Welcome to Philadelphia, Mike Sweeney. If this were 2003, it would be a huge move, however, Sweeney has been oft-injured for the last five seasons. He’s still a serviceable pinch-hitter and fill-in as Ryan Howard recovers from an ankle sprain. The 37-year-old hasn’t played a full season in forever, but he’s not here for that reason. He’ll be a decent low-risk stopgap.

The pitchers to start are Kyle Kendrick and Anibal Sanchez. KK has done well for himself since his recall from Lehigh Valley. In two starts since the promotion back to the majors, Kendrick has gone 13 1/3 innings while allowing just two runs.

Sanchez shut the Phillies down in their last meeting on May 30th when he went 6 2/3 without a run. The Phillies were a much different team during that time as they were mired in a two-month-long slump. It’s a much different crew facing the Marlins tonight; one that has been victorious in 10 of the last 12 games.

Phillies Lineup: Rollins SS, Polanco 3B, Ibanez LF, Werth CF, Gload 1B, Brown RF, Ruiz C, Valdez 2B, Kendrick P

Your gameday beer: Modelo

It’s not that pricey and it taste fairly decent. This is, for some reason, my new go to beer and I want you to have a taste to see what all the rave is about (is there rave about it?). Modelo is a Mexican cerveza that’s similar to a Corona. It won’t wow you but it is damn refreshing. Had one on Saturday, which turned into 8 quickly. They go down smooth.

GO PHILLIES!
