I think Kendrick should be the long man in our bullpen. He showed enough at the end of the season to warrant that role I think. Less pressure. Moyer, just, I dunno. Im sure hell be at ST, but they really oughtta pay him to retire early and try to hire him to some kind of coaching role in the organization.

Lee
Hamels
Blanton
Piniero
Happ

Happ is a 4th starter kind of, yeah. He slowed down a bit in the postseason, but that couldve just been because his arm was tired. He will probably struggle a bit this season as well. Hed go 5th but that would just mean simply that we have a deeper rotation this year if they go ahead and sign a 4th starter like Piniero or Marquis (but I think they may not be able to afford them, because the Starters will be waiting to see what Lackey gets - and we could always trade).

Ruben DID say he was looking for Bench Help, Bullpen Help, 3B, and Starting Pitching depth primarily right now. SP depth to me means signing or trading for a 4th starter. It sounds like they will NOT rush Drabek, which is the correct move. They will give him at least half a season at AAA I think.

Piniero, Lyon, Beltre, Torrealba, Uribe and a 5th OF would be excellent. Happ is our 4th starter?

When are they expecting that draybek will be able to start? Mid season? 2011?

How about: Piniero, Lyon, Beltre, Torrealba, Uribe. Maybe take a chance n Joaquin Benoit if hes cheap. If Rodney will take less money thats great.

They need a 4th starter type like Piniero, as I think Wolf wont come here Marquis is too costly. Its not even worth looking at Looper of Garland, thats making the team worse. For that 4th starter they may have to make a trade because of the cost.

our 5th OF and the backup catcher will make less than 2 each. they will likely be bottom of the barrel guys, as will one of those relievers. just off the scrap heap basically.

Well with baseball free agency it takes a while for it to fall into place. The top guys usually have to sign first at each position. never always, youll have small names sign first. But the rest of the guys depend on it. who knows though, with this economy things get wierder in sports every year.

Yikes. I added up the contracts on Cots baseball giveing Blanton and Victorino about 4-5 million in raises total and it looks like the $120 mil doesn't include Park, Durbin and Condrey which means that 20 million needs to land a 3b, utility infielder, 5th OF, back-up catcher and 3 relievers unless they count on the minors. This is why I'd love to look at Kouzmanoff because you'll have an extra 3 or 4 million for bull pen

5 for 3b
5 for top end reliever
2 for backup OF
2 for utility infielder
2 for backup catcher
2 for reliever
2 for reliever

Brandon Lyon is a guy I'd look at, but he's in the 5 mil range like Betancourt. Vargas has been a solid reliever after being a terrible starter. He should be in-expensive.
