Aaron Nola to the DL with elbow injury

The Phillies have placed starting pitcher Aaron Nola on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow strain.  The righty has certainly experienced some trouble on the mound as of late.  In his past 5 starts, he’s gone 1-3 with a 7.33 ERA in 23+ innings.  In his past 9 starts, the Phillies have won only once.

Right-hander Phil Klein was recalled from Lehigh Valley in the corresponding move and will make his Phillies debut tonight against the Giants.  Klein, who was picked up on waivers by the Phillies in June, will be making his third career start.  Previously he served as a reliever for the Rangers.

In other transaction news, the Phillies placed closer Jeanmar Gomez on the paternity list and recalled RHP Michael Mariot from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
