The Phightin’ Phillies are coming off back-to-back dramatic wins.  Could this be the return of the old Phillies?  The energy in the ninth inning of last night’s game was electric, and the Phillies need to carry that momentum forward.  If they keep playing like that, they can slowly find their way back into wild card contention.  But for now, they can only take one game at a time.  Next up is Cliff Lee and Zack Greinke.

Greinke has been in the conversation of trade talks recently.  Greinke hasn’t pitched since July 13 because of his struggles during the month of July.  The Brewers decided to give Greinke extra rest, believing he will dominate like he had earlier in the season.  Expect a lot of strikeouts for Greinke; he averages 9.1 strikeouts per nine innings.

The Phillies’ offense and bullpen both have been better as of late.  Both the offense and bullpen have cost Lee wins in the past, so it’s time they owe him.  Lee’s been excellent in his last three starts, posting a 2.05 ERA.

Your Gameday Beer – Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout
Today’s beer is Black Chocolate Stout by the Brooklyn Brewery (famous for its lager). As the title implies, it’s a dark sweet brew. The chocolate flavor is nearly matched by the coffee, vanilla, toffee and roasted malt undertones but is certainly the centerpiece in the 10.6% stout. This dessert beer is heavy enough, so have it in place of coffee after dinner along with a biscuit of some sort. – By Brian
