A Note for Today:

The battle for last place is coming to an end here tonight in the final game of the series against Atlanta.  The Phillies could be tied for bottom feeders with none other than the Braves themselves.

The Phillies will face the Chicago Cubs next over the weekend for a four game series.  The Cubs are looking to hold onto the second wild card spot in the National League, where they currently hold a 9.0 game lead over the Giants, and a 9.5 game lead above the division rival, Washington Nationals.

David Buchanan is getting what could be the final look in the Major Leagues with the club, coming back from the Minors since going 2-7 with a 9.00 ERA with the Phillies earlier this year.  Buchanan started 10 games for the Phillies with a Minor league stint in between.

Darnell Sweeney finds his way back into the lineup after a day of rest, while Aaron Altherr and Odubel Herrera will play the rest of the outfield the same as yesterday.  The outfield is shaping up nicely for the future lookout, another showing came last night after Odubel Herrera hit a 3-run home run in the bottom of the 8th inning to cap off the Phillies 5-0 win over the Braves.

Final game of the series starts at 7:05 EST.

Lineup:

Hernandez 2B, Herrera CF, Altherr RF, Howard 1B, Sweeney LF,  Asche 3B, Rupp C, Galvis SS, Buchanan RHP
