Phillies Sign Adam Loewen to Minor League Deal

According to Salisbury, Loewen will return to the mound in the Phillies’ minor league ranks.

The Phillies have signed pitcher Adam Loewen to a minor league deal. Loewen, 30, will return to the mound after spending the last six seasons as an outfielder. Loewen was ranked the #13 prospect by Baseball America in 2004 as a pitcher but converted to the outfield for the 2008 season after battling elbow trouble. Loewen spent parts of three years in the Majors with the Orioles, posting a 5.38 ERA in 164 IP.
