Gamenight: Phillies (65-58) At Padres (48-75)

Kyle Kendrick stunk; the Phillies offense stunk as much. Put it together and you have an 8-3 loss to the Padres. Now the Phils face losing two of three to San Diego and, thus, pushing their deficit in the NL East back to three games. The Mets defeated the Pirates today, with Johan Santana pitching a three-hit shutout. Awesome, right?

Come On, Cole: The Phillies will turn to Cole Hamels to stop the skidding. He desperately needs his 10th win of the season. Last time out he got barely any run support, the bullpen blew the game, and the Phils lost to the Dodgers.

Hometown Hamels: Tonight, of course, Cole pitches on a national stage in his hometown of San Diego. There he ihas a 2.84 ERA in 12.2 innings.

Young James: Jimmy Rollins is 4-for-26 during the West Coast road trip.

Phillies: Cole Hamels (9-8) 3.32 ERA
Padres: Cha Seung Baek (4-7) 5.20 ERA

Gametime: 8:05 p.m. EST
Weather: 76, sunny
TV: ESPN
Lineup: Rollins/Werth/Utley/Howard/Burrell/Victorino/Dobbs/Ruiz/Hamels

Your gamenight beer: A nationally televised game, so everyone in the country can see how horrible the Phillies offense performs. Seriously, they’re going up against some guy named Baek, so look for like a run. Drink hard tonight. Go with The Reverend by Avery Brewery in Colorado. This 10 percent alcohol content beer is one of those Quadrupels, a strong Belgian-style beer rich with malts. So eat some barbecue with it tonight — maybe some beef brisket or something of that ilk. Just drink a lot — it could be a long night.

Go Phillies!
