Jack Taschner was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He was designated for assignment, however the Phillies were unable to trade him.
The Phillies could have outrighted him to the minors, but he would have been removed from the 40-man roster. If that were done, Taschner could have declared free agency.
