Gameday: Phillies (2-4) At Reds (4-2)

After a pretty crummy loss, the Phils will attempt to even up the four-game set with the Reds when Cole Hamels takes the hill today.

Yesterday the offense couldn’t come up big, and the supposed ace, Brett Myers, struggled for a second consecutive start. He needs to check-ity check himself before he wreck-ity wrecks himself.

Phillies: Cole Hamels (0-1), 1.13 ERA
Reds: Bronson Arroyo (0-0), 3.60 ERA

Gametime: 12:35 p.m.
Weather: 69 degrees, partly cloudy
Lineup: Rollins/Victorino/Utley/Howard/Burrell/Jenkins/Feliz/Ruiz/Hamels

Your gameday beer: It’s noon on a Monday, but a drink won’t hurt, right? Considering the only time I usually drink at noon on a Monday is if Monday is St. Patrick’s Day, I’m going with the “Irish” red today: Killian’s Irish Red

lager. It’s not really Irish — it’s more of a watered down microbrew version of a good European red lager. Have one with some corned beef, a strong meat that’ll keep the mediocrity of Killian’s at bay.

Go Phillies!

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
