Phillies Sign RHP Majewski To Minor League Deal

Denver Post writer Troy Renck reports the Phillies signed right-handed reliever Gary Majewski to a minor league deal worth $650,000.

Majewski, 29 on Opening Day, posted ERAs of 8.22 and 6.23 in the last two years. He underwent arm surgery after a long bout of right arm troubles, resulting from overusage in Washington. Back with the Nationals, he 4-4 with a 2.93 ERA in 2005 (86 IP), and 4-4 with a 4.61 ERA in 2006 (70.1 IP).

Majewski carries a low-90s fastball, a slider and an occasional changeup.

For the low price it’s nice to have even more depth at reliever. Only 29 and somewhat healthy, Majewski has still great potential as a middle reliever, or even better. He certainly has the stuff.
