Taschner Designated for Assignment

Posted by Amanda Orr, Fri, July 03, 2009 08:48 PM

Jack Taschner was designated for assignment to make room for Rodrigo Lopez, who had his contract purchased today.  Also, Brett Myers was moved from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

  2. PGD Says:

just get it over with and designate him to the waiver wire

  3. joedad Says:

Was pulling for him after seeing him hold on The Pen ans watching his new baby throw up on him and his couch. Seemed liked a cool guy. Just wasnt a very good pitcher.

We do not need Wang, let the Rangers take him. We need Greike(sp?) or Haren.

Regarding Taschner, I would LOVE the Nationals to get him. I think he would fit in well there because they are really hurting for pitching and he could learn with the others. He also won’t have the pressure…

Just my opinion. I liked him on the Pen and I hope he gets a contract and plays ball. I also hope he does well.

  5. Greg V. Says:

I can see Amaro now! “This is our new pitcher, Wang! No offense!”

  6. Geoff Says:

Taschner is a classy professional. The guy just had a kid the day before he got traded here and they just got settled and now he may get moved again. I hope he lands on a team like the Pirates or Nats and exceeds with more playing time.

  7. Geoff Says:

If Lopez pitches like this again then they can buy a little more time.

  8. M.P. aka A.J. #54 Says:

Geoff – Pirates are another good team. I would even be happy if the Iron Pigs signed him and he stayed in our system. I think he is the type who will do fine, it is just not his time yet.

  9. Geoff Says:

Yeah itd be nice to stash an experienced guy like that in AAA juuuuust n case they need another arm down the stretch. I mean last year they gave Les Walrond and that guy with the 52mph curve significant time for a stretch last year…

  10. Geoff Says:

    Georgie…you still there?

  11. mets fan Says:

Geoff, what happened to Walrond? Is he still in AAA or gone, gone?

  12. Geoff Says:

    Hes pitching in Japan

  13. Geoff Says:

RJ swindle was the other guy..hes with Milwaukee now

  14. Georgie Says:

Geoff, still here, check your e-mail later.

  15. Geoff Says:

    Ok I will…

  16. Papa Thompson Says:

I thought he might be successful in that “Dan Plesac, pitch to ONE lefty and leave” role. Not here, I guess. As bad as our bullpen has been, it’s pretty amazing to think their cutting loose any relievers.
