The SI Jinx?

Is it the SI jinx?  With Cole Hamels’ struggles, you have to wonder what is wrong with the NLCS and World Series MVP.  As I pointed out in last night’s recap, it is his location.  He is missing his spots and leaving pitches out over the plate.  “Come on Cole, keep poundin’ the corner!”

    Hmmmmmmm, very interesting!!!

  2. Justin Evans Says:

I think it mostly has to do with the fact that he’s a prima donna who runs his mouth and worries more about money, chiropractors, the Mets, and children from Uganda or wherever than working out in the offseason.

    i agre with justin.

  4. Kevin from Macho Row Says:

And as evidenced by my recent retrospective series on Macho Row, the SI Cover jinx appears to be nothing new to the Phillies.

  5. Keith E Says:

Jinx! For real? VooDoo has nothing to do with it. Hamels has gone cold on us. He will snap out of it, but a jinx? HAH!
    GO PHILS!!!

  6. Phan in TN Says:

SI also picked the Mets to go all the way…

i dont think its a jinx, he’s just having a god awful year. i know it sounds silly, but maybe he should do what myers did last year. go to the minors, work out some kinks and come back strong. moyer can take his place while he is gone.

Justin, if you grow up starving in Africa your next life, I wish you the best. Always watch what you say…

He is nowhere near as bad as Myers was last year. He is pitching like a #4 instead of a #1. Myers was as bad as Eaton which is more like a #14.

I still think he will get his stuff together before the end of the year and will be a force in the playoffs.

Jinx? How about lack of preparation both physically and mentally. Hamels has admitted as much, with all of his post season distractions he never spent the time preparing like he is accustomed too.

When he said it at the beginning of the year I figured he would come around at some point towards the middle of the season but it has yet to happen. Can’t say I am surprised. Hamels wears his emotions on his sleeve, for better or for worse, right now its for worse.

I think he is in such a mental funk that he just can’t get over his poor start and that is culminating in a poor season. Hamels needs things to go right otherwise he falls apart at the seems. He is very much the exact opposite of another lefty named J.A Happ.

Hamels can be great, hell, Hamels was great, when we needed him most, this season may be lost for him but rest assured, if he does not get his act together this year you can bet he will spend the entire off season preparing for next year. He can’t fail again, his ego can’t take it.

  11. Cole Hamels Says:

    Who are you?

I just think he needs to focus on his games and give it what he has. He obviously has the talent and ability
