Emmanuel Burriss off to Washington

Good morning! Little in the way of Phils news, so let’s check out the rest of the league:

TURN, TURN, TURN: The Dodgers brought back infielder Justin Turner on a four-year, $64 million contract. Turner, 32, hit .275/.339/.493 last season with 27 home runs and 90 runs batted in. Since joining the Dodgers – and becoming more of a full-time player – Turner is hitting . 296/.364/.492.

JANSPORT: And the Dodgers also signed reliever Kenley Jansen to a five-year, $80 million deal. Jansen, 29, put up a 1.83 ERA with 104 strikeouts in just 68.2 innings last year for Los Angeles. He has saved a career 189 games since debuting for the Dodgers in 2010.

MAN DOWN: The Nationals raided the Phils’ old clothes and grabbed Emmanuel Burriss on a minor-league contract. Burriss spent 2016 with the Phillies, hitting .111/.184/.178 in 50 major league plate appearances. In Lehigh Valley he went .263/.296/.309.

Tim Malcolm

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
