Gameday: Marlins 32-33 vs. Phillies 40-26

Florida Marlins (32-33) at Philadelphia Phillies (40-26)

Chris Volstad (2-6, 5.51 ERA) vs. Cole Hamels (8-2, 2.58 ERA)

Time: 7:05, Citizens Bank Park
Weather: Cloudy, 64
TV: MyPHL 17
Media: Twitter and Facebook

Another night with the full lineup is what we’re talkin’ bout! Let’s hope we can see this order more often, as it will be the one to catapult this team to October and, hopefully, beyond.

When you’re not focusing on the offense, you’ll no doubt be honing in on Cole Hamels. The dude has been ridiculously good lately. In his last 5 starts, Hamels is 4-0 with a 1.70 ERA. Has he been the Phillies best pitcher? It’s been fairly close between he and Roy Halladay – he’s also been surprisingly more consistent.

Can the beat up Chris Volstad? They’ve faired well against him throughout his career, to the tune of 0-2 with a 6.33 ERA his last five starts since beating them May 25, 2009.

PHILLIES LINEUP:

Rollins SS, Victorino CF, Utley 2B, Howard 1B, Polanco 3B, Ibanez LF, Brown RF, Ruiz C, Hamels P

GAMEDAY BEER: Gordon Biersch Maibock

Maibock translated from German means the bock beer of May. Gordon Biersch Maibock achieves its rich malty flavor from dark roasted caramel malt, and lots of it. Originally brewed in the 14th century in the town of Einbeck, Germany, it quickly became a favorite style in Bavaria. Biersch is a San Diego brewery, where our starting pitcher Cole Hamels hails from.  Have some beef stew with it, and make sure you add mashed potatoes to it. Yummy. -By Pat
