The Phillies blew a game Friday night, a result that didn’t quite resemble the recent team. Cole Hamels surrendered five runs, Ryan Madson gave up three. Now the Phils have to bounce back against longtime starter Shawn Hill and the suddenly formidable Padres.

Brett Myers received the first starters’ win for the Phillies in 2009, going seven innings despite giving up three home runs against the Rockies. Already Myers has surrendered six homers this season. You’d think the Padres, then, would be a welcome sight for Myers, but these guys have hit the longball: The Padres have hit 12 homers so far this season, good for a ratio of more than one per game.

For the Phils, the homers are starting to pile. Chase Utley hit his second last night, joining Raul Ibanez (3) in the multiple home run club. He’s also hitting .394 with 20 total bases — so much for that hip. But Jimmy Rollins (.125) and Shane Victorino (.243) continue to struggle this season. They don’t have success vs. Hill (Rollins is .188, Victorino hitless), but Howard (.455) and Utley (.375) beat Hill. Looks like the lefties might have a good time tonight.

It’ll be an emotional night again, as the game caps an entire day centered on the late Harry Kalas. The entire organization remembered and buried Kalas while thousands of fans paid their final respects at the ballpark.

Your gamenight beer: One more for Harry, but really, one for the Phils to get their act together. Here is Golden Ale from St. George Brewing Co. It’s clean, tea-like in its hoppiness and is quite a smooth IPA. You’re going to eat healthy with this: Go with a garden salad and soup. Let’s hit that ball outta here plenty of times tonight.

Go Phillies!
