely with Putz now being reported as ineffective in 8th inning relief. Great day my friends!

  32. Geoff Says:

Glavine released, McClouth in fom the PIrates (I like him as a hitter) for Starting PItchers Jeff Locke and Charlie Morton and CF Gorkys Hernandez.

This is a good trade for both sides. Andrew Mckuteon will come up to join the Pirates now and hernandez is a plus prospect.

  33. Geoff Says:

I thought McClouth was signed for a few years…I guess the Bucs like McKuteon better. They really need stability in that organization. They have to find a group of young players they like and stick with them for 5-7 years like the Phillies did. I think they are doing that, but I assumed McClouth was part of that…guess not.

  34. BrianD Says:

The Braves will be in the race, likely being the team breathing down the Phils’ necks. If McClouth hits for Atl it will ease things up for Francouer. Chipper stays healthy (long shot). They already have the best pitching in the NL East and just may have gotten that steady bat they were desperate for. This next 4+ months is gonna be a blast.

  35. Jamie Says:

they should have built around McClouth. there’s a reason the Pirates are always under .500…I think they could have gotten more for McClouth than what they got.

  36. Geoff Says:

Theyre building around pitching and Ryan Doumit. Freddy Sanchez and Jack Wilson and probably even Adam LaRoche will be traded too. Theyll get some good prospects for Sanchez, maybe a young power bat. Then theyll draft ad sign Aaron Crow.

They appear to be building around Maholm, Capps, McCutchen, Pedro Alvarez, and Doumit. They may even move Ian Snell if anyone wants him

They have Jose Tabata, MCCutchen, & now Gorkys Hernandez to be their new OF of the future..

still, I thought they should have kept McClouth. The mistake they make is the same mistake the Phillies made until they stopped doing it…they rebuild too much. The Phillies did that until they found the right group of prospects to come up in the system. I guess thats what the Pirates are doing, but they have to decide at some point that this is the group they want to go with.

  37. Griffin Says:

I’m not sure of the Pirates gameplan here. I don’t have a problem rebuilding but I thought McLouth had a reasonable contract for a few years. Trading him at his peak value is smart, but did they really capitalize and get a ton in this trade? I’m not so sure.

  38. Dave Says:
