Soriano has been injury prone in the past, but he will be expensive based on his performance when he’s healthy. I’m not sure he’d be needed, especially if his arm acts up again. If Lidge can’t start the year, it’s been indicated that he will be ready shortly thereafter. Madson might be adequate for a couple of weeks. Lidge, after all, didn’t start his perfect 2008 season the first week, either.

The Phils do need bullpen arms, particularly if Eyre doesn’t return. I think left handers are needed most, though. Wagner, however, is too old and too much of a disruption.

As far as “ragging” on players not earning their money, I don’t find that obnoxious. It’s the questioning of attitudes, personal attacks, and the crude name-calling that I don’t like. I don’t think any of the Phils lack mental fortitude, even if they appear to at times. Some of them make regrettable comments and do stupid things off the field, but I think everyone does, particularly when things aren’t going well. But the real head cases are always weeded out; the Phils don’t even sign the Milton Bradleys and John Rockers of the baseball world, and the few duds they’ve had seem to get released pretty quickly. The PED using infielder they tried in spring training and at Lehigh Valley this year got dumped so fast I can’t even remember his name.

Wahooooooooo…..didn’t think the man would pay up but he did….section 118 tonight to watch the BOYS…play with the sparrows like toys…..GO DALLAS….thought you were going to re-neg on the World Series bet….so if you add in the 2 tickets plus the EASY MONEY won off the Phillies in the World series all toll $5,950.00….not bad …..got the new BIG “D” hat yesterday….but still waiting for the apology suck up and don’t make me tell your pals on here bro…..who this is ….I know they will eat you up and spit you out….ya gave up the tickets now put it in words on the blog. Its gotta be on here by the time me and my partner get back from the game.

Billy Wagner — a name from the past — has been mentioned on MLB RUMORS as a good fit for the Philly bullpen. He can pitch and we need a closer. Lidge may not be ready for the start of the season next year. We all know Bill “Big Mouth” is a whore, but he CAN pitch.

Soriano will cost a ton I am sure but personally I think he is worth it. He would be my number one priority in the off season. I think if Hamels comes back circa 2008 then your rotation is in good shape heading into next year with Lee, Hamels, Blanton, Happ and even Kendrick as your 5th until Drabek is ready. I’d love a new third basemen but if I had my option, I’d take Feliz and Soriano over Beltre and someone of lesser talent than Soriano.

Hi Geoff. There is no way in the world we would get Rafael Soriano. How much do you think it would cost to get him? I think a lot. He’s a stud. I love most players when they play well. I rag players most when they stink. “Special players”, proven Philadelphia stalwarts, like Utley for instance, get passes from me. Lidge is not one of them. For the most part, as far as I’m concerned, if you make lots of money, you’re not allowed to suck.
