Carpenter got shelled against the Nationals, or did we all forget that?
Carrasco, has pitched better, but really that's about the nicest thing you can say about his season so far.

Drabek should not be a possibility. Too Young, too soon.
Kendrick was practically booed out of PA during the Red Sox series.

Savery walks too many batters. And for someone who has struggled mightily with his command, it be a horrible move to double jump him.

Lopez is no going to be our savior. At best he provides some innings for a team hurting right now. With our current options, why not go with the hottest arm on his regular day of rest. IF he implodes he's out of the organization.

Plus we don't know whether the other pitchers are being considered in trades. I mean, one has to wonder how long they leave Taylor in AA or if he just never makes it to Leigh because of a trade.

I wonder what it would take to pry Meche away. He didn't look bad yesterday, but he wasn't exactly great.

I think the lack of experience in the GM spot is really starting to show. Gillick had a good idea of the minors, and who to move and who to bring up. I think Ruben has been hesitant and does not have the ability to make a major trade for a high quality starter or the experience to get one started. Good GM's solve problems, not stand still buying time.

Bringing up Lopez is another stand still moment for this pitching staff. He is at no point an answer to any of the Phillies Pitching problems at the major League level.

This is a perfect moment to bring up one of the young future arms to see if we have an answer within the system. Carrasco, Savery, Drabek are all possibilities where Drabek would be the long shot dince he is recovering from TJ surgery. Even Carpenter is a better option.

Lopez is pitching well and is having a nice season in LV but he is not an answer. He is a bandaid for a gun shot wound.

This organization is on the cusp of wasting one of the best hitting lineups in the history of the organization.

I just so frustrated with the decisions made by upper management, and my trust in them is fading daily.

This is dumb, Savery's on fire right now, Kendrick deserves it more, Carrasco's got the highest ceiling, Carpenter's having the best season. Lopez's best season was back in 2002. All 4 of the guys I named had better be getting shipped for Halladay, or this is dumb.

Any "Triple A team" that have a David Wright (NL's BA leader) in its' lineup will be dangerous. ;-)

Plus --I hope this comment doesn't come back and bite us--: Lopez will still get to start against a Triple A team on Friday.

I don’t think this is about the Phillies not having faith in Carrasco… it’s just that they probably want him to stick in the rotation for good once he makes his debut. Also, imagine if he gets shelled on Friday, he’d lose a lot of trade value and, possibly, no longer be officially considered as our top pitching prospect.

After seeing his stats in his last 3 games, it makes sense to see him up here. 3-0 with 3ER in 21 innings. 15 SO, 2 walks. They are hoping he turned the corner and is back from surgery.

It was actually pretty easy to see this coming and people were definitely talking about it as a possibility. Once they moved Happ up to Thursday you had to figure that Carrasco was out being that he starts tonight at LV. Lopez was already lined up with the Friday start. Also, they traded for Mazone so they will have a starter in LV once they lose Lopez. He has no options left so if and when the Phils don't need him he will likely get picked up by another team.

Yahoo Sports News item:

"Lopez, 33, was a two-time 15-game winner with the Orioles, but he has neither the blazing fastball that he once did nor the flexible contract that would allow him to be returned to the minors without first clearing waivers."

Smokey you don't have to consider yourself a pessimist. Lopez is not a long term answer. I guarantee the Phils have him slated for 2 starts, which gets you to the break. After that they will hopefully have another arm via trade, and we won't be worrying about it. I miss Brett, even the homer happy Brett.
