Vote Phillies For The 2009 All-Star Game

With the Phillies returning home for a homestand against the Nationals and Mets, it’ll give fans a chance to vote for the National and American League All-Star teams. Vote Phillies? Yes you should.

Most years, teams with high visibility rule the balloting. Last year it was the Cubs. This year, let’s make it the world champs.

Of course, be within reason. If you’re voting All-Star, I suggest punching in these names wouldn’t seem outrageous (read Fukudome, Kosuke, 2008):

1B – Ryan Howard – .290 / 3 HR / 11 RBI
2B – Chase Utley – .317 / 5 HR / 16 RBI
OF – Raul Ibanez – .324 / 5 HR / 12 RBI / 3 SB
OF – Shane Victorino – .268 / 2 HR / 13 RBI / 3 SB
OF – Jayson Werth – .290 / 2 HR / 10 RBI

Of the five, I can absolutely see Utley and Ibanez winning their respective position votes. Utley was the leading vote-getter last season in the National League; no reason to think he shouldn’t be again.

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
