HWL Update: Brown, Taylor Lead Honolulu

The Phillies have two players in the developmental Hawaiian Winter League. Dominic Brown and Michael Taylor, both high-prized outfield prospects, are getting their licks for the Honolulu Sharks:

Dominic Brown
Position: OF
Level: A Lakewood
Age: 21
Phuture Phillies 30: 5th
Stats: 16 AB / .500 AVG / .556 OBP / .750 SLG / 3 RBI / 3 R / 4 SO / 1 BB / 2 SB

Michael Taylor
Position: OF
Level: A+ Clearwater
Age: 22
Phuture Phillies 30: 10th
Stats: 40 AB / .200 AVG / .304 OBP / .375 SLG / 5 RBI / 7 R / 5 SO / 6 BB / 2 SB

Taylor had a game-winning double in Thursday’s game, while Brown had a couple extra-base hits. Both are highly touted, with Taylor coming on strong in 2008 to become a top prospect. Taylor might experience some growing pains from Clearwater to Reading, which is where he should undoubtedly start in 2009. Brown will likely start in Clearwater, and this indication in Hawaii is a nice appetizer for what can be a big season from the top prospect.
