Happ Named Sporting News Rookie of the Year

The good news just keeps on coming.

Phillies lefty J.A. Happ was named National League Rookie of the Year by the Sporting News according to the Twitter of David Murphy of the Philadelphia Daily News.

Happ went 12-4 with a 2.93 ERA for the Phillies this year, while shuffling from the bullpen to the rotation in the regular season, and then back to the bullpen for the postseason.  He appeared in 35 games, starting 23 of the them, after Chan Ho Park was pulled from the starting five.

In the American League, Chicago White Sox third baseman Gordon Beckham was the ROY winner.

The award is voted on by the players.
