Report: Hamels, Phillies Moving “In Right Direction”

AP

Let’s say this is a marathon. That’s 26.2 miles, so the Phillies and Cole Hamels are what, 21 or 22 miles through it?

According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com says the two sides are moving “in the right direction.” This would be the opposite of the wrong direction, I assume, so it’s good news that the lines of communication are continually open. But how long is it until all this moving closer and in the right direction becomes a six-year marriage?

Also, Heyman reports that Cliff Lee does not have the Texas Rangers on his list of teams he cannot be traded to. The Rangers have scouted Lee recently and like him as a fallback option should they miss out on Hamels and Zack Greinke of the Brewers. The Phillies, to my knowledge, have not entertained the idea of Lee being moved. But things can change rapidly as the deadline is just 10 days away.
