Salisbury Says Yankees Could Be Fit For Ruiz, Utley

Interesting report coming from Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly just a short time ago. Salisbury notes that the Yankees had a scout in Philadelphia whose mission was “unknown” but coincided with the return of Chase Utley. Salisbury notes Carlos Ruiz returned earlier that week. But in addition to Salisbury noting the scout’s presence, Salisbury called the following out:

Three of those players –- Utley, Ruiz and (Michael) Young –- could be of serious interest to the Yankees, who are in the market for catching and corner-infield help.
According to a baseball executive, the Yankees have already kicked around Ruiz’s name as a possible upgrade at the catcher position. Ruiz, 34, is in the final year of his contract.

Salisbury goes on to note the importance of the next 18 games, eight on the road, ten in a row at home, and that whether the Phillies buy or sell may be in relation to how they fare in this time period. Time will tell.
