Jimmy Rollins and Carlos Ruiz were named NL Gold Glove finalists for 2012 last evening.
Managers, up to six coaches per team, and “qualified players” voted on the award this year, voting on players for their league but unable to vote for players on their own teams. Rollins, a three time winner from 2007 through 2009, is competing against finalists Zack Cozart, Ian Desmond, and Jose Reyes while Chooch looks to win his first Gold Glove among the pool of finalists, which includes Yadier Molina and Miguel Montero. Rollins ranked fifth among qualified NL shortstops in UZR/150 while catching metrics are tougher to quantify.
The winners will be announced at 9:30 PM on ESPN 2 this evening.
