Prior to the start of the 2013 season, the Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies were predicted by many to compete in the National League East; however, both teams have failed to meet those expectations.  Both teams have been counted out of the race, but they are giving some of their younger players a chance to play.

Friday was another ugly night for the Phillies as they were blown out by the Nats, 9-2.  They’ll turn to Cliff Lee for a better outing, but he has even been struggling lately.  Lee is 0-3 with a 6.00 ERA in his last three starts (18 innings).  He has been a victim of the long ball, even in parks that aren’t exactly hitter-friendly.
