Phillies ink Jeanmar Gomez

The Phillies have signed right-handed reliever Jeanmar Gomez to a minor league deal with an invitation to Spring Training according to multiple sources. Gomez, 26, has a career 4.41 ERA in 120 appearances across the last five seasons with Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Gomez had a career-low 3.19 ERA in 2014 but saw his H/9 IP, BB/9 IP, and WHIP rise after a solid 2013.

Analysis: This is a smart signing by the Phillies. Gomez is a very nice buy-low candidate that has a very real chance to fill out the bullpen and perform at an above-average clip.
