Ed R, I usually dont disagree with you, but I disagree that Myers shouldnt have said anything. Like it or not, Cole Hamels has NOT performed to HIS OWN ABILITY. He CAN be a great pitcher, but overall, has not been an Ace this season (with the exception of a few great starts), and postseason has not been any better at all! Cole Hamels whether he spoke 95% about wanting to ball screwed up and made it sound like he just wants to go home. Cole Hamels NEEDED to have a fir lit under him, and have him get PISSED. Too often he has gotten flustered, but I havent seen that Pissed off I want to prove something Cole Hamels we saw last year. This MIGHT just have been that thing that Cole Needed to get Pissed and throw a gem IF we get to game 7.

I only half agree with the idea Utley won’t see anything to hit. If the guys in front of him set the table, and particularly if we can get something started at the bottom of our DH’d line-up, there’s no choice except to pitch to him.

The big question, I guess, is what happens to the line-up if Shane’s taken out of it? Werth in the 2-hole? Ibanez?

I’m fine with Wednesday, Thursday. Pettite should be very hittable on three days rest. Unfortunately Pero will be hittable also. Should be a high scoring affair. Phils rock in these type of games. Yanks bull pen isn’t built for it.

Game 7 will be all hands on deck. Don’t get down on Cole. His arm is shot(I agree with Kerrigan). He’s only good for 50/60 pitches. Use Cole for 3, then go Happ/Blanton/Lee in the middle and close out with Park/Madson/Lidge/Eyre. * I didn’t like what Cole said, But i understand were he’s coming from. On the flip side Lidge’s blank stare pisses me off much more, but that’s just me.

Phils will do it!

Thought that this was interesting… Pettitte has NOT been lights out in prior series deciding starts. In a fairly large sample size (40+ innings), he has given up better than 20 runs. His ERA is a ho-hum 4.54 in these types of games… and that’s on normal rest.

Giddy up…

It might snow on Thursday… I would love to see MLB push it back to Friday but I doubt that will happen. Tomorrows game goes off as scheduled.

The weather reports is calling for rain/snow in New York on Thursday night. This means game 7 may be pushed back a day to Friday which means that Cliff Lee could pitch that game on short rest.

Phils need to win game 6 first, but suddenly the Phils’ chances for game 7 got a lot better.

Game 6 is a very winnable game… it really does depend on whether Andy Pettitte will be ready to pitch on short rest and that is a HUGE question mark. Think about it… being 37 and a veteran, his body is now very much dependent on his routine… For instance, his first day off, he might tired and used to taking it easy. Second day, he’s probably sore. Third day, he might still be sore but he’s able to throw without feeling tired. Fourth day, his pitches are getting some of that bite back… Fifth day, he’s ready to go. What happens when he doesn’t have that fourth day? What happens when you see a pitcher for the second time in four days? Hopefully, it’s a feast for our guys!

The Phillies and their fans…..that’s all of us…..are participating in a MEANINGFUL baseball game in November……that’s NOVEMBER….it’s a super thrill to be thinking about the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday and watching the Phillies defend their title at the same time…

We need to get past Game 6 first guys! Pedro does best on lots of rest. But we will see how he does. I look for Happ et al to back him up.

IF there is a game 7 I expect Hamels to start but on a short leash. Closer will be Lee if we are lucky.

Odds of taking two at New York are low but not impossible.

Whatever happens, can we stop looking for someone to blame? Someone wins and someone loses. The Yankees are a good team – they will hit the best pitchers. They have good pitchers who are hard to hit. Same for the Phillies.

Enjoy the ride – 28 other teams are home watching. I would rather love the angst of watching these games rather than not!

Go Phillies!
