Details on Phillies Opening Day with Phillies Nation

We’re less than four days away from the start of another exciting Phillies season and we’re glad some of you decided to spend it with us. Click on the link below for some details to help the day run smoothly.

For those riding the buses from Philly, they will depart at 7am on Monday from the P Lot outside Citizens Bank Park near Pattison and Darien Streets [view map]. You may park your car there for free while on the trip. If you offered to bring tailgate supplies like chairs, games, or coolers, please bring them and we’ll take them on the bus. Be sure to arrive by 6:45 am so we can check people in and distribute tickets at the parking lot. Set your alarm and don’t be late, we don’t want to leave without you, but will be forced to in order to avoid rush hour traffic.

Once we’re on the road, the relaxing ride will be filled with pretzels, drinks (yes, beer), Phillies movies and the occasional trivia question to win prizes.

As we arrive in DC, the buses will drop us off at tailgate parking lot. We will unload ourselves and our supplies, but all the buses will not stay. One bus will be at the tailgate to help with the bathroom situation and store things after we close shop and go into the game. However, please pack lightly as security will be tight at the game with President Obama throwing out the first pitch.

If you are meeting us at the tailgate, the lot is located at Potomac Ave and South Capitol, SW (1620 S. Capitol St.) – across from home plate at Nationals Park [view map]. For DC locals, it is recommended you take the Metro (Green Line to the Navy Yard stop). If you are driving, as you head south on South Capitol Street towards Nationals Park, turn right on P Street, left on Half Street and left on R St and you will see the big “PARKING” sign among the construction sites. Do NOT go over the Frederick Douglas Bridge – the tailgate is below the bridge. Parking in the lot is $15 and we’re aiming to start the party around 11 am.

The menu will feature BBQ favorites (chopped chicken, pork, and beef), potato salad, mac & cheese, and cole slaw along with beer and water. If you want to see the president, I recommend grabbing some food, a few drinks, and heading into the park by 12:15. The lot is slightly less than a block from the stadium. People that bought just ticket/tailgate packages can pick up their tickets to the game at the tailgate. Everyone will need to check in with a Phillies Nation representative, so please bring your ID and although a print out of your receipt is not required, it will help expedite the process.

The game is slated to start at 1:05pm. After the game, return to the tailgate lot and the buses will pick us up there. We plan on leaving no later than 30 minutes after the final pitch, so please make your way back in a timely fashion. If there is a rain delay of more than 1 hour, 30 minutes, it is likely the game will be suspended so please head back to the lot in that situation. Fortunately, weather.com is predicting 70 and sunny for Monday!

Again, thanks for partying with us and for your patience as organize everything. It’s gonna be awesome!!!
