Police Charge Man in Beer Throwing Incident

As per David Murphy of the Philadelphia Daily News, John Macchione, a 21-year-old college student from Bartlett, Ill., was charged yesterday with one count of battery and one count of illegal conduct within a sports facility, after tossing a beer from the stands at Shane Victorino.  The incident occurred during the 12-5 Phillies victory on Wednesday.

After the incident, Macchione eluded police by sneaking out of the stadium, all while the cameras were focused squarely on him.  Victorino said, “It’s just not something that you do. The big picture is this guy should be held accountable.”
