Phillies Beat Up Fernandez, Beat Fish 6-3

The Phillies roughed up star righty Jose Fernandez, pushing him out after just four innings in the 6-3 win over the Marlins.

Rollins, Utley, Byrd, and Brown all posted two hits, while the team as a whole walked seven times. Baserunners aren’t the issue; it’s getting them home. While the Phillies were a respectable 6 for 15 with runners in scoring position, they could have done even more damage.

Fernandez lasted four innings and gave up eight hits, walking four and striking out six.

AJ Burnett left the game with a sore groin with one out in the fifth after having thrown 106 pitches. Ryne Sandberg said he’s unsure if he’ll make his next start.

The bullpen held it together as Antonio Bastardo was the only reliever to give up a run on Friday night.

By the way, Chase Utley is hitting .469. Yikes.
