Just released in May of this year, this American Pale Wheat Ale is perfect for yet another BBQ to wrap up the weekend. The citrus scent and hoppy flavor are strong but not overwhelming as you might suspect from a Pale Ale. Grill some lemon-flavored chicken and corn to go with this summer sumpin’ sumpin’. - By Brian

    Go Phillies!

  2. Grrrumpy Miner Says:

LETS GO METS! We all know that Cy Johan has what it takes to pitch lights out baseball and gut through to win,but we all know only too well the Phils are the World Fvcking Champs and aren’t exactyly a slouch team.So to people like Eli and other trolls who parade in here IF Santana is on his game and the Mets win….You have NO REASON to be proud or to celebrate or throw it down anyones throat.Bottom line the Amazins (Injuries or not) did NOT get the job done.

  3. Grrrumpy Miner Says:

    Its all about the FUNDAMENTALS

  4. Hotstove Says:

    Go phillies get the sweep.

  5. Evan Says:

Joey B has had a few very nice starts lately, a good effort from him combined with the Mets complete lack of offense recently can lead to some success against Johan.

Maybe Lidge gets another chance to earn a save, I missed his last effort, how did he look?

  6. M.P. aka A.J. #54 Says:

Evan – he looked great. Back to the old Lidge

  7. Tracey Says:

    Three up, three down!

  8. Tracey Says:

OH BABY!!! LEADOFF HOME RUN BY JROLL!!!

  9. Miles Says:

    WOOOOOOOOOOO! JIMMY BABY!

  10. Tracey Says:

    Kiss that slump goodbye.

  11. Evan Says:

1-2-3, Blanton hit his spots pretty well. J-Roll was a leadoff HR to answer. Nice start.

  12. Mazinman Says:

    I’ve missed you Jimmy!

  13. Grrrumpy Miner Says:

Jesus H Christ! ALREADY? Watch J-Roll fall off the face of the earth Tuesday.

  14. phillsmorephills Says:

Grump Miner, You have no balls

  15. Ed R. Says:

Blanton can look so good sometimes and other times he can look lost. Hopefully today is one of those times where he looks like a solid 1-2 starter.

  16. Jeff Says:

Miner leave this room. You dont belong here. Enjoy the Muts who have not won since 86. You guys have such a scary manager.

  17. Tracey Says:

    4-5-6!

  18. Ed R. Says:

Hey now, let miner be, he is one of the few trolls who doesn’t try and start stuff. He is a legit guy.

  19. Miles Says:

Jeff we already have the series win wrapped up and a lead in this game, so if the Mets fans want to dare to lurk around here, that’s fine with me.

Sarge dropping that rib was hilarious, btw.

  20. Grrrumpy Miner Says:

PhilsMorePhils…You are VERY Tough talking behind a computer Jackoff pre school bedwetter. As for Jeff,I am VERY well respected in here by a LOT of Phils fans in this room.First off,I call it like it is and I do criticise NOT only the Phils but also Criticize the Amazins as well. And last I checked Jeff….YOU don’t have a say who comes in here and who isn’t allowed in here.I have no bitterness on the Phils winning their World Series,I have congratulated youse guys for being the better team…I sleep well at night thank you very much.1986 for the Amazins, maybe a bit LUCKY frlm the GAme 6 but it was also a MAGICAL year.So Jeff,If you open you’r mind before you open your MOUTH….maybe you’d have a better grip on things. As for PhilsMorePhils,I have a flashlight for you junior in case you are FWAID of the dark.NOW On with the show.

  21. Grrrumpy Miner Says:

Ed….I wouldn’t consider myself a “Troll”,leave it to people like Eli to get that title! lol

  22. phillsmorephills Says:

Yea, Minor doesn’t try and start stuff. He tries too hard to not start stuff. He tries too hard to be liked. Hense, why he has no balls. Im down for him posting though, just he does not really bring anything new to the table. He just always says the Mets are gonna win then goes on and on about how the Phillies can win too.

  23. Tracey Says:

On TV, they just told the story about that missed foul ball last night, but I missed it. Did anybody else catch it?

  24. Tracey Says:

Trolls are people who make trouble to get attention. I don’t think that’s Grumpy’s game.

  25. Tracey Says:

    Oh, wow, BEAUTIFUL out!!!

  26. Evan Says:

Wow Howard, beautiful. No longer a defensive liability he’s actually an asset!

  27. Tracey Says:

That is just *NOT* the same Ryan Howard we saw on first base last year, and it’s a very refreshing change!

  28. phillsmorephills Says:

And Grumpier Minor, that is really funny. That was a big boy post. Wow, except it does not affect me at all because of several things.

1),you are a troll. You are a Met fan on a Philly blog, regardless of what you actually post.

    2) My Wife is sexy as hell, More Sexy then yours

    3) I have an amazing job and has actually played baseball in my life.

    4) I make more money then you.

    5) If I knew you in person I would def be able to f*&$ you up.

In short, Im betting my life is better then yours is.

  29. Miles Says:

great play by the big poppa, im happy he’s an all star

  30. Grrrumpy Miner Says:

I couldn’t give a rats ass of being liked or not liked….Respected Junior I have TONS of that in here…the PROOF is in the pudding.I don’t need to try too hard for I am myself in here, not the cartoon character you arein here.I can come in here and use phrases like (Insert Team Here) SUCKS or came in here and say Mets can do no wrong with rose colored glasses on,but I am better than that.I am not afraid to criticize and speak my mind whether it comes to the Phils,Mets,Royals,Brewers,ETC.”I am the real article,What you see is what you get” John Candy-Planes,Trains and Automobiles.

  31. Mazinman Says:

According to Phils Radio Howard, Utley, and Ibanez are in the All Star Game. Victorino will be in the final vote list.

  32. Ed R. Says:

Phils just curious how can you compare things like whose wife is sexier, who makes more and how you would be able to f*ck up minor when you yourself said “If I knew you in person” ergo, you don’t know shit about minor so leave it at that. If you want to post here then be our guests but don’t attack people who did nothing wrong besides being a Mets fan.

  33. Jeff Says:

Shut up Miner. I dont go poking around in a Mets room. Why would I? Stay with your kind. A team that over pays and has no CLASS.

  34. Grrrumpy Miner Says:

Like I said B4…you are real tough and glorify yourself very well behind a computer.Glad we don’t know each other, for I don’t associate myself with a jerk-off like you.I have everything I want in this world,Family, great wife, friends, respect and a life.So lets try this again…If you have nothing nice to say Junior than by all means…..SHADDAP tool. Now on with REAL baseball talk.My GOD I can’t believe I’m lowering myself to this effin tool.

  35. phillsmorephills Says:

your still a poor Met fan, and dont have a backbone or balls. I will be back later, so if want to post something ill answer it later, I gotta go do something with my life not THINK I have respect/friends on here.ha

  36. Miles Says:

VOTE FOR SHANE campaign must begin now!

  37. Jeff Says:

We can meet Miner. any place. No problem

  38. Tracey Says:

Am I the only one watching this game, or are we all too busy trolling each other to pay attention?

  39. Grrrumpy Miner Says:

I want no part of the MetsBlog because Most of them are idiots and have a very good and logical conversation in here with the Phils fans.HOWEVER I get a few Jack-Offs like you PhilsNoBalls who try to rain on my parade,Nice try but no dice PAL,You failed and failed MISERABLY End of conversation .

  40. phillsmorephills Says:

Ed, exactly I did not say anything personal about him until he decided it was a good idea to think I am a “junior” and am afraid of the dark. I was just giving him a taste of his own medicine. As far as the beating him up part, he said “PhilsMorePhils…You are VERY Tough talking behind a computer Jackoff pre school bedwetter” to open the personal business. He also said he does not need respect ,but in 3 different post he has brought up his “Respect” on this site.

  41. Grrrumpy Miner Says:

Jeff…WE? 2 on 1? JEEZ! Talk about not having balls! lol

  42. Tracey Says:

Definitely too busy trolling. Sheesh. Ryan Howard makes a beautiful one-man DP and nobody notices.

  43. DJ Says:

@ Tracey- Im watching! and ignoring both sides cus the whole argument is childish

  44. DJ Says:

    Nice DP!

  45. Evan Says:

Same nice DP the Mets had off Howard for the Phils. That was fortune.

You know what I love? Watching Utley bat.

  46. Tracey Says:

Ah, nice to know I’m not alone here.

  47. Tracey Says:

hehehe. What’s the deal with all the thrown food tonight?

  48. Phan in TN Says:

crossing my fingers and rubbing my Larry Bowa bobble head doll…

  49. Fran Says:

    its their bday

  50. Grrrumpy Miner Says:

I actually did open myself up into doing something I don’t normally do and thats argue with an idiot. I lowered myself to his/her level yet I have bigger fish to fry in the world.OH WELL off to Staten Island for another BBQ this 4th of July weekend.

  51. DJ Says:

3 Allstars so far and hope Vic makes it cus he has been playing really good

  52. Tracey Says:

Ah… I found the story about that flubbed foul last night: as Wright was getting close to the wall, Cora said something like, “You’ve got room” (ie, you’re not going to hit the wall). But Wright thought he said something like, “I’ve got it,” and backed off.

  53. Tracey Says:

    See the foul story here:
    http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/2009/07/04/2009-07-04_phillies_grill_mets_41_at_citizens.html

  54. Tracey Says:

Birthday, that makes sense! Thanks, Fran!

  55. NJ Says:

this everyone gets a player in and the fans decide the starters is nonsense… Hamliton starting for the AL team and Andrew Bailey…?

  56. Tracey Says:

@NJ: Does it really come as any surprise to you that the ASG is about ratings, not about talent?

  57. Evan Says:

Mayberry needs to work on staying back on the changeup. Santana isn’t exactly easy to beat.

  58. Jeff Says:

We meaning you and I. You piece of trash/

  59. NJ Says:

It doesn’t surprise at, just another year left shaking your head. I can understand Hamilton since the amount of votes a fan can place is idiotic but Bailey’s just plain wrong…

  60. Tracey Says:

Is that supposed to be a giant Tastykake birthday cake?

  61. Evan Says:

Its as if the Mets can score a run without swinging the bat.

  62. Jeff Says:

come on guys. you cant walk a crap player and give up a hit to a crap hitting pitcher.

  63. NJ Says:

Santana hits as bunts well for a pitcher and that was just plain unlucky

  64. Tracey Says:

    Damn, he’s running up Joe’s pitch count…

  65. Evan Says:

    This at bat is insane.

  66. Tracey Says:

That was the tenth pitch of this AB.

  67. Tracey Says:

hee hee. One of the Mets fans in the stands on TV said to her husband, “don’t f— up.” (read her lips; wasn’t hard)

  68. Miles Says:

Jeff, Santana is a great bunter and there was nothing you can do on that one. Also, this umps zone is very very small and it’s definitely hurting Blanton.

  69. Tracey Says:

I could say the same to the Phillies. You know that the minute the Mets take the lead, their fair-weather trolls will be here.

  70. Tracey Says:

    YES!!!! WHEW!!!

  71. Evan Says:

    WOW NICE!

  72. Miles Says:

    OH YES! Wow!

  73. Tracey Says:

OK, now the Phils need to get a few insurance runs… that was too close for my comfort.

  74. NJ Says:

    what clutch play!

  75. DJ Says:

Yes way to get out of it Blanton

  76. Joe from NJ Says:

David wright is choker and sucker. Nowonder Mets choke every year :)

  77. Mazinman Says:

Phew! If the Phils win the game today thats the at bat we will talk about.

  78. Tracey Says:

Well, let’s give some credit to that guy heading to 2nd, who guaranteed us a DP by playing that little shoving game with Utley.

Wow, JRoll got a full count? He’s definitely learned some patience.

  79. Miles Says:

That is the biggest load of bulls**t I’ve ever seen

  80. Tracey Says:

(snicker) Oh, Wright, you can’t catch a foul popup to save your life…

  81. Tracey Says:

    YES!!! THANK YOU, CHASE!!!

  82. Mazinman Says:

Woo! What a drive by Utley! 0 – 2? No problem!

  83. DJ Says:

    F#CK Yea Utley!!!

  84. Tracey Says:

… but we need a couple more of those. :D

  85. Joe from NJ Says:

what idiot fans vote a choker – Wright to ALL star game. NL will lose again

  86. Tracey Says:

OK, let’s beef up that lead just a little bit more…

  87. Miles Says:

    Murphy is such a moron

  88. Tracey Says:

I love that cap flag thing. :)

  89. DJ Says:

Blanton in the 8th? he hasn’t been hit hard at all

  90. Miles Says:

    please no walks

  91. Jeff Says:

why not madson then lidge. makes sense…

  92. Geoff Says:

    What was his pitch count?

  93. Evan Says:

    Somewhere around 110.

  94. Geoff Says:

Ok. Romero better get out of this with no harm.

    Very good outing from Blanton.

  95. NJ Says:

Would be nice if Madson didn’t have to come in for a 4th straight day

  96. Geoff Says:

    Damn it Romero. Bum.

  97. Geoff Says:

You know what? get him out of here, bring Park in.

  98. Miles Says:

So charlie brings in Park to face Tatis, mr grand slam against him….i guess mad dog isnt available

  99. Geoff Says:

Very good from Park. Very good.

  100. Mazinman Says:

LOL! L.A. asked for a double play and Tatis delivered right after he had said it!

  101. Miles Says:

Haha and we got another DP after all that….i love how bad the Mets are right now

  102. DJ Says:

    Park is the Man!!!

  103. Mazinman Says:

I gotta give it to Park, he has certainly turned around his season after being sent to the bullpen.

  104. Joe from NJ Says:

no matter what new or old players go to mets system , they all become choke artists :)

  105. DJ Says:

WTF every pitch he has thrown to jimmy has been a ball

  106. Keeg Says:

haha on the gameday pitch by pitch, those two strikes that were called were completely out of the strike zone. this guy sucks.

  107. Tracey Says:

OK, Shane is overdue for a hit.

  108. Tracey Says:

OK Lidge: We need a lights-out performance here. No suspense, please.

  109. DJ Says:

3 in a row come on Lidge

  110. Tracey Says:

    One down, two to go!

  111. Miles Says:

    Ohhhhh yeahhhhhh, one more

  112. Tracey Says:

    Woo hoo! 2K!

  113. DJ Says:

Yes one out left and its a sweep baaby

  114. Tracey Says:

Come on, baby… one more strike… just one more strike … YESS!!!!!

  115. Ed R. Says:

Lidge has looked every bit the Lidge of 2008 over the last two games, boy if he is back even to 90% of what he was last year then the back end of our rotation just got scary again.

Glad to see we could sweep the Mets while they are hurting. Thats what good teams do.

    GO PHILLIES!!!

  116. Mazinman Says:

Yes! Sweep and shut out! Thats 5 strike outs for Lidge against 6 batters. Thats the domination we need in the end!

  117. Miles Says:

YEAAAHHHHHHHHH! SWEEP OF THE MUTTS! Highlight of the season for me folks…..Blanton for the Ashburn!

  118. Geoff Says:

Aww man, well it looks like he could be back. Fastball 94-95mph located and commanded well. Slider biting hard. Nice. Big sweep this weekend.

  119. Tracey Says:

    PHILLIES SWEEP THE METS!
    PHILLIES SWEEP THE METS!
    WOO HOO!!!

  120. DJ Says:

    Struck out the side!! WHOAAAA!

  121. joedad Says:

Way to sweep that AAA team. Woot.

  122. Tracey Says:

OK: Marlins won too, so we’re still just one game up in the division. And Atlanta’s about to lose, so for now it’s a two-team race.

  123. Griffin Says:

    Sweep!!

  124. DJ Says:

    Where is ELI???

  125. NJ Says:

Great series! Say what you will about the Mets personnel but the Phils were down to business all weekend. Hats of to J-Roll and Lidge for outstanding performances as well as the starting pitchers.

  126. Mike N Says:

    LIGHTS OUT LIDGE!!!!!

  127. Keeg Says:

i haven’t seen lidge look that good since game 5.

he was literally controlling the hitters. they were catering to him. making them look at fastballs and then almost every single slider was swung at and missed.

his pitch combo is deadly again. he’s deadly again, we’re deadly again!

  128. DJ Says:

Blanton and Jimmy should get the Ashburn! That lead off homerun set the whole tone of the game

  129. Mazinman Says:

Mets are bad right now, thats true, but when you only allow 2 runs in a 3 game series thats a very good performance. Its definately something for our pitching to build on.

  130. DJ Says:

I can’t wait for Ibanez to get back, Blanton and Happ have been pitching really good and Moyer will have his rough times but 1 out of 3 is always a great outing from him and now you add Lidge with his stuff back and no pain, We will definitely be defending our trophy

  131. The Little Guy Says:

    Mazinman- 3 runs

  132. NJ Says:

There’s no doubt Lidge’s knee was the reason for his struggles this year, he wasn’t allowed sufficient time to get his body right and in-sync. Given the right time to rehab there’s no doubt how good his stuff is.

  133. Mazinman Says:

This is a crazy season in the division so far. Braves sweep us and now are about to lose 2 of 3 to the Nats. We get swepted in the road, where we have been good, and then sweep at home, where we have sucked. Not only that but the Marlins are in second only one game behind us.

Those are the kinds of facts that cause your brain to melt down if you think about them too much.

  134. The Little Guy Says:

The Phils are 3 losses ahead of the Marlins, 4 ahead of the Braves, and 5 losses ahead of the Mets. Thats huge, it’s easy to make up wins, hard to make up those losses.

As Happy Gilmore once said, “somebody learned how to playyyy.”

I feek as if thats what the whole team said after this series.

  135. Joe from NJ Says:

I told you so, phillies hitters and pitchers was alll in slump early this week and they will fire up when they play against mets

  136. Tracey Says:

JRoll gets the Ashburn. Makes sense: His leadoff HR off the Mets’ ace set the tone for the entire game.

  137. Mazinman Says:

Personally, I would have given it to Blanton but I have no problems with JRoll getting it instead.

*Shakes fist at the Nats’ bullpen.*

  138. Joe from NJ Says:

Nothing to be proud with – swept triple A team n a bunch chokers

  139. Joe Benigno Says:

    Oh the pain!

  140. The Dipsy Says:

Good win today. Was very heartened by the starting pitching all weekend. Lest we not forget though that the Mets lineup is terrible. Lidge looks good. JRo looks good. I think the Phils might be about to embark on a hot streak.

    The Dipsy

  141. phils_ftw Says:

I think this Mets team has proved they can score runs even with the AAA lineup based on what they’ve done vs other teams score wise. Our pitchers just shut em down in beautiful fashion.

  142. M.P. aka A.J. #54 Says:

Nice game… Where are the Mets fans who’d say they’d sweep?

  143. Keeg Says:

what’s funny is i called a ten game win streak going into the all star break with the win yesterday, and today’s win kinda convinced me even more that it can happen.

can we at least get over .500 at the Bank before the ASG? that would be nice too.

  144. Keeg Says:

of course i’ve just realized we’d need to win the rest of the homestand to do so.

    so lets do it!

  145. M.P. aka A.J. #54 Says:

Keeg – as dumb as this is going to sound, if thy do not take the Pirates seriously they can beat you. I have no doubt we could sweep the Reds and Pirates, but we have to watch Joey Votto. That kid is a great kid, and really is a good player. He had some issues, that were beyond his control, but doesn’t let it affect his game. Keep him in check and we’ll be OK.

  146. M.P. aka A.J. #54 Says:

I was unclear, I said watch the Pirates and I meant to add and Joey Votto of the REDS is a tough character. I know Votto is a Red not a Pirate.

  147. mikemike Says:

N.o you don’t. you are the worst. You make the little guy seem smart.

  148. M.P. aka A.J. #54 Says:

mikemike, go back to your Mets site, as I still want to know where you get this info that you posted:

    July 4th, 2009 at 8:39 am
I was thinking as sellers we should wait to get more for lidge, madson, ibanez, and werth, if we sell at the deadline we can get a lot more. A lot of phillies fans were selling there tickets last night, so I am not the only one who knows we are out of it and now must build for the future.

  149. M.P. aka A.J. #54 Says:

And FYI – the Little Guy IS a smart youngin’
