Gameday: Rockies (22-19) vs. Phillies (26-16)

Colorado Rockies (22-19) at Philadelphia Phillies (26-16)

Jhoulys Chacin (4-2, 2.89 ERA) vs. Joe Blanton (1-2, 5.50 ERA) Kyle Kendrick

Time: 7:05 p.m. Citizens Bank Park
Weather: Chance of thunderstorms, 60
TV: Comcast SportsNet
Twitter: Phillies Nation

UPDATE, 6:55pm: Joe Blanton has just been scratched from his start tonight, no word yet on why. Kyle Kendrick takes his place.

News, news, news! Sorta. Shane Victorino had an MRI today, but the results were not yet known. Shane says he feels OK and is progressing. More will likely be known later.

Michael Stutes said his back is feeling good and thinks he can pitch tonight, but not sure of his availability just yet.

The lineup is also a little different. No John Mayberry or Ben Francisco in there; instead Ross Gload will get to play, something we don’t see too often. Gload has just 28 plate appearances this season. Francisco is struggling, stuck in a 3-for-35 slump. Manuel said he’ll likely be in there tomorrow, we think. “They have a lefty going tomorrow, more than likely, he’ll be in there, probably, for sure, we’ll see,” said the always effervescent Charlie Manuel.

Joe Blanton really needs a great start tonight to put to bed talk that his arm is falling off. But seriously, he’s only put together two quality starts in six games this season.

Also, Jhoulys Chacin is pronounced: Yo-leese Sha-seen. In case you were wondering.

They are going to do all they can to get this game in tonight, even with the showers and t-storms in the area. The Rockies do not come back to Philadelphia and they only have 2 other common off days this year, so a rainout will be avoided at all costs.

PHILLIES LINEUP:

Rollins SS, Martinez CF, Polanco 3B, Howard 1B, Gload RF, Ibanez LF Ruiz C, Orr 2B, Blanton P

Your Gameday Beer– Polar

To honor Rockies Venezuelan starter Jhoulys Chacin. Polar lager pours with a clear, pale-golden hue and it kind of like the Bud of Venezuela. RateBeer and BeerAdvocate give it crappy grades, and you might be hard pressed to find it here in America. The bottle itself is worth the find alone. It’s 5% alcohol, so it’ll get ya tipsy after a few. Hot dogs with a few of these sounds good. –by Pat
