Memorial Service for Christina-Taylor Green is Thursday

From Philly.com:

The memorial serivce for Christina Taylor Green, the 9-year-old granddaughter of former Phillies manager Dallas Green, is scheduled for Thursday. The service will be held at 1 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in northwest Tucson with Bishop Gerald Kicanas presiding, according to reports in Tucson.

Christina was among six people killed Saturday by a gunman at a supermarket in Tucson. U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head. Christina, a third-grader who had been voted to the student council, went to the event with a neighbor in hopes of meeting her Congresswoman.

What an unbelievable tragedy. I’m not sure we can say much more than has already been said; but to take the life of a child – and five other humans –  in this way, is incomprehensible. Not to sound gung-ho and insensitive during this tough time, but let’s hope Jared Loughner gets what he deserves for these killings.

In this time of mourning for the entire Green family, Phillies fans can do a small part to help. Here is a list of ways to send condolences or donations to honor Christina-Taylor Green.
