NLDS Gameday: Phillies at Rockies, Game 4
Posted by Pat Gallen, Mon, October 12, 2009 05:07 PM
Philadelphia Phillies (2-1) at Colorado Rockies (1-2)
Cliff Lee, LHP (1-0) vs. Ubaldo Jimenez, RHP (0-1)
Time: 6:07 p.m at Coors Field
Weather: Partly Cloudy, 50
TV: TBS
Twitter: Phillies Nation
Warmer tonight, you say? With today’s 6 p.m. start time, the weather will not play as much of a factor as it did in last night’s 6-5 Phillies victory. The frigid temps seemed to play a small role in J.A. Happ’s sub-par outing, although some will say he was squeezed by home plate umpire Jerry Meals.
Game 4 will have Cliff Lee take the hill against Ubaldo Jimenez, in a mirror image of Game 1. Lee was outstanding, going the distance in that opening win, while allowing just a lone run in the 9th inning. The Phillies will need a similar performance in tonight’s game as the bullpen is somewhat depleted. Charlie Manuel had to use five relievers, including Joe Blanton again, after Happ lasted just three innings. Scott Eyre suffered a leg injury while fielding a grounder and is uncertain for this evening. So all eyes are once again on Lee to bring forth a spectacular outing.
Ubaldo Jimenez was pesky through four innings in Game 1, but ran out of gas in the fifth inning. In that 5-1 victory, every Phillie had a hit, including Lee, and Jimenez was bounced in the sixth after allowing five runs. The Phillies now know the opponent well, and with the bats starting to heat up once again, let’s hope we’re in for some fireworks in this possible closeout game.
Chase Utley finally gave the Phillies some pop, going 3-for-4 with a home run yesterday, er, early this morning). However, Jimmy Rollins is basically MIA at the top of the order. He did have a big ninth inning hit, but has looked lost for the most part at the dish. Look for a J-Roll turnaround.
Tonight’s Lineup: Rollins (SS), Victorino (CF), Utley (2B), Howard (1B), Werth (RF), Ibanez (LF), Feliz (3B), Ruiz (C), Lee (P).
Your Gameday Beer – Coors Original
In the spirit of this chilly, mile-high series, sip on a can of original Coors as you witness the Phillies dominating in Game 4. The “Banquet Beer” as it’s known is 5% ABV and is the oldest of the Coors beers. Buy a six pack and eat some steak and potatoes with it, and be sure to dispose of the cans by stepping on them, just as the Phils will do to the Rockies tonight. – By Pat
GO PHILLIES!

October 12th, 2009 at 5:33 pm
Yea, it’s Lee pitching of course, I’ll change it now….but you never know with Charlie filling out the lineup card….
October 12th, 2009 at 5:57 pm
Alright, LETS WIN THIS!!!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 5:58 pm
I’m rooting for my old teammates and hope to see them in the World Series. I would like to grab that Howard Eskin by his dyed beard and rub his nose in doggie pooh. He is nothing but a big mouthed FOP. I miss my Phillies fans and hope you guys enjoy victory tonight.
October 12th, 2009 at 6:00 pm
alright I’m here, let’s get this going. GO PHILLIES!
October 12th, 2009 at 6:00 pm
Let’s party together tonight. YOu buy the beer and pizza and I’ll leave the tip. Go Phillies. Let’s have all brown cappers unite tonight at McFaddens.
October 12th, 2009 at 6:14 pm
VICTORINO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 6:16 pm
I’m insane for Shane and he trots down home-run lane !!! GO PHILS !!!
October 12th, 2009 at 6:16 pm
Victorino is getting the party started tonite!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 6:17 pm
nice walk Utley.
October 12th, 2009 at 6:18 pm
This guy is crazy.
October 12th, 2009 at 6:19 pm
You know, the ump’s not going to cut this guy any slack if he keeps getting hit with pitches!
October 12th, 2009 at 6:20 pm
got to love how the Phils are just flat out hitting the Rockies
October 12th, 2009 at 6:22 pm
Just noticed the Phils lead all playoff teams in AVG, OBP and OPS through the divisional series
October 12th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
That fat bioetch Howard was OUT…another bad call again…this time Phillies way…Howard only runs fast when the Domino’s guy is at the door……oh well we’re just waiting to see what “jump off a Cliff Lee” does later….
October 12th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
Here we go, the announcers are all over the Rockies balls again…
October 12th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
Another blown call?
October 12th, 2009 at 6:25 pm
just can’t get Gonzalez out . . .
October 12th, 2009 at 6:25 pm
Gonzalez is a beast.
October 12th, 2009 at 6:25 pm
Finally, I get to watch a game from first pitch! Have these announcers sucked this bad the whole time?
Great job by Phils in the first. Only one run, but they made U.J. throw 30 or so pitchers. The hitters look patient and selective and we’ve got Lee on the hill. Go Phils!
October 12th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
damn gonzalez
October 12th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
just like last night. ugh
October 12th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
These play by play guys are so one sided it’s incredible.
Wouldnt worry about Lee, he can get hit early but he’ll settle in
October 12th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
Interesting tag out! Hee hee!
October 12th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
well that was risky.
October 12th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
Jesus
October 12th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
@NJ: I’m listening to the local audio. What am I missing?
October 12th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
This motherf***ing umpire is squeezing Lee…
October 12th, 2009 at 6:31 pm
will we ever a a easy first inning
October 12th, 2009 at 6:32 pm
*have
October 12th, 2009 at 6:32 pm
Huge K, Come on Clifford
October 12th, 2009 at 6:33 pm
Insanely bad play by play guys is what your missing. Lee always tries to pump in the strikes early and the first two Rockies just jumped on him but he doesn’t look any different than game 1 and he hasn’t thrown anywhere near as many pitches as Jiminez.
Decent start so far…
October 12th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
well that’s over.
Ibanez, Feliz, and Ruiz. let’s go!
October 12th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
If these broadcast buffoons say “punches him out” one more time….
October 12th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
Bottom of the first: J Roll! He had a little bit of luck and lot of skill on that throw from Lee on the little grounder. Chooch could have easily had Helton with a good throw there, but I’ll cut him some slack because he’s Chooch and he’s the man. Clutch strikeout pitch with the cut fastball on Tulowitzky. Lee was not sharp but does a great and scrappy job of getting out of it with no runs. Ruben Amaro, thanks for that trade.
I can’t believe these announcers. Did TBS give us the other team’s home announcers for the second NLDS in a row?
October 12th, 2009 at 6:39 pm
The umpires are ridiculous. You would think since its so cold that they would speed this thing up.
October 12th, 2009 at 6:40 pm
alright Ruiz!
October 12th, 2009 at 6:50 pm
1-2-3 inning for Lee.
October 12th, 2009 at 6:51 pm
Bobby – with a man on third and first…it’s a gamble if you throw to second cause a runner like fowler can make it home
October 12th, 2009 at 6:51 pm
Hello Rockies, we’d like to reintroduce you to Cliff Lee. That guy in tonight’s second inning was the guy from Game 1. So-so first inning, vintage Lee inning in second. Hitting his spots, keeping the hitters off balance. Here we go…
How about getting on base, Jimmy!
October 12th, 2009 at 6:52 pm
Rollins, Victorino, Utley. let’s go!
October 12th, 2009 at 6:53 pm
blah blah
October 12th, 2009 at 6:53 pm
I’m liking how Lee is settling in. Shades of game 1.
October 12th, 2009 at 6:54 pm
alright Victorino!
October 12th, 2009 at 6:55 pm
Bobby- sorry did chooch make a throw or didn’t throw…if he threw it was a dumb idea. I was just getting in and getting the play by play from my mom so i assumed they conceded the base
October 12th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
wow, I thought Victorino was gonna be called out.
October 12th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
but he was safe.
October 12th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
why is it going against the rockies ……it was a good call
October 12th, 2009 at 6:58 pm
Are these the same announcers as yesterday? Why the sudden Phillies love fest?
October 12th, 2009 at 6:58 pm
You know, they’re really not making friends with the umpires — throwing pitches at them and debating every call…
October 12th, 2009 at 6:58 pm
OK – That was a little too close for comfort! Go jJayson!
October 12th, 2009 at 6:59 pm
Oh for goodness sake Jim Tracy.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:01 pm
jason keep that head down
October 12th, 2009 at 7:01 pm
@j reed: I think they made the right call on Victorino, but it was definitely close. But you can’t argue every freaking call.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:02 pm
what was he swinging at. they were all balls.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:02 pm
come on Rauuul
October 12th, 2009 at 7:03 pm
Bouncy bouncy…
October 12th, 2009 at 7:04 pm
Jimenez is pitching cricket…
October 12th, 2009 at 7:04 pm
watch that change-up
October 12th, 2009 at 7:05 pm
draw another walk ibanez. you scored a run with it the other night
October 12th, 2009 at 7:06 pm
terrible.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:06 pm
ugh
October 12th, 2009 at 7:06 pm
oof…
October 12th, 2009 at 7:06 pm
well at least jimnenez pitch count is going up.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:07 pm
these announcers are driving me nuts!!!! they must be from Colorado!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:08 pm
lee needs a nice shutdown inning to quiet this crowd down.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:09 pm
Top 3: Damn, we let Jimenez off the hook there. Phils have swung at a lot of bad pitches, but he’s up to 65 pitches through 3 IP, so we will be into that bullpen soon. But we need a big hit, folks. That RISP is starting to drop.
J Reed, YES, Chooch made that throw and he would have had Helton out easily if he makes an accurate throw. But you’re right. Ordinarily, that’s a risky throw by a catcher.
These Rockie fans have no class. They just razzed JWerth after he fouled a ball off his leg and went down in pain. Sheesh.
Finally, J-Roll, please look at some pitches. Jimmy looked at 7-8 pitches first time up. This time. One pitch and weak grounder. Not good, man. Come on. But he is playing great D this series.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:09 pm
can we get Gonzalez out this time?
October 12th, 2009 at 7:10 pm
Ibanez KNEW that change-up was coming.
Same old story in the postseason…bases loaded, less than two outs SUCKS for us, spells DISASTER for us.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:10 pm
I love how the announcers are talking about a momentum shift when Cliff Lee who’s one of the best in the game is settling into cruise control while Jiminez may only last one more inning.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:11 pm
ugh get that Gonzalez out.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:13 pm
someone needs to show gonzolez the dirt in the batter’s box
October 12th, 2009 at 7:13 pm
nice play Utley!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:13 pm
Way to turn the DP!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:14 pm
Thats why Utley is a very good defensive 2nd basemen, his instincts and internal clock are unrivaled.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:14 pm
Feliz, Ruiz, Lee. let’s go!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:14 pm
Chase is playing great lately
October 12th, 2009 at 7:14 pm
Beautiful play by Utley! Yeah, these announcers are total Colorado homers.
BTW, I have to say I loved seeing Al Leiter pick the Phillies to win this game and pop on a Phillies cap in the MLB TV pre-game. Take that, Mets fans!!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:16 pm
well unbaldo has established that he can’t get his breaking stuff over for a strike except for those few first pitch curveballs in the first two innings
October 12th, 2009 at 7:16 pm
ugh another first pitch out
October 12th, 2009 at 7:16 pm
I guess taking a pitch or two is not in the playbook tonight.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:17 pm
TOP 4: Again, Feliz swinging at the first pitch. Come on guys! WIth this pitch count going up, we’ve got to look at some pitches. Dude keeps throwing balls in the dirt. “Rockies” announcer said it was a “perfect” start to the inning.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:17 pm
well this inning sucks.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:19 pm
Amazing how Jiminez gets that strike on a low fastball but it’s called a ball on Lee
October 12th, 2009 at 7:19 pm
ugh 8 pitches
October 12th, 2009 at 7:19 pm
We made that WAY too easy for him. From Werth through Lee, our hitters have stopped doing what they were doing early in the game. Rollins needs to get the offense on track in the 5th.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:21 pm
One pitch AB for Feliz again.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:23 pm
how many pitches is lee at?
October 12th, 2009 at 7:24 pm
Is it me (and Im watching Gamecast b/c im stuck in class) or is Cliff not throwing many first pitch strikes tonight? Could that somehow be by design?
October 12th, 2009 at 7:26 pm
Oh, that was almost bad…
October 12th, 2009 at 7:26 pm
what was werth doing? gymnastics??
October 12th, 2009 at 7:26 pm
Lee: about 60 pitches
October 12th, 2009 at 7:28 pm
nice 1-2-3 inning Lee!
Rollins, Victorino, Utley. let’s go!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:28 pm
Lee ends the inning with 63 pitches
October 12th, 2009 at 7:29 pm
thanks for the info Tracey!
I think Raphael the Ninja Turtle is seated behind home plate.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:29 pm
Yeah, we need a bigger lead if we’re going to end this tonight.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:30 pm
JeffK, I think Lee IS more careful with the location of his first pitches tonigh, especially after the first two batters of this game singled off him. But right now, fellow Phillie fans, Cliff Lee is pitching like Cliff Lee. Nice 1-2-3 inning. Lee has thrown 64 pitches through 4 innings. Not bad, not great. Probably not going to get a CG. Madson and Lidge, we may need you tonight. But I would rather see our team score a bunch of runs . . .
October 12th, 2009 at 7:32 pm
ugh poor Jimmy
October 12th, 2009 at 7:33 pm
C’mon we gotta take Jimenez OUT of the game!!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:34 pm
Agreed Bobby. My concern now is how far can we stretch Lee…and who can pitch in a potential 1-0 ballgame?
October 12th, 2009 at 7:34 pm
jimmy – einstein in the field, elmer fudd at the plate. chase will do something here
October 12th, 2009 at 7:36 pm
another quick inning. Come on offense.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:36 pm
Jimenez pitch count: 87
(or Ubaldez, as LA called him)
October 12th, 2009 at 7:36 pm
Yeah Im a bit worried about how far cliff can go after a complete game last time.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:36 pm
The way Lee’s pitching he could easily go 7+ unless he gets chased which is just as like to happen to Jiminez
October 12th, 2009 at 7:37 pm
Jimenez at 87 pitches
October 12th, 2009 at 7:37 pm
umbaldo is tiring though…l
October 12th, 2009 at 7:39 pm
oops
October 12th, 2009 at 7:39 pm
let’s go phillies! let’s go phillies! let’s go phillies!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:43 pm
i think the adrendline can carry Lee through…
October 12th, 2009 at 7:44 pm
the pitcher got a hit.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:44 pm
what was that?
October 12th, 2009 at 7:44 pm
oh great the pitcher just got a hit.
can we get Gonzalez out this time?
October 12th, 2009 at 7:45 pm
yay we finally got him out!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:46 pm
WHEW!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:46 pm
Cmon lets take Jimenez out of the game… no swinging at first pitches!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:46 pm
Lee at 79 pitches.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:46 pm
That’s 78 pitches for Cliffy. I think we can get a couple more innings out of him.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:47 pm
Howard, Werth, Ibanez. let’s go!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:47 pm
i think we get to unbaldo this inning
October 12th, 2009 at 7:48 pm
I’m not too worried about Lee. He’s thrown 79 through 5, so he could easily go 8. More worried about Jimenez, who is looking better as the game goes on. We need to get to this guy, as in NOW.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:48 pm
Gotta love the green screen.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:49 pm
The ads are FAKE
October 12th, 2009 at 7:49 pm
We Need Runs!!!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:49 pm
stop swinging at garbage
October 12th, 2009 at 7:50 pm
it seems as though Jiminez has settle down
October 12th, 2009 at 7:51 pm
c’mon phillies!!! hit the damn ball!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:52 pm
WERTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:52 pm
WERTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
October 12th, 2009 at 7:52 pm
told ya
October 12th, 2009 at 7:52 pm
OH BABY!!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:52 pm
WERTH!!!!!!!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:53 pm
We’re not WERTHY!!! We’re not WERTHY!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:53 pm
Jimenez: HUGE mistake there. He made Werth look like poop on a curve. Thanks for the 97 MPH fastball, Ubaldo. Jayson made that hurt, yeah. We like fastballs. Keep throwing fastballs down the middle, please.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:53 pm
I guess all you need to do is ask!
October 12th, 2009 at 7:54 pm
All you need is Werth, dahdah dahdah dah daahhh
I hate when commercials stick in my head
October 12th, 2009 at 7:54 pm
Man Feliz is STRUGGLING at the plate…
October 12th, 2009 at 7:54 pm
another quick out for Feliz, but got that nice insurance run.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:55 pm
It’s probably good the Phils didn’t chase Jiminez then, short of the Rockies batting around Jiminez will be back out there on 103 instead of a good Rockies bullpen.
October 12th, 2009 at 7:59 pm
Those last 3 pitches were strikes…. ugh
October 12th, 2009 at 7:59 pm
Cliff got squeezed
October 12th, 2009 at 8:01 pm
and it is a game
October 12th, 2009 at 8:01 pm
almost
October 12th, 2009 at 8:01 pm
ew…
October 12th, 2009 at 8:02 pm
Good throw, all things considered
October 12th, 2009 at 8:02 pm
Crap. We are making Helton look like Chone Figgins tonight. Good throw would have had him there, I think.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:02 pm
OH MY…NICE DP!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:02 pm
Ok this is not good. Lee just needs to settle down and get us through the inning. I say we bring in Pedro for 2-3 innings.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:02 pm
well we lost that insurance run.
but a nice DP ends the inning.
Ruiz, Lee, Rollins. let’s go!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:02 pm
Whee! Nothing like a base running error to bail us out of an inning!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:02 pm
thank you… now let’s do something jimmy
October 12th, 2009 at 8:03 pm
Lee at 91 pitches.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:03 pm
I hope this is a wake up call for our offense…. especially Jimmy.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:04 pm
well, hopefully somebody will do something before we get to jimmy…
October 12th, 2009 at 8:04 pm
If we had BOBBY JENKS THIS WOULDN’T BE HAPPENING
October 12th, 2009 at 8:04 pm
And they should probably PH for Lee. He’s up to 90 pitches already, and looking a bit shaky
October 12th, 2009 at 8:05 pm
Anybody get the feeling that Tracy is purposely strategizing to face Lidge in order to maximize Colorado’s chance of winning?
October 12th, 2009 at 8:06 pm
i agree, it was a good throw considering j-roll had to catch a throw that wasn’t exactly on the money….
October 12th, 2009 at 8:07 pm
Joedad – i’d put in jenks in like the 5th inning
October 12th, 2009 at 8:08 pm
J-Roll’s trow hit the mound which made it bounce to the right of the plate. Otherwise Helton is out
October 12th, 2009 at 8:08 pm
Can’t believe this guy is still pitching….
October 12th, 2009 at 8:10 pm
119 pitches
October 12th, 2009 at 8:11 pm
Jimmy gets his hit!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:11 pm
Woo hoo! Stand up double for JROLL!!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:11 pm
YES JIMMY! That’s what we needed!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:12 pm
Na na na na
Na na na na
Hey hey
Good bye…
or not.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:12 pm
Bobby Jenks? If we had him he’d be as important as Lidge has been so far in this series…
October 12th, 2009 at 8:13 pm
Seriously?? Pitch #2 is a strike???
October 12th, 2009 at 8:14 pm
ugh.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:14 pm
close
October 12th, 2009 at 8:14 pm
hmm
October 12th, 2009 at 8:15 pm
nj – it’s a running joke
October 12th, 2009 at 8:16 pm
Oh well…….
This guy pitched 7 innings, and we couldn’t knock him out… now it’s only a one-run game and we have to get through the 7th first.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:16 pm
my bad been out of the loop recently
Come on Clifton!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:18 pm
what with the europop their playing…?
October 12th, 2009 at 8:23 pm
beautiful pitch
October 12th, 2009 at 8:23 pm
oh no
October 12th, 2009 at 8:23 pm
AH!!!! RAUUULL WHAT HAPPENED!!!?????? AGHHHHHHHH
October 12th, 2009 at 8:23 pm
OMG Raul!! That will cost us the game
October 12th, 2009 at 8:23 pm
ugh
October 12th, 2009 at 8:24 pm
Ibanez error: shades of Greg Luzinski, circa 1978 v. Dodgers in LCS. Different overall outcome, please.

October 12th, 2009 at 8:28 pm

October 12th, 2009 at 8:28 pm
WHEW! dodged that bullet
October 12th, 2009 at 8:28 pm
LEE is God among men.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:28 pm

October 12th, 2009 at 8:32 pm
Joedad – you forgot to add….BLINDFOLDED
October 12th, 2009 at 8:32 pm
Does anyone know what time the Braves are playing?
October 12th, 2009 at 8:33 pm
in his cap, j reed
October 12th, 2009 at 8:34 pm
nice walk Utley! woo.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:34 pm
Chase needs to steal, Ryan moves him over and Werth brings him home!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:34 pm
I’ll take a free base.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:34 pm
the big thunder cometh….
October 12th, 2009 at 8:35 pm
I think the Braves are playing April 5th.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:36 pm
If these broadcasters give as much love to the Rockies players in the clubhouse as they do in the press box they’d get arrested for prostitution…
October 12th, 2009 at 8:36 pm
nice steal Utley!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:37 pm
NICE CHASE!!!!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:37 pm
I’m expecting Lee to pitch the 8th. However, though he may test us (e.g. use of Blanton as reliever), in Charlie we Trust.
Big stolen base by Utley.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:38 pm
Grrrrrrrrreat a strikeout that wasn’t a strike.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:38 pm
Make up call obv
October 12th, 2009 at 8:38 pm
come on Rauuuuuuul
October 12th, 2009 at 8:38 pm
one of the nice things about being a phillies fan is we don’t have anyone on the team with a pornostash to be embarassed by….
October 12th, 2009 at 8:39 pm
Ibanez should be insulted. Ibanez should do something about that.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:39 pm
The ump is as in love with Torreabla as the announcers are. If they call him “smart” one more time, I’m gonna hurl.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:39 pm
The difference was that Lee’s pitch was INSIDE the strike zone, and this one wasn’t.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:40 pm
These non strike strikes are slowly getting me completely pissed off. The umping is becoming more of an issue than ever before. It’s absolutely godawful.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:40 pm
@J Reed: Yeah, but we have no shortage of unfortunate facial hair.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:41 pm
alright Feliz, don’t swing on the 1st pitch.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:42 pm
Nice walk Rauuuuuuuuuul!
Now, if Pedro could only get a sac fly or something…
October 12th, 2009 at 8:42 pm
Give Feliz the take sign! Please Pedro, do not swing at the first pitch!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:42 pm
nj – no doubt – a couple of two fiddy crack hos
October 12th, 2009 at 8:42 pm
Seriously? They’re changing pitchers with Mr. DP coming up to bat?
October 12th, 2009 at 8:43 pm
I meant: Mr. GIDP
October 12th, 2009 at 8:43 pm
LETS GO PHILLIES! LETS GO PHILLIES! LETS GO PHILLIES!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:44 pm
tracey – my theory about “the soul patch” is they think it camoflagues their “dip lip”
October 12th, 2009 at 8:45 pm
WTF PEDRO. THAT IS DISGUSTING
October 12th, 2009 at 8:45 pm
I am going to be sick. Horrible
October 12th, 2009 at 8:45 pm
why does Feliz swing on the first pitch again!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:45 pm
Bleh
October 12th, 2009 at 8:46 pm
that’s fine cause ruiz is coming up
October 12th, 2009 at 8:46 pm
WTF, Pedro?! Why do you torment us so? At least you play good D.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:46 pm
Sorry but Feliz better not be back next year. Two games in a row he blows it with the bases loaded. It’s one thing to work a count and try and do something but two days in a row and he blows it like he did…swinging at the first pitch are you kidding?
October 12th, 2009 at 8:47 pm
FREAKING DISGUSTING
October 12th, 2009 at 8:47 pm
LA: “How ’bout if they wait til he throws a strike to swing?”
October 12th, 2009 at 8:47 pm
blahhhhhhhhhhh
October 12th, 2009 at 8:47 pm
shoooooooooooooooooooooot!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:48 pm
How about switching Feliz and Chooch in the batting order????
October 12th, 2009 at 8:48 pm
this team can’t hit for crap. and now we have to face the top of the order
October 12th, 2009 at 8:48 pm
Ugh. We had problems all year with RISP, I guess it shouldn’t surprise us. Of course, that’s squarely on Feliz in that inning. Zero reason to swing at the first pitch in that situation.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:48 pm
Raul needs to teach a “work the count” class. He seems to be the only one doing it.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:49 pm
FELIZ SUCKS WORK THE COUNT THE DAMN BASES ARE LOADED JACKASS
October 12th, 2009 at 8:49 pm
I think if we make it, feliz has to sit, but that leaves dobbs and he did the same thing 3 times in a row earlier this year
October 12th, 2009 at 8:49 pm
OK, OK. Let’s hope Clifford gets through this inning with less than ten pitches.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:50 pm
Baseballbriefs.com tracking back NLDS Gameday: Phillies at Rockies, Game 4…
Baseballbriefs.com tracking back NLDS Gameday: Phillies at Rockies, Game 4…
October 12th, 2009 at 8:50 pm
OK: 6 more outs. 6 outs with no runs and we clinch. That’s all we need to do.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:50 pm
i mean at least you could get a pass ball
October 12th, 2009 at 8:52 pm
CMON CLIFF!!!!!!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:53 pm
holy moly!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:54 pm
I realize Feliz had a ok year at the plate but he is horrible with men in scoring. Double play last night and this. First pitch. Could of had the game right there.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:54 pm
what pisses me off about the feliz issue is that no one obviously says anything to him after this stuff cause he keeps doing it.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:54 pm
This umpire is so inconsistent…
October 12th, 2009 at 8:55 pm
Boy is this ump inconsistent.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:55 pm
Apparently the umpire forgot that there are STRIKES and balls. Count should be 2-2.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:55 pm
dp please
October 12th, 2009 at 8:56 pm
Ouch.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:56 pm
JESUS ROLLINS!!!!!!!!! OMFG
CATCH THE DAMN BALL!!!!!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:56 pm
PANIC
October 12th, 2009 at 8:57 pm
NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! STUPID PLAY!!!!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 8:57 pm
now the ump is squeezing Lee..
October 12th, 2009 at 8:58 pm
That was pretty pathetic on Rollins part.
October 12th, 2009 at 8:59 pm
omg…this is awful. i cant watch. i have no faith in my team which is bad.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:00 pm
I guess we gotta give Howell credit for a good play there. Tough catch for Jimmy.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:02 pm
Let’s do this MAD DOGGGGG!!!!!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 9:02 pm
By the way: Phillies radio was saying that leaping Fowler touched Utley, which is interference and should have put him out
YES!!! FRANCISCO!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 9:02 pm
crap in the pants
October 12th, 2009 at 9:02 pm
CAN YA SMELL WHAT THE ROCKIES GOT COOKING….PRETTY SOON WE’RE GONNA HEAR ……??????
October 12th, 2009 at 9:04 pm
At Thursday’s game, when Giambi came in to PH, the crowd started chanting “STER-OIDS STER-OIDS!”
October 12th, 2009 at 9:05 pm
Aw crap…
October 12th, 2009 at 9:05 pm
We will have to win in Phila Madson blows He is awful
October 12th, 2009 at 9:07 pm
tough break
October 12th, 2009 at 9:07 pm
Ugly pitches from Madson, how do you leave the fastball up in that situation and not at least marginally off the plate???
October 12th, 2009 at 9:07 pm
OHHHHHHHHHHH BABBBBBBBY. Thank you Jroll for bad d. Thank you Madson for being horrible. Thank you Feliz for not being clutch. Going back to Philly. Hamels. thats what I want. YEA.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:09 pm
rollins sucks his bat blows ans his glove blew there…lee should of stayed in.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:09 pm
Well, thats that. Screw the error, the stranded bases loadedx2 killed us. should be at the very least 4-4, at regular 6-4.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:09 pm
Just turned it off. Error cost us HUGE!!! 2 times we had bases loaded and did shit. Season over. Hammels will lose tomorrow.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:12 pm
I did say Rockies would win this series. Rollins has been bad. Feliz cant hit. Madson blows up. Now we have its ok guys chill hamels. over
October 12th, 2009 at 9:12 pm
Never ever put Jimmie Rollins in the same sentence with DEREK JETER…bet ya Lee happy }
October 12th, 2009 at 9:13 pm
I don’t see them winning this series. Momentum has shifted.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:13 pm
That was totally Ryan Madson there, the pitch wasn’t inside to Giambi and caught a massive chunk of the plate and the one to Torrealba just sat up there where anyone with any kind of swing could extend on…
October 12th, 2009 at 9:13 pm
I dont understand when lee is pitching fine. he let up a ground ball that shouldve ended the inning but jroll blew it. so we take him out? and then put in madson? i dont understand. this is why were losing games. look back on a lot of our losses. bad decisions of pitching changes have caused a lot of them.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:13 pm
What a disgraceful loss. I’ve shut the game off. Doubt I’ll even put it on tomorrow.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:13 pm
Eh, whatever. Poor RISP/BL hitting and an error.
Enjoy it now, Rockies fans. You’ll soon be focusing on OH MY GOD KYLE ORTON IS GOD!
October 12th, 2009 at 9:14 pm
October 12th, 2009 at 9:14 pm
You know, I am so very sick and tired of the nonsense around here. The regulars are worse than the trolls. Same crap that drove me away on 9/27, saying that the Phils wouldn’t win the division, that they would lose all their remaining games and Atlanta would win all of theirs. I don’t know why I bothered coming back here.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:14 pm
you know what? im done on here. im a loser living in my mothers basement in staten island. thats right im a mets fan just angry how my team sucks and chokes each year. and the rockies suck, i dont even like them, or myself…
October 12th, 2009 at 9:14 pm
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE F.U.C.K PHILLIES!!!!!!!!!???? PEDRO YOU BLEW THIS ONE!
October 12th, 2009 at 9:16 pm
feliz better sit tomorrow put cairo in…he gets the jeltz.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:17 pm
Tracey, sooooo your saying that the Braves didn’t win the division?
October 12th, 2009 at 9:18 pm
can rollins set the table again tonight???
Let’s Go Phillies!
Win this now so we can get some well deserved rest tomorrow!
October 12th, 2009 at 9:18 pm
the series is over i have zero confidence in cole “primadonna” hamels…can’t believe he’s getting the start.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:18 pm
if Jroll would have made that catch from chase…
totally different game…
who’s to blame – jroll, madson, the whole offense?? francisco saved madson by making that amazing catch and then madson gives up 3 runs…what the hell is that crap??
October 12th, 2009 at 9:18 pm
Ok we need a homer.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:18 pm
Had to run and find my mute button. ughhh..
October 12th, 2009 at 9:19 pm
if erye is avaliable why wasn’t he in there to face giambi?
October 12th, 2009 at 9:20 pm
wow. any way moyer can be available for game one of the nlcs?
October 12th, 2009 at 9:20 pm
You all knew I’d come out of my hole
October 12th, 2009 at 9:21 pm
Oh good grief… that was NOT a strike!
October 12th, 2009 at 9:21 pm
Also, F.uck the moderators for moderating so much
October 12th, 2009 at 9:21 pm
is madson the new brad lidge of 2009???
October 12th, 2009 at 9:21 pm
Man, the Rockies bandwagon has a hell of a capacity.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:22 pm
Why wasn’t anyone else available?
Eyre was sitting in the dugout during the 7th…makes me think he’s not available after all.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:23 pm
So how is it that Utley hasn’t walked on 5 balls?
October 12th, 2009 at 9:23 pm
F.uck The commentators, F.uck sportscenter, F.uck the yankees, F.uck espn news, F.uck Coors, and Coors light, and F.uck Everything in Colorado except for B. Dawk…Everyone can eat a D.ick
October 12th, 2009 at 9:23 pm
Offense gets the loss. Rollins second.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:23 pm
they love that guy
October 12th, 2009 at 9:23 pm
i think maybe they should have just stuck with lee in the 8th..but his pitch count was pretty high so not sure if that would even have worked out
October 12th, 2009 at 9:24 pm
Alright, Chase.
Big Brown, I’m counting on you now.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:24 pm
howard?he’s due,but he won’t come through in the clutch.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:25 pm
Eh, just load the bases. Sure fire way to have the Phillies not score.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:25 pm
Ryan, please teach these front-runner fans to have a little faith.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:26 pm
Attention Rockies fans – you have as much chance of winning the WS this year as the Boston Red Sox. Get over yourselves.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:26 pm
i was thinking the same thing phils phan. but TORREALBA WOULD.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:27 pm

October 12th, 2009 at 9:28 pm

October 12th, 2009 at 9:29 pm

October 12th, 2009 at 9:30 pm
OH BABY!!! PHILS TAKE THE LEAD!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 9:30 pm
Notice how we, the TBS announcers, weren’t nearly as excited as we were when TORREALBA hit his 2 run double?
October 12th, 2009 at 9:30 pm

Wow.
Commence acid reflux for the inevitable B9.

joedad – or …”Bitches, suck it”
October 12th, 2009 at 9:32 pm
Eh, the national announcers have always been against the Phils. It was obvious throughout last year. They don’t want the 2 PM wonders to win.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:32 pm
Great job now lets get Lidge out there he was good yesterday…..I can see’m blowing on his fingers now …or is he smelling them…..oooowh!
October 12th, 2009 at 9:33 pm

October 12th, 2009 at 9:53 pm
IS THIS FUN BOYS. I cant take anymore.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:53 pm
So I think that all of the posters an inning ago saying that the Phillies would lose the series, they lost the momentum, are done with this team, etc. etc. should be banned from posting come gameday, for their lack of faith!!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 9:54 pm
Well, I look forward to seeing all of you here telling me that there is absolutely no chance they are going to win the pennant…
October 12th, 2009 at 9:55 pm
Wow what a comeback, this team has showed so much heart in this series.
GO PHILLIES!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 9:56 pm
no baseball to watch tomorrow
October 12th, 2009 at 9:56 pm
Thank God all the fair weather fans left this one…although we know they didn’t. What a great win.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:56 pm
Tools: I’m with you!
October 12th, 2009 at 9:56 pm
AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH WOWWWWWWW I LOVE THIS TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YES BRAD LIDGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH WHAT A GAME!!!!!!!!!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 9:56 pm
i agree tools of ignorance…this team has come back all year but not only were people bailing on the game after the rockies took the lead they bailed on the series.
Craig it was nice having you as a guest, have a nice offseason
October 12th, 2009 at 9:57 pm
With a doubt, one of the best wins in Phils history. How ironic is it that the Phils-Rockies produce the best series after being screwed by time slots? Shades of Game 4 of the 2008 NLCS
October 12th, 2009 at 9:57 pm
PHILLIIIIEEEEESSSS WIIIINNNN!!!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 9:57 pm
Howard for the Ashburn!
October 12th, 2009 at 9:58 pm
I can’t stop screaming and jumping!!
October 12th, 2009 at 9:58 pm
Yeah Howard or Lidge for the Ashburn
October 12th, 2009 at 9:58 pm
Yorvit Torrealba can go get kissed by Carlos Gonzalez in the dugout…. Phillies win!
October 12th, 2009 at 9:58 pm
I am in shock.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:59 pm
EASILY THE 2ND BEST SAVE OF LIDGE CAREER…WORLD SERIES IS OBVIOUSLY #1.
October 12th, 2009 at 9:59 pm
Now we have to go to a seven game series! Let’s Go Phillies!

October 12th, 2009 at 10:01 pm
From now on, I wear Depends when the Phillies are in the playoffs.
October 12th, 2009 at 10:03 pm

October 12th, 2009 at 10:04 pm
I am stunned beyond words!
October 12th, 2009 at 10:04 pm
Fo Fo Fo Bitches
October 12th, 2009 at 10:04 pm
Holy Crap. That may have been the greatest comeback in Phillies history. I think of NLCS game 4 but even that wasn’t quite as dramatic.
October 12th, 2009 at 10:07 pm
if you didn’t have grey hair, you do now….
October 12th, 2009 at 10:07 pm
Oh my…I was so scared that Gonzalez was going to catch Howard’s ball…this game is not for the weak. Anyone who turned off the game in the 9th is a coward. Oh wow, I’m still breathing hard.
October 12th, 2009 at 10:07 pm
It’s 4:15 AM here in Vienna and it feels awesome. My beloved Phillies have won!!! I wish I could make some noise but I would wake everyone up. The Phillies are an awesome team….just wunderschon!!!!
October 12th, 2009 at 10:09 pm
Yeah keith, I’m hoping ron darling (?) (that Mets broadcaster) is one of them, he’s definitely one of my favorites, he was on the…cards/dodgers games?
October 12th, 2009 at 10:11 pm
Man there’s a lot of dirt and worms under this rock
October 12th, 2009 at 10:14 pm
Feliz for the Jeltz, 4 at-bats 8 pitches seen…….are you serious, does he even care at the plate?
October 12th, 2009 at 10:15 pm
@Little Guy: Um… there is no Jeltz. We won. We clinched. Or did you miss that?
October 12th, 2009 at 10:15 pm

October 12th, 2009 at 10:18 pm
@Joedad: HA!
Thanks for keeping me from being the only person who didn’t give up hope!
October 12th, 2009 at 10:19 pm
Tracey, i know, i expected them to be in this position, but Feliz is killing this team offensively, take some damn pitches and work the count and get a decent pitch to hit

October 12th, 2009 at 10:26 pm
Tracey, there are more of us, we just aren’t the squeeky wheels.
jt, no problem, so long as you suck it, suck it good
October 12th, 2009 at 10:30 pm
Uh oh… TV is showing crowds on the street in Mayfair… hope they keep it clean…
October 12th, 2009 at 10:34 pm
what an amazing series, i can’t believe it. How can the only series in the division series that I care about be so dramatic and all the other series suck. I had a freaking heart attack watching the phils and I fell asleep watching all the others, stupid cardinals, red sox, and twins. The only that was good put me on pins and needles.
October 12th, 2009 at 10:34 pm
Tracey I totally effin agree with you! I’ve sat back for a month and read all the cry babies and bad talker! greatest comeback in baseball history for one game and this team is for real! I’m excited and lovin it

This is fantastic; I got so tired of listening to the Colorado fans cheer or boo on every pitch in this game that I turned the volume on the TV off not to mention those monkeys jumping around behind home plate all night.
October 12th, 2009 at 10:47 pm
It’s amazing that the announcers were saying how the fielders are practially at the warning track when howard has his last at bat and he still managed to get it over their heads. I hope I get to hear our radio announcers make those last calls
October 12th, 2009 at 10:49 pm
ray, i’m agreeing, i hope thefightins.com or someone posts them rather soon, i was thinking about that right as it was happening, since the tbs announcers sounded…less than enthused, let’s say.
October 12th, 2009 at 10:50 pm
joedad some of these guys change their names after they make negative comment about how we are done, and then come back as other people when we win..lol
October 12th, 2009 at 10:52 pm
the tbs announcers didn’t capture the moment at all october, keep us posted if you find it somewhere
October 12th, 2009 at 10:53 pm
When Madson coughed up the lead in the 8th, I let my superstitions rule my behavior. So I muted Philliesnation by closing my laptop, muted the TBS audio and, oddly, grabbed the nearest cap (76ers) I could find. So, with the sound off and the cap of Iguodala and Elton Brand on my hand, I joined all you guys in watching the most amazing postseason Phillies comeback of all time. Rollins, Utley, Howard, Werth, Eyre, Lidge–how CLUTCH were these guys?! Wow.
How can you not like us against the Dodgers? LA had it oddly easy against the Cards, but hell is about to reign down upon them. Hollywood Hamels in Game 1, Blanton in Game 2, Lee in Game 3. I like the way this is shaping up, sports fans.
It sure is sweet being a Phillies fan, folks.
October 12th, 2009 at 11:02 pm
ray, lol, i was thinking the same thing about the name changers
OK, here’s my theory. The Phils were pissed they were swept in 3 games in 2007 so, to pay back the Rockies fans, they lost one game in Philly, then allow the Rockies to take the lead in the 8th inning to make it seem like the Rockies might be able to pull it off. Then, they waited until they had 2 outs in the 9th and BAM, how you like the sweep now?
October 12th, 2009 at 11:06 pm
Hey….where are those reporters that called Rockies in five in the Philly papers????
October 12th, 2009 at 11:06 pm
i’d hate to be the coors park guy who has to clean up the champagne mess we left behind….
October 12th, 2009 at 11:18 pm
carlos pena is on MLB network as a commentator
October 13th, 2009 at 2:22 pm
All you people that gave up or turned the TV off when we lost the lead are complete morons. It doesn’t matter how far we are down or what inning it is, we always seem to fight our way back in and at least make the game interesting. I know Feliz is frustrating sometimes but he’s not the only one that didnt hit with the bases loaded. During the regular season he had the best avg with RISP on the team. He had some clutch hits for us the past two years, especially the one that knocked in the WINNING run in game 5 of the World Series last year. Seriously would you rather have at 3rd, David Bell, Abraham Nunez or Pedro? I know I would want Pedro. Other than Scott Rolen, He’s the best 3rd basemen we had since Mike Schmidt
October 13th, 2009 at 2:53 pm
Hopefully our own fans will now be done second-guessing the manager, and bashing our players for an error or lack of a hit

I work with these dogs and as far as animal behavior goes, I am a strong believer in nurture and training. I’ve met Jack Russell Terriers that I wouldn’t go around again, but have for no reason had a poor knowledge with an American Staffordshire Terrier. If you’re speaking about their owners- nicely, that’s a several story. Humans are animals as well, and we tend to every have our unique ideas about “moral concepts”.
