Gamenight: Phillies (64-57) At Padres (47-74)

In what has become an absolute nightmare, the Phillies are on a boat without a paddle, in a car without brakes, on a plane without oxygen masks. The point is, the Phils are really in trouble. Tonight they begin a three-game set with the Padres. This blogger has/is taking today to step back from the Phils (as I think many of us really devoted to covering this team have done lately). You can find me sipping on a margarita in Mystic, Conn, tonight.

Splits and storylines don’t matter. What matters is a win.

Phillies: Jamie Moyer (10-7) 3.81 ERA
Padres: Greg Maddux (6-8) 4.12 ERA

Gametime: 10:05 p.m. EST
Weather: 71, fair
Lineup:

MLB TV
MLB Gameday Audio

Your gamenight beer: While I’m drinking margaritas, you can have Girardin Faro 1882. This rare German specialty bubbles. What else is rare? A Phillies win, lately. They’ll need it tonight, so seek this one out and enjoy it with some hot dogs and kraut. Mmm, grill food.

Go Phillies!

Tim Malcolm

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
