AHHHHHHHHHHH!

Last week I was asked offline about the title of Jim’s last column – the old "it’s a marathon not a sprint" line.  I was told it was too cliché, especially this early in the year.  I disagreed.  It was totally appropriate because the more I think of it, the more I see the Phillies as one big cliché.  The team has this uncanny knack for self-fulfilling jokes.  They’re very reflexive in how they lose games and break hearts – almost like they are a parody of themselves.  Does that make sense to anyone?  I’m just trying to wrap my head around another poor start and my annual nervous breakdown.  Maybe a sweep of the Mets is the cure.
