Phillies One-Hit Bucs, Win 5-0

John Lannan surrendered a double to Travis Snider in the third but that was the only Pirates hit, as the Phillies bullpen held the Pirates hitless and led the Phillies to a 5-0 win.

The Good

Today there was pitching and lots of it. The Phillies took advantage of the Pirates resting their best player Andrew McCutchen and held the Pirates to one hit. Mike Adams had a strikeout in one inning of work while Adam Morgan had two Ks in three innings of hitless work and Raul Valdes pitched the final two frames with two Ks.

The offense was led by Ben Revere, Michael Young, and Yuniesky Betancourt, who all had two hits. The defense turned an impressive four double plays to help the pitchers face just one over the minimum.

This was as pretty close to perfect as you’d like to see out of the Phillies in the Spring. Excellent game – no Areas of Opportunity here. Sound hitting, sound fielding, and awesome pitching – not much more you can ask for.
