Carlos Ruiz Back with the Phillies Friday

Catcher Carlos Ruiz has been activated from the 15-day disabled list, Phillies Senior Vice President and General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr. announced today.

Ruiz, 32, was originally placed on the DL on May 8, retroactive to April 28, with lower back inflammation.  He appeared in two extended spring training games and went 1-for-3 with a run scored last night in a one-game rehab assignment for single-A Clearwater.

A spot was opened for Ruiz on the 25-man roster yesterday when the Phillies placed catcher Brian Schneider on the 15-day DL with a left hamstring strain.
